Was pretty impressed with some guys ability today to mix 2-3 lifts into 1. The clap pushups into a barbell ab roll(guessing that's what it was) into a clean and jerk was probably my favorite. Also did a DB curl/press into a skull crusher and a box step up with a DB into a goblet squat. Kinda wanted to stick around to see what else he was gonna do.
Those bolts welded to the handles that tighten it to the rack. I was tightening it and the handle snapped. I wasn’t putting that much pressure so I think the weld was just shit
Any of you get nervous over a certain muscle you push too hard. I'm perfectly fine at pushing everything to the maximum but get a bit nervous about hamstrings, today was Romanians/snatch pulls/weighted GHDs. First 2 went fine, thought my hamstring was gonna pop doing the weighted GHDs and hamstrings are a pretty easy muscle to tear. Need stronger hamstrings but it's the 1 muscle I'm scared to push too hard.

I can't fucking stand cross fit chodes who come into nice gyms, take $800 barbells and put them in racks ruining their kernelling
hensleya , do you remember the adjustable bench you recommended for me maybe a month back. Should have bought then but held off.
Have you used/reviewed a Hypervolt or any recovery systems like those? Have a couple areas that I just can't get better and annoying me big time. Don't want to spend that much on something like that but if I could use it for a long time and it helps consistently then probably worth it.
Haven’t used the hypervolt, but I’ve heard good things. You can DIY one with a reciprocating saw and different types of balls.
The awful feeling when you're finished doing deadlifts and realized you did it at 10 pounds lower than what you planned on, not really sure how I managed to fuck it up but I did. Did 10 reps at 10 pounds higher to counterbalance it, I guess. Bought that bench and the hypervolt, see how it goes.
But how did the set 10 pounds lower feel? Did you at least feel good blasting it out? Sometimes I lower the weight like that and focus on speed (while maintaining good technique of course). Seems to really help, especially with my back. My back is just way ahead of my bench now, and I don't even deadlift. I'm starting to blast out 315 rows for reps, and I've dropped back work down to one day per week now. It still seems to be responding. Squat seemingly has stalled out. Think I'm playing too much basketball and it's fatiguing my legs a lot. 495 squat by next Feb definitely seems out of reach now.
It was hex bar 340 for 30 total reps, I really can't say that I can tell the difference between 330 and 340. Volume day, sometimes I do 12-10-8, sometimes I try to do a very hurting first set so the second 2 won't be as bad. Today I did, 16, 8, 6; 16 fucking sucked. Did 10 @ 350 after to pay for my miscalculations. Put 2 25s on instead of another 45(since they're so much easier to load) and for some reason thought that was the equivalent of 3 45s and a 10, no idea why.
Serious question, how do you get your junk out of the way for BB shrugs? Not that I'm clanging the bar into em but definitely in the path.
I don’t do them, but the only thing I can think of is to lean your torso forward a bit so the bar is further down your leg
Haven't pressed since last Friday and that was a split session with some legs and it was shit, biceps/pecs have just been killing me but feeling a lot better now. Hopefully have a good workout tomorrow and can eventually get to being good at pullups again.
Man there has been some insane lifting at IPF worlds thus far. 57kg women was a battle down to the last deadlift between USA (Meg Scanlon) and Canada (Maria Htee). Canada misses her 2nd attempt on grip, goes up 7.5kgs/15lbs to beat USA for gold and Canada’s first female open worlds. What a gutsy call and pull. Meg set the Squat and Bench world records and Maria took the total world record. Ivanna Von Weisenberg from Sweden hit a 203kg/447lb squat at 72kg/158lb bodyweight for a new world record. Taylor. Fucking. Atwood. Doing what he does and hitting a 3.8x bodyweight squat. 283kgs/623lbs @ 74kgs/163lbs bodyweight for a new world record. The men’s 83kg kicks off here soon at 11:30 EST which should be a fight between America’s Russel Orhii and New Zealand’s brett Gibbs
just saw Meg's squat on IG. 392 @ 125lbs lol and taylor atwood is only up 250lbs on my squat at 10lbs less bodyweight. this is fine, nbd at all
Megs is Impressive. Shes done 3 Ironmans and 10 marathons. now shes a beast at powerlifting and dabbling w/ Oly Lifting
Holy fuck what a finish in the 72kg women. All came down to 3rds for Brazil, Canada, Virgin Islands, and Sweden. Brazil misses guaranteeing the other 3 a medal so now everyone is shooting for gold. All 3 played strategically with bluff attempts then changed as they went. Canada played it perfectly to slide into Silver and Kim Walford getting redemption for all the USAPL bullshit and wins another gold as a Virgin Islands lifter. 83 men are starting now on olympicchannel.com if anyone wants to watch
Russel. Orhii. 690lb squat at 183lbs. HUGE World Record. That squat is up there with the guys in mine and bigjrock weight class
I think 4 of the 83kg men just set a new WR deadlift. Wow what a session. USA brings home gold, squat WR, and total WR for the class
Anyone have any bench lockout favorites? Shoulder has been feeling good enough to do JM press again, gonna get back in that game. Always felt like that had great carryover to the bench
Came in 2nd, but was 13kg behind. Apparently had a quad issue he was working with. Russ was 35.5kgs ahead of 3rd haha
IPF has pretty strict drug testing, right? Guess I can see it if your whole life is dedicated to it but Orhii is just a fucking specimen.
I’m not sure I’d say strict. Their Out Of Meet Testing could definitely be more frequent, but I don’t think anyone is “beating” a test. It took russia building secret tunnels to beat a test for the Olympics not some secret masking agent.
Thor tore his Plantar Fascia. He’s gonna keep competing, but this has to hinder him big time I’d think
Trying to find results and struggling a bit but saw 1 place where he won deadlift today. Whether that was his group or overall, no clue.
Not sure what happened to Ray Williams, but he bombed out of the meet. He weighed in 17kgs/37lbs less bodyweight so he’s clearly sick. Missed all 3 squats at 970. Came out and took a 275lb Bench then called it. Devastating to watch
