I mean we are beer nerds mostly, so I get the appeal of Asheville, I know 3 good ones in Charleston plus there's a bunch more we could explore. The groom originally wanted to go to the beach, so it's still in play with Charleston. I don't think anyone is ignorant to the fact that Charleston is an amazing food city. Not that any of you would attend such a thing, but is there a Bama bar for watching a game? I assume there would be in a city like that but idk.
There are more breweries in Charleston than you can realistically exhaust in a weekend. The bar in Mount pleasant they used to watch at closed so I'm not sure about that any more
Lewis BBQ for sure. Other spots on the peninsula I like- Tattooed Moose for your elevated bar food, Stellas for brunch, Xiao Bao Biscuit. 167 Raw is definitely good but it would be hell on earth getting a group of 8-12 seated there.
You aren’t getting 8-12 in 167 unless it’s during off hours. They don’t even have a table for more than what? Four? Five? Royal American is still the best bar in Charleston and has underrated food.
Read back some earlier today, lot of people asking the same questions. But here's one I haven't seen yet: any fishing charters you would recommend? Seems like we have settled on Charleston but going fishing is part of the draw for a few guys, seems like as good a place as any to go. Although we are looking at last weeked of September so hurricane season could influence our bookings.
I think what we're going to do is have whoever wants to fish come in a day early and go so we'll probably only end up needing 1 boat. But we'll see. Someone did find a 10-12 person one last week, but I can't recall if it was one of the Inland charters.
You fellas have the flooding like Savannah gets? It seems like Savannah has the worst runoff water planning in Georgia.
And it's still sinking with all the shit they're building. Don't worry though, the 80th time they fix the crosstown will be when they get it right
Girlfriends car was flooded parked off of Calhoun. Tow truck driver said he saw cars floating the water was so high
Any concern about booking an airbnb in downtown? Located near Shepherd and Nassau? Seems like a solid location a couple blocks off King. Or should we look elsewhere?
Not sure how many will actually go fishing. Don't want to go inshore, just had someone in the group look up different charters and the inshore one he found didn't have the same limits on people. Maybe, I didn't really look into it at the time.
Any thoughts on strip clubs? Are they topless only or could we find some real nasty bottomless BYOB joint?
Thee southern Belle is called goodfellas now. It's fully nude but I don't think it's BYOB anymore like the Belle was. I'm not positive though as I haven't been to one in a long long time
Big sale and customer appreciation event at the Johns island habitat store today. That store gets so much good shit too.
To be fair, the pictures didn't match the street address listed. Turns out the house was nearby but different address. But I'd sleep in a crack house so I'm not picky.
Going to Charleston this weekend for 3 days. Got 4 boys ages 7-9. Staying in Mt Pleasant. Looking at going to the beach at IOP, doing the aquarium, USS Yorktown, maybe Fort Sumner. Any advice, activity tips or restaurant recs would be greatly appreciated.
may be too late on this, but my best advice for someone going on a bachelor party there (assuming you haven't been there before) is to go a day early by yourself. I got an AirBNB spare room a block off King St for I think $60 for one night. Only way I got to eat at 167 and also able to wake up early for Jack's Cafe breakfast and a tourist day... before 11 dudes showed up looking for booze and girls for the remaining 48 hours we were there. Flight prices mid-week were cheaper than end of the week that more than made up for the $60 solo Airbnb cost.
Mrs. Titties and I will be gracing your fine city next weekend. Only have a day or two to check out the high points. Neither of us have ever been. What’s a quick list of the “must dos” for sights, food, etc.?
Have a friend coming down for campaign season to work for Mayor Pete. Can someone compile a short guide to Charleston -- couple decent (not extravagant) restaurants and things to do? He's married and not a big partier...but will check out the breweries
Your friend is a Democrat so I take it as a given that they are gay. They just need to go in a couple bars downtown and I guarantee they will hear about plenty of drag queens, male prostitutes and antique stores
Reading through this page, did Charleston ever address the flooding issue? I lived on Rutledge during college and Cannon Park would flood over the park benches. Would sit on on the 3rd story of our house and watch cars try to make it through the water and get stuck. Car after car.
