That, and the fact that there are stats there that weren't valued until the idea of Money Ball type metrics started to take hold. Before Money Ball walks were garbage. It was all avg, RBI, HR, Hits.

I have a ton of stuff, but this one stands out. Passed down from my grandfather who got it first hand at a country club.

It took 8 years but I finally got my first negative feedback on ebay. All because I put a buyer on my block list lol. He didn't take it well.

Just realized buyers can't get negative feedback lol. Had a dude buy a will grier auto and never paid after a month. Went to go give feedback and thats not a thing you can do.

Yeah, buyers have all the power unfortunately. As a seller, there isn't really anything you can do other than open a case, get your final value fee credit, and re-list it. And also put that person on the block list. I think my list is like 75-80 people long.

You can always leave a positive feedback for them but in all caps write something like "DEADBEAT BUYER. DIDN'T PAY"

That is exactly what I did. I know why EBay caters to the buyer, but not being able to given them negative feedback is a joke

Update: He gave me a 2nd negative, but I contacted ebay and they agreed that it is my right to block someone if I want to so they took off both negatives. #blessed

I hadn't opened a box of anything since some 2019 Topps baseball a couple months back so I decided to get 2 Prizm Basketball FOTL boxes, because I hate myself. Basketball stuff is feast or famine and today was a famine. Highlights (read: lowlights):

Blue Shimmer /7: Jonas Valanciunas, Eric Bledsoe. John Stockton Auto and Larry Bird Gold Prizm /10. Other auto's were Jacob Evans, Dzana Musa and a god damn 250 points card.

After Strawberry got popped for a drug suspension, the Yankees signed him and he did a short stint in AAA in Columbus.

I was an undergrad and waited tables at a hotel owned by Steinbrenner where all the players stayed.

Strawberry never left the hotel except to play baseball.. He ate every meal in the hotel. Nice guy, but I caught him at a fairly humbled moment.

I know I raved about the MLB Rookie class from 2018 products but the market is starting to reflect that. 2018 Topps Update, which could have been had for ~$70 a box, is now selling for $140. That's nuts.

On another note, I was feeling nostalgic so I bought 2 boxes of 1999 Topps Finest Football and 2 boxes of 1999 Topps Chrome Football. Will report back next week when I get them.

I didn't know these Bowman "mega box" exclusive at Target were so sought after. Now I wish I picked some up when I saw a bunch of them.

Picked up a blaster of regular Bowman and got a chrome vladdy jr as well as a couple numbered cards and a trout chrome parallel. Base cards for Soto, judge and acuna. Pretty nice for a single blaster box

Yeah it's pretty wild how sought after they are. Last summer, before I knew, I happened to walk into Target as the worker was unloading a box of ~25 of them so I grabbed a couple and left. Texted my brother and asked if they were any good and immediately got "Where at? I'm going up there." He got there 30 minutes later and every single one was gone.

77 pages since 5/31/19. Rovell with a small understatement, basically the company allegedly has been in on the fraud from the seller submitting trimmed cards. Thinking this may apply to both Beckett's grading and PSA though

Update: Incredibly fun to open old stuff. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for some cheap-ish nostalgia. In one Topps Chrome box I pulled an Edgerrin James RC and Ricky Williams RC. In 1999 that would have been an insane box. Pulled a Ty Law Gold Refractor from Finest #/100 as well as a few Peyton #'d inserts and some veteran base and insert cards (Moss, Peyton, Favre, Steve Young, Aikman, etc.) that I'll be looking to get graded. The downside to buying cards that are 20 years old is that some of them stick together and/or have film on them. Nothing a soft cloth with windex can't fix though.

I bought several boxes of 86-89 baseball and 92-93 basketball a while back to open up with my son. We pulled 3 Griffey Jr. Upper Deck rookies out of one box. I sent those and a bunch of other rookies off to be graded. The Jr's were really nice, so I'm pretty excited to get them back and see what they graded out at.

I have about a dozen unopened boxes from 1990. Topps, Fleer, and Donruss. These are basically worthless right?

Frank Thomas, Sammy Sosa, Bernie Williams, John Olerud, Juan Gonzalez, Larry Walker. Those are the rookies to collect from 1990. You can also get Griffey 2nd year stuff which has value.

As far as resale value, there isn't a ton. But I'd highly suggest opening them. It is a ton of fun to see some old names and it's also possible to get some cards in good condition that you could potentially grade.

My first pack of baseball cards was when I was 8. In April every year, my town raised money for uniforms and equipment by sending kids out at town crossroads with adults to solicit donations.

When we were done, my coach bought everyone a pack of Topps. I got a Willie McCovey in his last year with the Giants.

So I got back into cards about 18 months ago-ish, for the sole purpose of pulling a Mariota Rookie auto. Ive spent...a lot trying to do that and have had zero luck. Wellllll that ended this past weekend in a very serendipitous way. I was at my bachelor party this past weekend and my buddy said "we gotta go run an errand", we pull up to a card shop he hands me 400 bucks and I buy some 2015 football boxes. Third pack:
