It was funny that physioc confused him for Gordon until he miss played the ball.

    Good fucking riddance.

Also, skimming past the pasted tweet, I thought the Royals had gone back to the early 2000s black and blue Royals in a baseball logo and about vomited on my phone.

Hit a HR first AB just to prove you wrong.....then struck out with runners on 1st and 3rd second time up. Made a damn good play at third just now though.

:comicbookguy: You can only trade compensatory picks in MLB, all other picks just remain with the original teams

In all seriousness we will trade whit for a toolsy infielder who can't hit and a minor league pitcher who profiles best as a reliever. 100% going to happen.

    Which would leave us with:

Witt is among the rarest of talents, a potential five-tool shortstop. He could have plus tools across the board, hitting for average and power, displaying plus speed and arm strength (his fastball reaches the mid-90s when he pitches) and making all the plays at shortstop.

There's no question that Witt is the best shortstop prospect in a 2019 Draft full of first-round candidates at the position. He also compares favorably to the best since MLB switched to a single unified Draft in 1987. We surveyed several veteran scouts, and the consensus was that only one shortstop in the last 32 years ranks ahead of Witt.

"Alex Rodriguez is the best shortstop prospect I've seen, but Bobby Witt Jr. certainly belongs right up there," a longtime scout now with a NL club said. "He can match up with guys toolswise and what he also has is a high baseball IQ. People lose sight of it because the tools are so strong, but he's a really good player to go with it."

Catcher is a bigger need if we already have Mondesi. Unless we trade him or he leaves for more money.

These days, I'm all about prep bats and college arms. My Do Not Draft list would include: HS pitchers, any Catcher, any HS player that is exclusively a 1B.

We've discussed the bust rate of HS pitchers so that one is self explanatory. I'd never draft any Catcher at any level. The bust rate on catching prospects is pretty high and even the ones that do work out have relatively short careers. Buster Posey, Gary Sanchez, and Willson Contreras are just about the only Catching prospects that have worked out. Travis D'Arnaud, Jesus Montero, Devin Mesoraco, Reese McGuire, Tyler Stephenson, Stryker Trahan, Mike Zunino, Blake Swihart, Austin Hedges, Jorge Alfaro... I could keep going but you get the point. While some of those guys are fine every day players, none of them lived up to the hype.

Take Witt Jr. and worry about where he fits if/when he makes it to the bigs. According to Keith Law, we aren't interested in Andrew Vaughn so it's either Witt Jr. or Rutschman.

SS is one of those places where you can’t pick too many imo. Their skills transition to almost anywhere on the diamond so if someone has to move to 2nd/3rd/RF/where ever so be it. Now driving in this morning 810 was saying that Balt has been leaking that they want Vaughn or Witt instead of Rutschman. I bet that’s just posturing and they take Rutsch and we get Witt.

MLB had him as #39 overall. Sounds like ok power-speed combo but he strikes out too much. They say he won’t stick at SS.

Glove has a long way to go, he's got a lot of tools as a hitter. He essentially missed all of 2018 due to a crazy injury, took him awhile this year to get used to elite pitching but the talent is there.

Rany seems to think Witt will move quick in the system. Is that shared by others or is that just him being optimistic?

Yeah, he should. He’ll be 19 this month. He’s played plenty of games in all star circuits with a wood bat already. I’d put my money on service time deadline 2021 for him making his debut.

This seems more realistic. He'll likely start in Rookie ball this year and hopefully end the year in low or mid-A. By the end of 2020 hopefully he's in AA. Start 2021 in AA and be ready for a call-up at some point during that season.

In a perfect world, of course.

I wouldn't be shocked if he's a September call up next year just to get a taste of the bigs, but that does seem aggressive. I think a lot of it depends on when he signs and gets started in rookie ball/low A. If he drags his feet, that extends the timeline.

Rany's theory on him moving so quickly I think is partially wishful thinking considering how much of an emphasis he places on prospects' age.

I know a lot is being made of Witt's age but it isn't like a Jimmy Clausen situation where he was a grade ahead of everyone.. he's just old for his grade. He'll turn 19 next week so it's not like he's been 19 for all of half of his senior year.

Was thinking, let’s get a stud college bat that’s almost MLB ready when I read your post. Did a google search and got this:

Spencer Torkelson, 1B, Arizona State: Torkelson has major raw power. The 6-1, 220-pound slugging first baseman has hit .337 with 48 home runs in his first two seasons at Arizona State. He profiles as a first baseman in pro ball, but his ability at the plate will put him in consideration for the top overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft.

Apparently there is a HS kid who reclassified to be in the 2020 draft named Blaze Jordan who was hitting 500 foot bombs at the Ballpark in Arlington at age 15. Sign me up.
