I'd skip it. One of the worst true crime podcasts I've taken the time to listen to. You keep waiting for them to come up with some evidence but never get further than "so and so said he was weird."
Oh I disagree. I thought it was a fascinating peek into his mind with the audio journals and stuff. It’s fucked up for sure, but I didn’t know anything about the case walking in and thought it was very interesting, and you get an insight you basically never get on people like that imo.
Finished yesterday, kinda fizzled out there at the end but still one of the more fucked up stories I’ve ever listened too.
Shrink Next Door had some serious promise, but now I just think the guy was a complete idiot and deserved it
Yeah I think his psychiatrist was a manipulative piece of shit, but it feels like an it takes two to tango type deal so far.
Shrink next door didn’t hold my attention well for the first episode. I was also working, so that could be it.
I’m against it. Closed platforms are bad for podcasts. Luminary is throwing a lot of money around to get people to be exclusive.
Wife and I kept saying the same thing. They teased the fuck out of it and then never came back to it.
Any good recommendations for political history/conspiracy series? I've done The RFK Tapes, Cover Up, and both seasons of Slow Burn, and I really enjoyed all of them.
I just don’t think that The Shrink Next Door is very good the more I listen to it, it’s just not as compelling a story as the story might suggest it is.
It’s better now that I’ve relistened to ep 1. It has some major potential to build us up to an extremely underwhelming ending.
There’s a new podcast out called “Infectious” dealing with the history of vaccinations, medicine/science, and anti-vaxxers. I’m interested but don’t know if I can put up with the stupidity.
Did you ever listen to LifeAfter? Should be right up your alley, if you can enjoy this type of podcast. It’s my favorite to date.
I really really like BtB. The throughline of shitheads in history all seeming pretty similar no matter the era has really stuck out. Like, shitheads hide behind free speech to spew their hateful rhetoric. Doesn't matter if it's Germany, England in the early 1900s, America when the KKK started, America now. The formula is the same every time. ______ (insert country) first! Get rid of ________ immigrants/ethnicities! Pretty disconcerting when you see the parallels to 2019 and literally dozens of other not great times in history.
No, I don't listen to the joe rogan podcast. Looked the guy up on wikipedia, classic silicon valley grift.
I finally decided to listen to the To Live and Die in LA podcast based on all the discussion here: Spoiler I don't mean to sound like a dick about it, but I don't think I've ever listened to another podcast story where I basically hated almost every single person involved. I felt bad for Adea's mom, and that's about it. That Chris guy is a complete fucking piece of shit, and then his moron of a fiancee spends all her time crying about, "He was the BEST human being ever to have existed in the history of the universe. Just because he was living a double life, had mental problems, was cheating on me, was abusive, had another fiancee and came from the most dysfunctional family on the planet doesn't change how beautiful and perfect he was!!! WAAAAAHHHH!" What the FUCK, people?! Even that audio with Adea where she just had a huge fight that probably turned physically abusive and all she can do is keep slurring on and on about "You took my Rolex!" Goddammit, this story sucks.
Had a 4 hour drive this weekend and started The Shrink Next Door. It’s legitimately one of the most boring pods I’ve ever heard. A complete waste of time, but I made myself get through 3 of the 6 eps. Does anything worthwhile happen in the last half? If I have to hear Joe Nocera’s voice again, I may kill myself.
A trash ass everyone, victim included. In retrospect I’m pissed that I wasted my time listening to it. A bunch of useless people all around.
