Really? Was going to go to Starland Ballroom in Jersey on Tuesday but a lot of the videos on YouTube so far from this tour he has just sounded "off" to me. The band sounds great in all of them but he seems to be letting the audience do a lot of the chorus singing and his register just seems too low to do the songs justice. Maybe I expect too much but he was always, always praised for being vocally spot on. Yes, I realize he's an old man now. Leaving the house mid-week would require me to believe I was going to see something extraordinary. Glad you caught a good show.
He was better the last time I saw him which was maybe two years ago but I thought he was still good. Really for me its all about the experience of seeing these bands live. I must have seen Motley 5 or 6 times the last few years that they toured and while Vince sounded just awful I enjoyed the shows anyway. I really do all I can to support live music. Most of the singers aren't as good as they used to be but I enjoy almost every show I go to. I try to go to as many of these concerts as possible knowing that most of these bands don't tour all that much and you really never know when they will hang it up for good.
I always remember my grandfather telling me stories of watching Willie Mays when he played at the Polo Grounds with the Giants and at the end of his career playing with the Mets at Shea Stadium. Yeah Willie was pretty much washed up with the Mets but he was still Willie Mays. Thats pretty much how I feel seeing guys like David Coverdale and Stephen Pearcy at this point of their careers; clearly not the same as they were in their primes but they are still pretty great to me. The crowd size last night was really impressive and that was great to see. My advice is if you are fans of these older bands and get a chance to see them live its so worth it even if they aren't as good as they were in their primes.
One of these days I've got to go on one of the Monsters of Rock cruises and the M3 festival thats in Baltimore every May.
In a better world, these guys are huge. Got that glorious Ratty guitar sound. Primarily a speed metal band, I love that their drummer downshifts beautifully to cruise through buttville. Guy knows how to Blotz
Gettin close to where I get off the bus in terms of thrash but they can earnestly butt unlike other metal bands. Lost art
No idea where Henrik Ostergaard and Dirty Looks have been hiding in my life. Dude sounds like Marc Storace and Mark Slaughter's assbaby in the best way. Big big fan
I picked up the Japanese version on cd in the 90's, loved it then and love it now! Completely overlooked it in the 80's because it wasn't issued on disc until a decade after it's original release. I was an anti-vinyl loser and while I had lots of cassettes that album on cassette wasn't exactly an easy find in stores.
I would have thought you'd prefer their second release to be honest. If you haven't heard it seek it out, less metal/heavy than the self titled. There are a couple heavier songs on it I enjoy, especially this one.
Is Axe the worst band ever? Did bands from Gainesville suddenly start representing the community of Gainesville in 1980? Yes, that front guy did, in fact, just rock a quick make out with some dude at 0:40 while said dude was humping some other passed out dude's foot (?)
I dunno guys, the nun lap dancing the dead guy at 3:00 is pretty innovative and avant- garde. Probably over you guys’ heads. Makes me wanna throw a knock-down dragout rock and roll party in the street this Friday night at midnight.
Hey guys I saw Ratt last night and it was a really good show. Its a shame shame shame that Warren DeMartini isn't in the band anymore but I had a good time anyway. pnk$krtcryna$ty if they come around to wherever you are you should definitely go.
I've been on a huge Icon kick this weekend. Plenty of new stuff sitting here to check out but I can't turn Icon off.
That's funny. Self-titled and Night of the Crime just arrived and I've been listening to them with a sporadic interruption from Heaven's Edge
