Here’s a cat from Huntsville that I’m digging of late. Solid following and his album last year “freedom summer” was pretty great. Give him some streams if you like him
I gave it a go and I’ll pass again. I’m a fan of a lot of the new era but the futures and lil babys of the world get me in my old school cuntiness
Man this takes me back. Saw the Up In Smoke tour in New Orleans in 2000. Greatest tour of all time. Dre, Snoop, Cube, Em, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Proof, Warren G, D.O.C, Xzibit, etc.
Happy to have some new RTJ. With today’s ways to getting music and news/buzz around a project you don’t need the long announcement to release time. I kinda hate hearing about something if I can’t hear it within a week or so.
Follow up. They are all a little before my time but pharcyde, De la soul & Eric B/rakim’s old asses put on a hell of a show. Was really fun. Unfortunately for me I remember that better than Wu. A nice gentleman handed me a marijuana cigarette a few songs into Wu and and then refused to take it back, the only polite thing to do was smoke it all (and I was already drunk). Luckily my wife did the adulting and got us home safely (although she sure wanted a lot of accolades for calling an Uber and getting my fucked up ass to meeting spot). She had never heard a wu Tang song before and this morning she said all I know it’s for the children, it’s nothing to fuck with and you have to protect your neck Bae that’s basically it welcome to the fam
Lol there’s a lot more I can add to movie that’s definitely going in the stupid shit my husband did thread on her message board and getting triple digit likes
Yes First time there and haven’t been to a concert in a long fucking time, but holy shit at their sound system. Was towards back of 101 and could feel the bass through my body Or maybe I was just really drunk/high idk
I haven’t listened to rap in a long tome but who’s popular now? I know there seems to be a bunch of lils. Lil peep, lil nas x, lil yachty, lil xan, lil uzi vert. Is baby goth good?
My usual rotation: Denzel Curry Danny Brown JID Run The Jewels Flatbush Zombies EARTHGANG Vic Mensa Rittz Mick Jenkins and a bunch of late 90's rap bc I'm old.
Friend of mine from Mobile dropped an album today and it pretty fuckin nice. On all streaming services Brandon Chicken dblplay1212
Blocked at work but will check out later. Mobile rap always trips me out. Maybe bc I haven't lived there in so long but when I hear Down the Bay, Birdsville, etc it just seems so weird to me.
Anyone else listen to Benny the Butcher? I've gotten into his music quite a bit the past 6 months or so. He has a little bit of a 90's in New York flavor to him.
That pusha verse is nasty and he also has has one with black thought that wrecks. Awesome rapper but my god black thought may be the most underrated lyricist in the history of the game. Dude is so fucking good
Benny has become the best rapper of the Griselda group. Tana Talk 3 was one of the best albums of last year, 97 Hov is such a banger
That dreamville is kinda meh but ladies, ladies, ladies is fire and there’s a couple others I dig. Nice group of rappers but I feel they used the b side beats just about all the way through
