The cubs increased payroll from last year. They weren’t as frugal as has been made out. They added a $20 mil starting pitcher
Surprised Joe left him in. He was visibly shaken and it’s on his mind. That’s the kind of shit that happens, you lose focus, then get hurt because you weren’t focused.
He would've been sulking in the dugout or clubhouse if taken out. Not like that would be any better for him. I don't think the chances of him getting injured increase significantly because he had a scary moment. Saw on twitter that the 4 yr old is ok, btw, but going to the hospital just in case. That was a frightening scene.
Bryant must be below .200 with RISP. Huge spot in the 8th and 93 y/o Adam Wainwright blows him away for the third time. So frustrating to see such a talented player come up short in critical spots
Maples strikes a guy out, but it's called a ball and he unravels We actually hit well last night and then the rain came And today, Kolten Wong turned into super Mario and Wainright threw 120+ pitches I did not miss the Cardinals voodoo magic
So other than he won't be able to fix the garbage bullpen what do I need to know about this dude from Fresno State?
Nothing, it’s the baseball draft. The chance that he ever makes the majors is small and the chance he becomes great is even smaller. He throws really hard which is a change from what the cubs have drafted in the past
Comes from a small school, has low mileage on the arm, was highly productive. His fastball is elite and he throws a lot of ground balls. His stature and delivery remind some of Roy Oswalt or Rich Harden. His other pitches need work. This is they same type of prospect the cubs have been selecting in the Theo be Hoyer run. See Dylan Cease. The kid they got from UCLA has good power and is projected 2B. Good college hitter. Also fits the profile of what the cubs normally do. UCLA kid was a projected first rounder and was higher on the boards than the pitcher. Either way it’s the draft and they select late. It’s gonna take years to find out what they become.
This pick reminded me of Hayden Simpson. Not great . I'd like to be able to trust them but this FO has been shit at drafting college arms early. Hatch sucks , Lange is awful and Little sucks.
Cubs gonna have Wilson catch Yu tonight. Also all these reports linking the cubs to KK makes me nervous. Our front office isn't the type to leak that info out normally. I hope this isn't an agent trying to get more money and years and using the cubs as leverage.
Tyson Miller after 11 starts in AA: 63.2 IP, 2.26 ERA, 2.48 FIP, 25.2 K%, 4.6 BB%, 0.42 HR/9. Has completed 7+ innings in 3 of his last 5 starts.
Huge. Let’s hope he hasn’t suddenly lost it like some of our other big signings over the last few years.
Is there a way to look up the most ground balls hit in baseball? I can't imagine anyone has more than Jason Heyward
This season, J-Hey is hitting at a 69% GB rate. #36 in the league for ground balls. Wilson Ramos is leading the league in ground balls at 82.1% https://www.foxsports.com/mlb/stats?season=2019&category=BATTING+RATIOS&group=1&time=0
