What do you like to play? Aside from the AAA titles that you're probably already aware of, maybe check sales on Steam and see if you like anything?
I have a ton of games, including Skyrim and Divinity Sin 2 on the ol Steam account. They just haven't got me out of my current lo-fi funk
Anybody here play League of Legends? Hit level 30 a few weeks ago, and started playing ranked. Mostly played ARAM 1-30, so i'm pretty bad at lane phase, but much better once we start grouping up to fight (I guess because of the similarity to ARAM). Not sure if there's a league of legends specific thread, so posting here. Would love to have a few TMBers to play with occasionally that are within my skill range (silver). In game name is "theLolyer" Also, does TMB have a discord channel? If not, we should make one imo
We used to have a LoL thread that died long ago, maybe lost in the crash. A decent handful of posters played together. OTownMagic (RIP) played a lot. But this was like 5 years ago. I play here and there sometimes, Riot name is same as username here, Petito. It's still a solid game but long games and insanely toxic people in ranked bring it down a couple notches for me. I'm patiently waiting for WoW Classic
Steam Summer Sale is live!! So far i'm looking at finally getting Kentucky Route Zero and Cuphead. I really should get Dying Light or take it off my wishlist, I hear great things about it. Thinking about American Fugitive, Battletech, Stellaris, and The Council, anyone played these yet?
Stellaris is pretty fun. Reminds me of total war/civilization where you lose track of time while playing. I played through a couple of campaigns, and I felt like I barely scratched the surface of the game
How long are your queues? I played once this morning, and haven't been able to get back in a game since even after 15+ minute queues
I hope any Path of Exile peeps have been enjoying this league. It’s been crazy fun with the league mechanic and melee rebalance.
Nah fuck buying games on Epic store, I'll skip until it's on steam and all the bugs are fixed. Maybe just pirate it. Also has some lackluster reviews: https://www.polygon.com/reviews/2019/9/9/20852642/borderlands-3-review-pc-ps4-xbox-one https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3-review/
People are upset that their launcher has less features. They give a substantially larger portion of sales to the developer than anyone else so companies are only releasing games on that launcher. So people get upset bc they cant make wishlists and theres no user reviews or something. Its really childish.
It seems like you're willfully ignoring the main reason. It's anti-competitive behavior that hurts consumers. Everyone should be against companies trying to capture consumers by removing consumer choice rather than competing. Is it childish to hate Comcast for anti competitive tactics too?
i guess i just dont really care about the things epic is lacking and would rather give my money to the devs instead of valve who literally does nothing within the industry except have a good launcher. is epic missing a lot of features that people have grown used to over the years? for sure, but i dont think they're necessary to actually play a game. steam didnt have all of these things at launch and i think its ridiculous to except epic to. what matters most is its 80% to the people who made the game vs 20%. i dont care if i can make a wish list or edit a profile, i care who gets my money. valve and fat fuck gabe newell have spent the last 10 years not making games. where does that money go? to allowing user reviews? nah dude, that doesnt sit well with me.
I get your point but also Dota 2 Underlords Artifact CSGO Portal 2 maybe Also the steam link, controller, and VR. They could be doing more but they aren’t doing nothing.
Portal 2 was 2011 masterpiece Csgo 2012 not a fan of cs but you cant deny its size Dota2 2013. One of the biggest games ever that is designed to do nothing but make money. Which is cool if they werent taking so much from devs. Artifact was very bad, no one wanted it, and i think valve would prefer we act like it never happened. Underlords ive actually heard only good things about So i'll give them credit for underlords, esports, and a little bit of vr. But i want games with actual meat to them, and its been a long time since one of the biggest video game devs out there has given us that
It doesn’t matter if you like the games or not, just pointing out they haven’t been doing nothing. Fair point on the big chunk valve takes from the steam store.
So I just bought this Spoiler MSI GP63 Leopard-077 15.6" Performance Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7-8750H (6 cores) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6G 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 16GB RAM. I haven't gamed since I quit WoW in Jan06. I did play CoD2 for a bit after that. Long story is it has been awhile. Where's the best place to find something to play? I just want something to do when the BFF and kid go to sleep.
Yeah grab Steam and have a field day. WoW Classic is out so you could also relive that time of your life. What’s kind of games do you enjoy?
it's been so long. RPGs? Final Fantasy 7-10 was fun as a kid-teen. GTA San Andreas Mario Galaxy I loved WoW, but I don't have time like that again.
I would try Path of Exile. It’s like the Diablo series and it’s free. You could also do Elder Scrolls: Oblivion or Skyrim. Borderlands is fun. It’s an RPG looter/shooter.
Xbox game pass for PC would be great for you considering you probably haven’t played any of the games on there Also Humble Monthly has some solid games
Boys. I’m building a pc tomorrow since I’ve decided to start streaming in my free time since I enjoy doing it so much (via Xbox). Can’t wait to be ass at kbm D:
Dope. Building as in already purchased parts? Or purchasing parts? Would advise using pcpartpicker if the latter. Good luck! It’s like one of my most favorite things to do ever.
When I switched to PC, it took me about 2 or so weeks (at maybe 1 hour per day) to get used to using the keyboard for movements in FPS games, but using the mouse for aiming is a godsend. I'd start at like 800 DPI with your mouse. I started higher because it felt better to go higher DPI and use wrist movements to aim, but I read about lowering the DPI and using the whole arm for aiming. Improved my aim tenfold. Also biggest upgrade for PC gaming over xbox is higher refresh rates. Get a 144hz monitor (or higher) if you can squeeze it in your budget
I think the monitor idea is really good, but don’t get overzealous with refresh rate. If you’re unable to run over 100fps, you don’t really get the benefits of having a 144hz monitor or higher. Without knowing a budget, it becomes even more pronounced if you’re running only around 60fps. You can save some money on the monitor and spend it elsewhere in the build.
Yeah I bought a cheaper second monitor since I already had a gaming monitor but my next purchase is a better one when I go to a three monitor setup.
I’m building a Ryzen system and with everything I looked up I should be getting about 110-130fps on most games high/ultra settings (at least games I’d be playing at first) so the monitor will likely help.
seconding the high frame rate monitor. i have a 4K 60Hz and 1080p 144Hz and I much prefer using the 144Hz
To disable the Steam community In-game social features (notifications and interface), follow the below procedure: Click on View > Settings. Go the "In-Game" tab. Uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game"
And it’s built. Now I just need to install windows and everything else. I’ll throw my steam name in here when I get to that
