What exactly is your point here? I said I dont trust Musk when he says it'll be all Sci-Fi. Are you saying I should? If not, what's your point? Just arguing bc its me?
My point is he never lied about the X's look. He built something the entire industry is building and thr best selling car class. Being mad at him for that is retarded
Bless your heart if you think I give a shit about who's posting. It could be your biscuit account and same result. Musk is deserving of a wide amount of criticism
So I should trust what he says bc everyone lies? That's your argument? I'm not mad, I'm just not trusting what he says about a future project design. I'll wait to see it. Its laughable you have such an issue with that. Excuse me for not slurping up every word of his.
You have plenty of reason to be skeptical, but your reasoning is faulty. Once again you're making up arguments that's Ihvr never said. It's really sad that you can't just have a discussion on what was actually posted
As posted, I'm def skeptical of these things on the truck Under 50k better than an F150 AND perform better than a 911 tow 60,000 pounds (while be remotely efficient on the battery)
This is actually what I’m most curious to see, the real life battery drain while towing something. Every vehicles mpg goes down when towing but curious how much an EV is affected. The electric motor torque will definitely let them pull some eye popping stuff but for how long. That’s why I think they’ve got some battery stuff in the works cause with current tech I don’t see it.
Twice as much towing as a the biggest Dooley out there? Almost as much as a semi truck? I'll believe it when I see it.
Pulling at 1 mph and towing at highway speeds are two different things. Pulling it isnt the hard part, stopping it is. That's why I'd be shocked if a Tesla truck has a towing capacity of 60k lbs.
95,000lbs in snow is impressive for a SUV that’s designed for 5,000lbs. Wasn’t a defense of the truck.
Oh it is impressive. I took that as you meaning "well the X can tow 95k lbs." If that's not what you meant, cool. Like I said, pulling and towing are two completely different things. I just dont see Tesla making a truck big enough to tow 60k lbs.
The article says it is being done to "Match the configuration they purchased"... So I guess they *should* know they got items only available to a higher range model. It does seem weird they'd do this after the fact. I guess they didn't have the software ready to lock the car to certain configurations??? Seems weird and I'd probably be annoyed as an owner, but at the same time I'd have gotten stuff for free.
Or it was a shady Corp tactic to release them knowing they'd later take away the products, hoping people would get attached to the enhanced features and purchase them at this date
If it was done as a free trial and was disclosed as such, that's cool. Hell the poker app we use in the poker thread gave me a free trial this week. The bells was whistles of the VIP package (opponents stats) was cool but not enough for me to pay for it so I let it expire. If Tesla just didnt have the software to lock it out and is now going back to do it, that's fucked up. Guess we'll see as more news comes out.
It’s just an over the air update to limit the car to what the buyers actually paid for. They sell the Standard Range+ as the Standard Range. The difference is some range and software features that they can change over the air and buyers were told this would eventually happen. Originally the early ones came out unlocked, but by the sounds of owners forums they now come out of the factory locked, so this is just to capture the rest. SR+ is 39k or whatever, but if you call in you can get the SR for 35k, like you can call in for the LR RWD.
My point was these units are already sold. Regardless if they lock them now or not, the price they sold for isnt changing.
I don’t get your point. All I stated was that Elon kept his promise on a 35k car, which you can buy today. You entered with an lol what?
I'm confused at what you're upset with here. The 35k car, which was produced and still available, has lower options. The current ones are locked The original ones were sold unlocked @35k and owners are saying they knew they'd be locked/restricted down the road. They sold the 35,000 car as promised.
All of that is cool. No issue at all. I'm laughing at you spinning this as part of Elon's promise. He already met that. They could have left these cars with the extras and they still sold them for $35k, which was the promise. I understand why they locked them and dont blame them for it. But them locking them today has nothing to do with Elon keeping a promise. He didnt meet his promise today by locking them. These people didnt pay $50k and get a rebate of $15k today. They paid $35k. So saying this was just Elon keeping his promise was just really weird. Nobody said a bad word about him yet you strolled in championing this as him keeping his promise, a promise that was met months ago and wasnt depended on anything that's happening now. Edit: thought ksim14 posted this
Selling a 35k car is Elon keeping his promise, which was “lol they’ll never sell a 35k car” on here’d multiple times. Also see: “Elon lies all the time posts” But mainly I posted that cause I knew you’d have a mental aneurysm and here we are.
It's funny, you stated a provable fact and it's taken as "spin". At launch of the 3 they didn't have the software restrictions ready, so actually sold a 40k car for the 35k he claimed all along. Then would "fix" it later and people got free shit for a few months Couod you imagine the shit storm at launch if they started selling everything except the lowest model bc it was "production ready"
It's a fact that's not relevant at all. That's why its spin. But I'm not surprised you're hear with your cape on.
Lmao from the guy who does nothing but be the opposite. Me trying to explain something to you that you don't understand is not wearing a cape Once again you miss the point. He sold 35k cars bc he promised and they weren't ready to restrict it so they sold it anyways and would patch at a later date. He kept he promise, which is why Kslim posted it
Thought about this earlier. Tesla obviously installed heated seats so that's a sunk cost. Turning them off doesnt recoup that expense. It just makes it a complete waste. What's the point of that? Same with tuning the battery down. Why? Should have just left shit like that on and told the customer thanks for being a customer, keep that shit on us. It's like going to a restaurant, ordering a small coke, and they give you a large. Instead of just saying "ahh shit my bad. Oh well, enjoy the large." they come over and pour out your large and give you a small cup. That accomplishes as much as installing heated seats and then turning them off.
If customers like those extras and Tesla has a mechanism for paying for them to be unlocked, then locking them makes sense. Similar to the free trials of Sirius XM or OnStar that often accompany car purchases.
If Sirius XM gives you a free trial, they arent out anything. Tesla is out those heated seats. It's not like the owners are taking them back and giving them back to Tesla so they can use them again. Putting extras in a car that the owner didnt buy is just a waste.
