Enjoyed it quite a lot. Would've liked to see a bit more character development, something Arkie Proud mentioned, but it didn't hinder the story. It's just more of a personal preference. Even so, it read very fast and kept me entertained.

    This book.

Going to be a dope movie if it gets made. Sony owns the rights already.

My jaw fell to the floor when he went in the chat room and there were a bunch of other Jasons. I did not expect that at all and thought it was brilliant. I'm so glad I was wrong re: my infinite loop theory. I also loved how each of the different Jasons had different personalities based on their experiences, I wish Crouch delved into that more.

You make a great point (which I bolded). In theory, there should have been way more Jasons than the book mentioned when he found his way back to Chicago v1.0. All that said, why weren't there multiple Jason v2.0s? He went through the multiverse a bunch of times as well (I'm pretty sure the bag of ampoules proves that).

    Finished.

9.5/10 for me. I just really enjoyed it. The middle to end didn't drag and he paced it very well.

Bonus we got a legitimate, well thought out ending.

Think it was a great book, I think I enjoyed it most because it wasn't a time traveling book but had similarities. So, it wasn't completely foreign in some ways, but very unique in others.

Had some things that prevented it from being a 10/10, see first post last week, but great writing and kept me turning pages.

Halfway through chapter 7. Pretty sure I have most of it figured out.

figured out the kidnapper was an alternate Jason around the same time LKRFN88jp did. Pretty much confirmed it in chapter 6. Having what I'm going to refer to as original Jason see Daniela murdered after it became obvious that she always loved him and they hooked up was brutal.

Obviously Alt Jason regretted rejecting the kid and Daniela and worked this up to switch with the Jason in the timeline he and Daniela were together.

Going to be interested in seeing what happens from here on out. Jason just got called out for lying and then drugged and put back on the gurney

Started this yesterday after work and just finished. Fun, quick read. Dont really have anything else to add to what has been already said.

    Re the ending
Pretty risky leaving the destination up to Charlie, knowing what we know. Kid just went through some pretty crazy shit and may not be in the best mind space. Just saying.

I could have used a little more character development. Thought Crouch did a good job in that he developed them, and there wasnt anything that didnt make sense, I just could have used a bit more. Also, Daniella bought the story of what all happened pretty easily. Would have liked to see her struggle a little more with it.

With every book, I think about if it would make a good movie. All I can picture is that scene in The Matrix Trilogy where there's a million Agent Smiths and all are converging on Neo. That's what Im picturing with all the Jasons as our Jason and fam are booking it for the box.

Finished this morning. 9/10 my qualms with it are small and they have all already been mentioned I believe.

Man what a fun read. Crouch tugged on all of my feels during this book. I was angry, happy, sad, nervous etc... Obviously Crouch has us rooting for POV Jason, but the end when all the other Jason's didn't get to be with Daniela and Charlie was heart wrenching.

I had what was going on figured out pretty early when we learned what the box was, so I obviously started formulating end game theories. I thought he would:
    1. Get back and do the obvious and kill Jason 2 or put him back in the box and resume his life

    or

    2. Get back into a reality much like his own, but one where he fought off Jason 2, and kill a perfect innocent version of himself

The part at the gun store had me start questioning those theories, then when he logged into the chat room and was generated the s/n Jason 9... holy shit, really great twist that caught me off guard.

Addressing a few points, someone said they thought Daniela bought Jason 1's explanation of everything too easily, I didn't think so. It was obvious he wasn't the same Jason that had left that morning, she knew that there was a huge change in the Jason she was living with after that night Jason 1 was sent through the box, and she talked to the other Jason who fell for the Bahamas trick. I thought it was plausible.

Also I agree there should have been more Jason 1s and 2s in this universe but that would have made the book too clunky so I'll suspend my disbelief.

Really want to know what happened to Amanda. I like to think she went back and made a world for herself in that futuristic place she opened up. I was listening to the audiobook and was focused on something else when they left that world, so I can't remember if there was anything really wrong with it other than it wasn't Jason's world.

I could go on for a while with thoughts on the book. Really enjoyed it.

So the world that the book is set in is going to be left with thousands of Jasons? Clearly, Crouch didn't consider how many problems that would cause at the DMV.

    JK. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Just finished and came here to post about

letting Charlie pick, he is just probably going to pick a world good or bad where his gf is super slutty with him. Probably safer to let wife pick and then destroy the box in the world they make it to.

Fantastic book though, absolutely loved it.

If anyone has epub/mobi or the Wayward Pines triology hit me up, I'm wanting to read more of this guy's work.

edit: oh shit my bad guys, thought i spoilered that

Just finished. This is the quickest I've read a book since Half Blood Prince.

10/10 for me and I can't say a thing that hasn't already been said. Thanks for introducing me to Crouch, dudes. Wayward Pines is on my to-read list now.

New Blake Crouch book released tomorrow called Recursion.

Memory makes reality. That’s what New York City cop Barry Sutton is learning as he investigates the devastating phenomenon the media has dubbed False Memory Syndrome—a mysterious affliction that drives its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived.

Neuroscientist Helena Smith already understands the power of memory. It’s why she’s dedicated her life to creating a technology that will let us preserve our most precious moments of our pasts. If she succeeds, anyone will be able to re-experience a first kiss, the birth of a child, the final moment with a dying parent.

As Barry searches for the truth, he comes face-to-face with an opponent more terrifying than any disease—a force that attacks not just our minds but the very fabric of the past. And as its effects begin to unmake the world as we know it, only he and Helena, working together, will stand a chance at defeating it.

But how can they make a stand when reality itself is shifting and crumbling all around them?

Gonna start Recursion this afternoon. Im going to start a thread for it and give spoilered chapter thoughts like a Book of the Month thread.

Seems like we'll have enough guys who are going to read it to do that.

Had this on the kindle since this book club and just got around to it. I think a day and a half is the fastest I’ve finished a book since my early Dan Brown fascination.

Impossible to put down, smart but accessible, had feeling, suspense.

    it’s a solid 9.
