    How are you liking 19?

To me it's hands down the best FM I've ever played and the gap between it and 18 is so much bigger than between 18 and 14.

I'm early days in 19 but I really really like it. I put so many hours into 18 that I kinda forgot the match engine was just broken. The match engine is so much better and I really appreciate the changes to training and scouting. I've played every FM except 17 since 2011 and I think this is my fave hands down.

    First season in the books.

Media predicted we'd finish 12th. Board expectations were top half. We actually finished 6th and lost in the first round of the promotion playoff.

The tiki-taka actually worked pretty well. Led the league with 59% possession and 81% passing. Conceded the fewest goals as well at 34 and also had the most clean sheets. Completed 20,000 passes, ~4k more than the next team.

Unfortunately, we just couldn't score. We had the 15th fewest goals, 20th (out of 22) worst shots on target ratio, and 17th worst conversion rate. My strikers combined for 53 starts and 21 sub-ons, but only 17 goals and 2 assists. I've never managed worse strikers.

Obviously going into the offseason getting a good striker is my utmost priority. We finished 7 points off first and undoubtedly would've won the league with some actual scoring. I'll also need to rework the central midfield as I have good players in, but they don't fit the roles I need for this formation. My wingers and defenders + gk were all pretty good.

Unfortunately, every single player in my 18 is either on loan or their contract is ending in a few weeks. Blessing and a curse though as it'll give me a chance to get my wage budget down and hopefully get in some players that fit my style.

WellW see how that goes though as my scouting at this level is pretty shit. I did get a pretty incredible youth intake though. It features 5 players with at least 4.5 potential. Better than any intake I ever had at Barca.

Maybe it's because I'm in a lower level and didn't have as many competitions and I couldn't really scout, but this season in 19 has flown by. Feels like they go much faster than previous versions.

Started a save with Kidderminster in VNN. 3 seasons later im in the top of league 2. I’m usually not great at lower level management but this save is going beyond great.

Also my 0-2 loss to kidderminster was just listed as my moment to forget of the season.

The team that beat me in the playoffs (1-0 in ET) went on to win it with scores of 3-0 and 4-1. The team that beat me in the FA Trophy also won that competition.

Wage budget just got hiked from 8.6k to 13.8k, and transfer budget from 0 to 202k. Board is also upgrading the youth facilities.

I lost the playoffs the first season in VN after a 9-10 penalty shoot out. Their keeper went 10th and scored my Left back missed after. i almost deleted the save right then and there.

No it's infinitely faster, I still load it up with a bunch of leagues but I flew through Bundesliga 2 and am halfway through my 2nd season already. I think they got rid of a lot of the flotsam and jetsam. That said I feel like I'm responding to scouting reports more often

Have like 5 matches left in Season 2, but I'm gonna win it going away. We're ~15 points clear of second.

In last season's debrief I talked about the lack of goal scoring. Through the loan market, and with a ton of perseverance, we're leading the league in goals this season. It's actually been pretty difficult to find a good scorer for a couple reasons. First, it's hard to get a full scouting report on a player. It takes a while, and for reasons I don't understand, often I'll be left with an incomplete player report (number ranges left for some attributes and don't know all position fits). Second, players and clubs seem much more reluctant in FM19 to go to lower tier clubs than in past versions. I've even had players in the club the first season who refused to come back the second do to our status.

As far as tactics go, this year I've implemented the counter press along with my tiki-taka tactic. Last season I felt the players didn't understand the formation enough to press off of it without fucking up, so I just had them sit back after losing the ball. We've once again led the league in possession, passing %, and goals conceded. At a bar downstairs having a pint right now, but I believe we've given up fewer than last year.

As far as performance in other competitions go, we beat our expectations in the FA Cup by one round and failed our expectations in the FA Trophy by one round. I fear that failure will cost me 90% board confidence in competitions (currently 83) which will cost me an achievement I think.

