Crushed my PR on a Wilpers 30 min ride today. Got to 252. Crazy how some of you guys hit 600.

Thanks. I can see progression from when I first started. Which class types are the most difficult out there?

Really depends on each person and their strengths. For me, a Tabata class is more likely to physically exhaust me than a climb ride would.

Nice job, just keep riding. I started out around 250 for 30 min, now PR is shy of 440. I don't think any of us are hitting 600 for 30 min, unless Tony Wonder did it. I need a 45 min ride to get into the 600's, though I've been so sick the last three weeks I might need a week to hit 600 now.

Who are the members that use a “bootleg” peloton? THF ? Anyone else? Have a quick question do you guys get shoutouts when you hit milestone rides?

My pr on a 30 min was 298 last friday. Felt like a champ but also a chump falling just short of 300.

I’m regularly in the top 20%ish of the rides i take so you all must be godly.

30 min pr is 404. Probably avg around 380-90.

I have no idea how 600 is possible. What avg. Output is that and what avg resistance does that typically take?

I have been so focused on Orange Theory I haven’t had a chance to ride in a while. I need to get back on it. I miss the rides. However work and preparing for a wedding hasn’t helped. Will keep you posted though. I wouldn’t see why anyone wouldn’t get a shout out for milestones except for PRs. I don’t think the bootleg bikes measure those.

Yeah I have never come close to 600 on a 30 min. I don't ride many 30s and when I do it is more of a take it easy ride. Looks like my best is a 461 on a 30 back in December.

If I am trying to push a ride my goal is to break 600 output on a 45. That is a pace of 200 every 15 minutes. To hit that your average ride output is going to be around 222.

I never warm up at the called cadences. I usually warm up at 80 cadence with a 45-50 resistance.

You will not hit high numbers on their call outs. But build up your starting and recovery cadence/resistant on what you feel.

I mean it is a nice sense of accomplishment.

I have gotten some from Alex before that were not around a milestone. To be honest it caught me off guard and refocused me and I pushed harder because of it. Something about them seeing the stats and saying you are crushing it makes me push harder personally.

600 in 45 is a pretty good push for me. 625 and up is one I'll remember the next morning. I have always warmed up easy (95 cad., 40-42 res.) and still do so for consistency though those numbers have trickled up a bit over time as fitness improved. I don't hit 50 res. until the warm up is over unless its specifically a high res warmup. I never try for PRs until I realize I'm close late in a ride, i.e. I must be feeling strong that day.

I stopped paying attention to milestones and did my 500th during an encore ride that had around 40 people. At least 25 of them high fived me, which was pretty fun.

Jenn used to call my name for no reason fairly often. :tebow:

Ok. Made the final decision to pull the trigger. Only question is what is worth it to get through Peloton vs. getting from somewhere else as far as the accessories. Mainly when it comes to the shoes, mat, and heart rate monitor. Do you need their HR monitor to link to your stats or can you use a 3rd party?

I feel like the weights, headphones, and mat you can easily get off amazon or whatever.

I'm fine with the peloton weights and headphones. they're just weights, though, so others do whatever. i think Daniel Ocean uses 5 lbers instead of 3 lb ones. people also use bluetooth headphones instead of the wired Peloton ones but I don't have a recommendation there, either, because I don't have issues with the headphones as unlike a treadmill or elliptical, i have no issues with pulling away from the screen/outlet.

cannot recommend enough the Scosche Rhythm+ HR monitor. The Peloton one is trash.

I'm fine with the Peloton shoes but it probably couldn't hurt to go to a bike shop and get your own. just get the look delta ones. (or get another kind and be willing to swap the pedals).

hit me up for a referral code.

A little while I tried to use 15 pound ones that’s s real workout. I had a difficult time finding a way to quickly grab them since they obviously are too big to put on the weight holders on the back of the bike. I just use Bluetooth headphones too and five pound weights from target. I bought the mat and shoes from Peloton but honestly I think if I could I’d buy everything 2nd source.

i bought during the Black Friday sale so i got the extra stuff for free. looking at it now, i would definitely not waste money on that stuff. weights are weights but you can find plenty of good rides without them or just ride hard during the weight portion imo. bluetooth headphones are probably better, anyways. and while i've found the shoes to be fine, you're probably better off getting fitted at a store if you're going to ride very seriously.

and, again, that HRM i linked above is exceptional.

1-5lb weights are basically free. I took my kids to a dollar store the other day and there were whole sets.

I’ve had a good experience with the wahoo heart rate monitor arm band, fwiw. Pretty cheap as well iirc

looks like ANT+ ones work with it, according to two minutes of google. if you have a couple of ones you're interested in or one you already own, just google the name + peloton to see if it'll work

Took a low impact ride today. Seemed harder than the advanced beginners and pop rides. Christine has some knockers

I usually rock 30 minute rides since I use the bike to fit in a workout when kids and work make it tough. Did a 45 min one today and broke my PR. Nothing crazy, 413 but felt nice to get a good ride in.

Trying to get back to consistency with lifting 3 days and peloton being 3 days a week.

I also use the Scosche Rhythm+. Very happy with it, and it has lasted a lot longer than my Taotronics headphones did. Thought about getting better quality headphones, but then wonder why I would bother when I don't really care about audio quality in this setting and don't otherwise ever wear them.

Wear Giro shoes, which fit well and do the job but don't inspire feelings that I love Giro or anything.

I like the new audio settings - more instructor, less music balances outs the female instructor voices better for my ears, which allow me to focus more intently on their hard bodies.

My understanding is that Low Impact can be hard work, but involves less wild swings in output and less jumping in/out of the saddle than stuff like HIIT and Tabata. I like those or power zone rides when I'm already sore from skiing, hiking (climbing), etc.

Low impact I think is just less strain think walking instead of running. So lower numbers (cadence and incline) but since pace is consistent you still get a good workout.

I do. They suggest plywood to avoid rocking. We tried it with multiple depths and it never really made a difference. We just have the mat on carpet and eventually the weight of the bike just settles in. It still rocks a tiny bit but it’s fine.
