Does the thread title still apply because the lead singer of hot chelle rae becoming a solo country artist is definitely a WTF
Ran across this on Vevo a few months back and really enjoyed it. The video is 3 years old so I am pretty late to the party.
He played that when I saw him last summer. It's a really good song, though was expecting it to be a little more bare-boned from a production standpoint.
Agreed. I hate to say it but the two songs released so far don’t feel much like Tyler Childers to me. To much instrumentals, not enough focus on sound of his voice and the lyrics. I may be way off the mark with that but I hope he’s releasing the more mainstream stuff early to get traction but his Charlestown girl, deadman’s curve type songs are buried later in the album.
It has the Sturgill sailors guide to earth production feel to it. Definitely different but I’m okay with it
It's fine. The actual song/lyrics are good enough to carry it through. Just wouldn't have been the direction I would've gone in.
Saw Whiskey Myers with Brent Cobb on Wednesday (first time for WM but I've seen Cobb a few times) and just saw The Steel Woods last night. Cannot recommend The Steel Woods enough. Loved everything they played. Discovered them probably sometime last year and have been waiting for them to make a stop. Did not disappoint.
So today: Tyler Childers releases a new single Isbell tickets procured for his Ryman residency Reckless Kelly releases live album of Bulletproof Solid day
I think all your’n is a fucking fantastic song. Absolutely love it. If this is how he does “mainstream” I’m fucking here for it
Dude I listen to this song on loop. It’s like, the country my dad listened to when I was a kid mixed with classic rock my mom listened to. Legit nothing on the radio does that. I have no clue what radio Country is but if that’s it then sign me the fuck up
If mainstream likes it, so be it. Most everything on mainstream country radio these days is ear bleeding. I thought the shit on there 5 years ago was awful. It's unimaginable how much worse it is now.
Saw Hayes Carll last night for the first time. One of my favorite shows in a longtime. You forget how deep his catalog is. He’s also got a nice thing going where his sound guy is recording the show every night on this tour, and they’ll throw it on a USB and you can buy it at the merch table right after the show. It’s really clever.
Was just thinking about this, but I think the two singles Childers has released would arguably be two of the weaker tracks on Purgatory. All of that is to say his catalog is really fucking deep, especially considering how many originals he plays live that have never been released officially.
does it say who is opening when/where? trying to go to this in Ashville, and really want to see Lucius as well.
Saw him a shit bar in West Columbia SC this year. Twas sad. Such a talent, never did shit. He's lived a hard life, for sure.
I had kind of expected this new Childers to take a different tone, but it’s pretty spot on for him. Loving it so far
I don’t like it near as much as purgatory but I still enjoy it. Has a real 70s country vibe imo. “Matthew” is an outstanding song.
Love the new Childers. Will have to listen to it a lot more before I compare to Purgatory but he did not disappoint here. The surprise mike and moonpies album is really good as well
This Mike and the Moonpies record is fantastic. They went to London and recorded at Abbey Road, backed musically by members of the London Symphony Orchestra. It’s a concept that could’ve failed horribly, and they fucking nailed it.
Childers writing a somewhat sentimental song about jerking off and putting it on the album is amongst his greatest accomplishments.