Thankfully, the board really cares about the league and have been rewarding our performance in it. I've been given a new contract, two more coaches, coaching courses, youth recruitment improvement, and youth and first team training facilities improvement. They also almost doubled my wage budget for the season and gave me 200k for transfer (the latter I've not been able to use because no good player wants to come here).

The hard cider is getting to me so I'm gonna wrap up. Going into the offseason/next season there are a few interesting storylines:
    - Do we stay semi-pro or become professional
    - Do I bring back my loan players (2 ST, 1 Wingeri) or try to get better ones with promotion
    - If the former, are they able to perform at a higher level, if the latter are the able to gel in time
    - Are we able to stage off relegation and make a place for ourselves in the VNL

P.S. Youth recruitment brought me two 4.5+ potential playerz, and even more impressive, a kid who's already a 2 in CA.

Also tossing around the idea of only signing UK or EU players or something. Usually my squads are filled with like 1 domestic player, because I'm just trying to get the absolute best, but thinking that could be a fun challenge.

Holy shit holy shit holy shit.

We just won the league on the last day. Absolute scenes.

Poor run of form saw us drop to third. Down four points with two matches to go. The first place team was on a 15 match unbeaten run, where they drew only twice. But they lost their final two matches and we won ours. I can't believe it.

Toughest FM season I've ever had and I'm so fucking glad it's over. We're going to league football thank God.

    Little update:

Currently sit 4th in L2 with 17 matches to go. Had a horrendous start to the season where I had a span of 1 win out of 11 matches.

I was getting destroyed on balls over the top, so I went to change my tactic to have my defenders sit deeper and not play the trap. Turns out, I already had those options selected, so I reversed them to hold a higher line with the trap. Since doing that I've only lost 3 of 17 matches, including an unbeaten run of 9 matches.

I'm now 4 points out of 1st, and I think at the lowest I was 16 points out of 1st, dropping as far as 19th in the table.

This success has seen me offered a number of jobs, including two in Colombia. I just interviewed for the Cardiff job, which is an EPL job. Pretty cool as a L2 manager.

I took 9 players on loan not realizing I could only have five in the matchday squad. And I have three strikers that I apparently told would be key players, so they all bitch about not starting enough. The three have combined for 1 goal in our last 14 matches. Assholes.

I think the game this year is way easier than it used to be. i’ve always been awful at taking a vanarama south/north team to the epl and beyond. this year i read about it and watched videos so i’ve become a lot better, but i dont use any exploits or anything crazy. Yet my kidderminster team is in its 5th season and i’m hovering around 2nd-7th place of sky league 1 (12 games into the season) although pre season had me 1001:1 in 23rd place. i have about 1.2 million $ in the bank and am a good bit under my wage budget. I’m having a lot of fun but with some luck i might make it to the championship in 5 seasons. The jump to the championship is hard so that might slow me down a little, but idk i think its a little too easy so far.

I bet he would have started Timo Werner over Lacazette but the decision to tag Lacazette forced the issue.

Something I never saw actually worked on 19. As a goof I unsettled Kai Havert, got him to force Bayer to lower their asking price for a player they weren't selling and then successfully lobbied the board to negotiate his transfer for 36 million dollary doos. Was previously stacked at the AMC spot so I had to sell Ozcan who fired us to 2. Bundesliga and a dumbass out of nowhere surprise bundesliga title in back to back years.

Last month I hired my first head of sports science. Before that I hadn't lost a single starter for more than a week this season (it's December now). Since then, I've lost:
    Starting ST - 3 weeks
    Starting LW - 3 weeks
    Starting RW - 3-4 months
    Backup ST - 3-5 weeks
    Starting CM - 3-5 weeks
    Starting LB - 3 weeks

All of these have happened within the last 30 days. I'm not saying it's due to him, but it's some kind of timing.

Managed to make and win the playoff.

One thing about this version that irritates the shit out of me is how long your rep takes to catch up with your team. I'm in the championship now and my rep is still lower than every single League One team and a third of the League Two teams.

Makes it incredibly difficult to sign and loan players. Just got turned down by a guy who got dropped from his League One team, in fact.

