is there such thing as a HDMI wireless transmitter? Looking to put my TV on my mantle (I know, I know) and have power up there currently but just need to get two HDMI hookups up there. Would be about 50' of wire if I was going to run it through the wall ($$$)
Dish also has one. The way it works is there is a transmitter that connects to coax that can be anywhere within 100 or 200 feet iirc. There is a smaller dish receiver that connects via hdmi to your tv, but is small enough to mount or zip tie to the back of the tv mount. I imagine most providers use this system. Not sure what your 2nd hdmi device requirement is for, but you may be able to satisfy that with a chromecast/etc
Yeah but then I have to route that up through the walls and down into the ceiling. That's a pain in the ass, I think.
I bought something like this when I wanted to consider putting my receiver in a different room. Have it but never tried it. Ended up running a 50ft HDMI in basement and up to living room and my receiver is in the back hidden in the living room. Ensigear Infra Red Remote Control Command Extender kit cable(20 Feet) including IR Signal Receiver IR Emitter and 2 HDMI adapters with CEC 、RCMM Pass Through 20 kHz to 60 kHz
A bit if advice to those buying new appliances, stay the fuck away from Whirlpool Gold. Had them for around 5 years and so far one eye on the flat top stove gets stuck on high, the warming tray underneath has broke, the dishwasher soap dispenser door has broke, and the fridge had the water pump break where it connects to the line. Damn thing had been spraying no telling how much water behind the fridge for likely months every time it made ice. To make matters worse, the water line that runs from the pump to the filter had a huge plastic stop built into the line roughly one inch from where it attached to the pump. Effectively making it to where you had replace the entire line as well. Fuucckkkk.
Last house bought all whirlpool gold and had minimal issues over 7 years. Dishwasher soap door broke and we just threw the tab in. Refrigerator like 3 weeks before closing to sell had an issue with one of the valves being blocked. YouTube videos and bought the parts fixed myself. Moved into new house and bought all whirlpool again. Dishwasher door was a different mechanism than the last but the rubber seal came out just before the warranty expired. I called and there was like a 2 week wait to send someone out and it was right before a holiday meal. I actually fixed it while I was on the phone on hold but still was able to get them to send me a new part that I will have in case it breaks. Refrigerator is oddly touchy with the ice machine. It’s almost like the door isn’t closed enough to make the contact to dispense ice. Have to just put a little pressure on the door and it works fine. Anyway, that’s my whirlpool experience. Nothing is made like it was before but I would buy again.
We'd love to go with KitchenAid appliances, but they're so goddamn expensive. What's the next best? I know to avoid Samsung. Is GE solid? LG?
Hearing good things on GE. Check out a mom and pop shop to check kitchen aid. Got one hell of a quote from a local guy that we will probably go with.
We have had whirlpool gold fridges in our last three houses and been happy with them. Bought the first one in 2015 and moved it into the second house. Sold it for a grand online and bought the smaller version of the same fridge since the new house had a smaller fridge opening. Actually got super lucky and found it at a Sears Outlet for $999 and it was the only fridge in the place that didn’t have a scratch or dent on it. So basically it cost nothing after selling the old one.
Had a GE fridge last 6 years then it completely died. Fuck em. Had a considerably more expensive Samsung fridge last less than a year. Double fuck them. Got a considerably cheaper Whirlpool in its place. Hopefully that lasts. Had LG washer and dryer. Dryer was fine but the washer broker after 6 years. Maytag in its place and running fine for 2. Replaced a water heater after 8 years. Replaced a garbage disposal after 8 years. Neat things.
Interested to see how our bathroom remodel goes. FIL wants to install a linear drain in the shower, but doesn't want to lower the sub-floor. Bathroom floor is already lined up with the hallway, so we've got about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch drop from the bathroom floor to the shower floor. Going to have to find a really slim drain, or customize one. Kinda nervous to see what we walk into when we get back Sunday, lol. I should mention the bathroom was designed for just a tub. We are turning it into just a shower. All tile, trying for a seamless shower.
I can’t walk on it right now you big dumb bitch but as soon as it’s safe I’ll sashay on out there and snap a picture
Sounds like you want to do a curbless shower? I did this a long time ago at my old place, you're likely going to have a pretty significant build up of the floor. Great look tho.
Not a fan of how LG looks. Was all set to order the Cafe series from GE but then found out the stainless steel finish doesn't have the fingerprint resistant finish. UGH.
Need to buy a couple wall mounts for a 55 inch tv and a 65 inch tv. Any recommendations or will pretty much anything with good reviews on Amazon work?
I haven't bought one in a while - but look for something low profile, and full motion. I bought some cheap one a few years ago and it works fine it just seems to really push the TV off the wall and it looks odd from the side. Are you getting the wires run in the wall while re-doing the house? If not you can buy some little kits on amazon to do the same for pretty cheap.
I have two of these and they worked well. Just need to make sure it fits your tv mount configuration. Had an old plasma that didn’t work. Mount-It! Articulating TV Wall Mount Corner Bracket, VESA 400 x 400 Compatible, Stable Dual Arm Full Motion, Swivel, Tilt Fits 32, 37, 40, 42, 47, 50 Inch TVs, 115 Lbs Capacity with HDMI Cable Black
That seems good, that mount is just a little more expensive than I'd expect to pay. The 'cheap' ones are in the $30 range, and I've hung some of these and been very happy with them, and some that I haven't been that happy with. Something like this Is 2.6 from the wall, and $40 cheaper or so.
I bought a full motion one from amazon for 30-40, but haven't installed it yet. Like was mentioned, make sure the mount accepts the vesa pattern of your tv.
:: I've never checked this before and have never run into a problem, are they all decently new TVs? Probably won't have a problem.
oldest one is 5 years and it's likely to be replaced soon anyway. If it's in the budget, it will be replaced during the move.,
Most of these mounts are adjustable. I got 2 mounts for my basement and both fit their respective TVs without a problem. I got mounts on monoprice.com and was very happy with them, they were reasonably priced too, as everything on monoprice is.
It'll be in the manual, or I can find it if you post your model number. I know that I almost bought one online that was really popular, but found out that my pattern wasn't accepted. I don't think it's an obsolescence thing as far as I can tell
yea, I saw the websites all have a feature where you just put your model number in. will do that when I get home. Thanks
Does anyone else live in a community with multiple gates? Meaning once you pass the main gate - there's another gate to get to a certain residential streets. This is a golf community so I guess the secondary gates are to prevent golfers from going to the houses. I've never seen another community like it. And the HOA meetings they want MORE gates or gates with faster arms. If they went through with it - it would mean I would have to go through three gates to go from my house to my son's elementary school if I wanted to exit the community to the gate closest to the school (they are multiple 'first/main' gates since this community is physically huge). This is insane right?
