Nelson was optioned to AAA and Shaw has been terrible so far down there and I expect him to be optioned there once his rehab assignment ends.
One of the all time great pitching performances for a Brewer pitcher today 1st time in Brewers history that an opponent has reached safely, walk hit etc, just once in the game No walks for Woody, just one unfortunate HR on a bad pitch. That's more impressive than no hitters for me.
Struck out the final batter in every inning too, 1st time ever in at least 8 IP according to FSWI. Albers ended the game by striking out the final batter as well.
Woodruff was the first brewers pitcher since Taylor Jungmann in 2015 to have back to back starts of 8+ IP.

Good to see Arcia really turn and drive a ball. A few of his early homers were slicing the opposite way and hardly got out. They count the same but you still felt like he was just lucky as much as anything.
Arcia also hit an upper deck shot on Sunday that I am still convinced was fair. I try not to get my hopes up too much with him but he has been much better with the bat this season.
Orlando Arcia has a better batting average, OBP and SLG% than Lorenzo Cain. Has taken more walks than all of last year too
Can see Caldio is still useless As is Jesus, batting .191 Davies is bound to regress unfortunately. Another good start from him today.
He doesn't need to be Carlos Correa at the plate, if he can keep his OPS in the 700 range Also has a better slugging percentage than the 1b position collectively
I really wonder how much more this team needs to see from Claudio. I hate that we wasted a draft pick to get him but what's done is done. If I didn't know better I would think that Doug Melvin traded for this guy with his 84 mph fastball.
Edwin Encarnacion is the answer for first base. He makes a lot of money so Seattle will be happy just to get rid of his salary. He makes 20 million this year with an option for 20 next year with a 5 million buyout. You can take less than ideal offense at positions like catcher, shortstop, and cf but you can't have Arcia outhitting the first baseman. Attanasio has shown that he will expand payroll when necessary. We desperately need another right handed bat and Encarnacion is the perfect fit.
This lefty making his major league debut showed once again how much we need a right handed bat to balance the lineup.

Is that rule actually going through. If we hadn't given up the draft pick to get him he would be in AAA already. Our farm system is depleted as it is and we really shouldn't have traded a pick away for the type of pitcher we could have signed for practically nothing in free agency.
I am pretty sure it is. His arsenal suggests that he should be able to get righties out, he just can't. It's either three batters or an end of an inning. So you could risk it if there are two outs and a lefty is up that is good enough not to be pinch hit for. If he doesn't get that guy out though he's fucked.
Yelich is currently on pace to hit 62 HR this season. Through 49 games, he has more HR than Babe Ruth (1927), Roger Maris (1961), Sammy Sosa (1998, 1999, 2001), and Mark McGwire (1999).
Huira had a 106.2 out, and his double was 106.6 Would guess he doesn't want to go back down to AAA for Shaw
I would have no problem if they wanted to give him a 3 /$60 type deal. Let Shaw, Aguilar, and Thames battle for the other starting spot. I doubt it happens with the way Stearns works, which I'm on board with. I just think he's a steady presence in the lineup.
IDK it's not my money and we have a decent amount of cost certainty. What I'm saying is I wouldn't mind if they found a way to keep him around for the Yelich/Cain years. 3/45? I'm guessing that the free agent strategy is going more likely be just every year signing that years Moustakas/ Grandal. Guys that aren't happy with the long term deals available to them.
He is definitely off to a great start but Moustakas is most likely the same player he has always been; big power combined with poor on base skills. I am more than happy to keep going year to year with him but if someone else wants to bet on him long term let them. We need to start developing more of our own position players.
Trey Supak goes 8 2/3 hitless before surrendering the no-hitter. Now has a 2.25 ERA in 68 IP. Sounds like he's hitting his ceiling of a good 3rd to 5th spot 13th ranked in our system I believe
Woof Because the #Brewers have committed several errors and misplays, #Pirates have scored 9 runs WITHOUT the benefit of an extra base hit!! Three bases loaded walks helps
Jimmy Nelson should be in the rotation soon so that should help. The bullpen can be so much better if Burnes and Peralta pitch to their capabilities. I refuse to believe that Burnes isn't the guy we saw last season especially in the playoffs. As bad as the pitching has been it actually has a lot of upside. Another guy to watch out for is Drew Rasmussen. He was a former first round pick of Tampa who didn't sign because he needed a second elbow surgery but we got him the next year in the 6th round. He is back to full strength throwing in the high 90s.
I've tried to be optimistic about this pitching staff but thats it for me. I don't know if its the pitching coach or a lack of talent but this staff just isn't good enough.
We rely way too much on Hader. If we keep using him as much as we do he will wear down later in the season. We desperately need a few guys to step up to take some of the load off of him.