Board is building a new stadium with like 17000 seats, so its more than 6444 but it still sucks for a Championship club.

2nd season in the championship i finished 14th. aiming for top 10 this year. I feel like i need the new stadium before i can get promoted, the budgets are just way too low for my poor Kidderminster.

But you never know, i could get lucky. The Championship is a very even league, a good run of form at the right moment could be enough.

So as i’m waiting for the new stadium to be finished 16 month or so out. I decided instead of trying to get to the epl that i most likely wont do anyway, i’ll focus on turning a profit (despite paying off debt for the new stadium.) and get some youth into my squad. I’ve 2 promising youngsters already, hopefully i can find 2-3 more in the summer.
i Have 10 million dollars on the balance. Hopefully i can have like 15 million dollars when the stadium is done and make a push for the EPL.

So I'm still playing 18, and had started a save a while back and recently booted it back up again.

I started at Royal Antwerp in Belgium, and used a big attack lineup and somehow won the league year 1. Didn't qualify out of CL(shocker), and got the job offer at Bordeaux in December and decided to take it. Team was mid table when I took over and I got them to 5th in 1st season, then snuck 3rd in year two.

Currently in March of 2021, 30 games played. PSG has an 11 point lead, and I'm 3 points up on third place Monaco and 6 points on Marseilles. I got 2nd in CL group behind Atletico, and Roma was 3rd. Drew City in round of 16. Won 1-0 at home, lost 2-1 at the Ethiad and advanced on away goals.

I've somehow held onto Malcom this entire time. Really only got nervous this past January when he requested a move to Liverpool, for Liverpool not to meet the price. Got a handful of kids(17-18y) in the first team, and a youth system that has given me at least one 5* a year. Now I have Liverpool in the next CL round

Going to finish my first season in the Championship in about 16th place. Original expectation was attempt to fight relegation, and halfway through I changed it to avoid relegation fight.

Was immensely frustrating as my strikers/wingers/midfield were never able to get on form all at once. I had multiple runs of 5 matches with no wins. As I mentioned before, my rep is lower than all the League One teams, so I attribute my shortcomings to my inability to attract quality players due to that.

The lack of money in my club is also starting to become an annoyance. My stadium only seats 6k, while the next smallest is 17k. My wage budget is only 87k, while the next smallest is 140k. The average is 550k. Really, really hoping for a nice rep boost in the offseason and maybe the purse strings of the board will loosen now that I've managed to stay up comfortably.

My old computer died so wasn't sure I wanted to do another sim with 19 but after a trip to Rotterdam I loved the place decided to do one with Sparta in the 2nd division there.

Dutch teams have the best names and logos and its a fun setup. Sparta is pretty loaded since they were just relegated. Lot of young talent. Sold off a few older guys for a couple million and used the money to get upgrades to facilities that were already considered good. Won the first 14 matches in the league quite easily. Only had to come from behind twice. Beat 2 Eredivisie teams in the cup so far FC Emmen 6-3 and Ajax 3-0. Feeling very good about where things are headed, next year should be interesting.

On quite the Carabao Cup run with Lincoln, just came back from 2-0 down to beat Fulham 3-2. Back to back wins over Premier League teams and in the Quarter Finals as a League 2 team. Drew at Liverpool next round so that is going to be the end of that run

Breezed through the league and easily won it to get promoted to the Eredivisie. Won the cup too over Heerenveen 2-1 so get to play some Euro stuff this season.

One thing I wasn't prepared for was I hit the Jan window and half my team got poached away. Didn't realize half my team was on amateur deals and could just be taken. So that was a learning lesson but held on to enough and added a few pieces for this season. Predicted to finish 10th but I think I can do top 5 at least. Lost the Super Cup to PSV on penalties to start the season.

They agreed to add about 1500 seats. We only seat like 10.5k right now and sold nearly 10k season tickets so prob could have done more but whatever.

Not getting the pc game is a massive mistake. mobile is horrible. FM touch is okay, but once you go PC (full game) its hard to settle for less.

I can see trying mobile just to get a feel for what it is, but its very bare bones.
