She's in private school and thankfully she still given her birth date will be pre-k next year...K looks expensive as fuck.
I have two friends that had kids in march and they both bought the snoo before the kid was born, and swear by them. i'm hoping i don't get desperate.
On one hand, you can only use them for 6 months, so you may be able to borrow or rent one of theirs when their kid outgrows it. On the other, I would have committed the most heinous of crimes to get even an extra 30 minutes of sleep during that first month.
Owsley do you have any recommendations for bird watching/nature books (maybe with an Alabama focus) and/or relevant gear for it?

Catholic daycare ends in July, so we’re getting a $1k/mo pay raise. Wife already spent about 2yrs worth of future daycare payments on The kitchen renovation that’s currently in process at our house.
Southern Wonder by Duncan is the definitive guide to Alabama’s biodiversity, and I cannot recommend it enough. Fishes of Alabama by Boschung is another must-have. Lastly, Headwaters by Young is a fantastic book that champions Alabama’s waterways. All 3 are on my coffee table. As far as bird books go, the Sibley guide to Bird Life and Behavior is the standard bearer, and his field guide is fantastic as well. Another book I’ve really enjoyed is The Genius of Birds by Ackerman, which is super easy to read and absolutely fascinating. The iBird Ultimate phone app is indispensable as well, and includes field ID markers, general behavior, range maps, photos, similar species, and calls/songs. Another book I get a lot of use out of is Forest Plants of the Southeast and Their Wildlife Uses by Miller. Gear wise, it really just depends on how much you want to spend. If you need me to narrow anything down further, just ask.
Biologist with a background in freshwater/wetlands ecology, but I cover most everything at some point or another through work.
Nice. I’ve got two hydrologists in my family. One’s up in Alaska and the other was heavily involved in the Elwha Dam removal. Good buddy of mine is headed back to school this fall to get his MS
I work with some really great water engineers who do everything from dam removals and stream restorations to constructed reefs and oyster beds. Thankfully I’m one of the guys who gets to go out and do a lot of the pre/post survey work.
You ever do anything on Weiss Lake or around there? I'll bring some gummies/pen/strip if you ever feel like doing a guide of cool shit im not seeing
I do fish and benthic macroinvertebrate collections on the Duck River near Cullman every other year. So, take you up next summer?
It's basically a self-contained Oculus Rift- so like the fancy headsets without having wires going to a computer. It also has full position tracking, you can walk around in a room and be walking around in a game. I don't know of any phone applications that do that, maybe they do? It also has a boundary feature so when you put it on it shows you the room you are in and you draw your boundaries so it'll keep you from bumping into shit. If you cross your boundary the headset will switch from whatever you were doing to showing the room you are in to re-orient you to your room. It tracks full hand movement, for example playing poker the other night I had the controller in my hand and I moved my hand to the chips, grab them, and throw them on the table - it feels natural like you're grabbing chips and throwing them in. So the controllers are great and intuitive. I've only done the headset on an old Samsung a long time ago, but it didn't feel nearly as immersive as the Oculus goes.
If you arent buying the fleshlight thing to stick your dick in that matches the video idk what youre doing with VR. NSFW including a set of balls Spoiler
it was a free app, and can't really play any of the other intense games laying in bed... was more just an example of how fine the hand controls can be. If they make a VR haptic fleshlight sign me up
Around here maybe 1/8 of that is like $20 retail. They also sell that shit everywhere, we have CBD water whatever that it.
I didn't get that model, got another Anbes one that charges via USB-C. Seems to be good. The right ear bud is a little slow to connect if you try to use just the right one though. Other than that not bad at all.
Arrived today. Took it out and inflated it, good to go. Going to test it out this weekend in the mountains. Only catch--it's about 40-45 lbs with everything in the backpack, not 25. Going to be a burner on the big hikes. If nothing else it'll get me in damn good shape.
