Always wondered, how do male and female pros differ on and around the greens? Obviously women can’t compete distance wise, but there have to be some gals that are lethal in the short game.
They’re awesome. They also average like 80%+ fairways off the tee vs. 50% for men. Sure, the distance is nowhere near the same, but they’re absurdly accurate with their longer clubs.
Common misconception, PGA tour pros hit their 230yd shot a lot straighter than LPGA tour players. Don't forget they're playing wider fairways and hitting the ball 30% shorter so of course those stats look like they're more accurate. But take the same dispersion and extend it 70 yards with tighter fairways and the LPGA accuracy percentage plummets.
Seriously? Dude has clearly fixed something in the short game. He’s clearly playing better. Still has a swing issue and he probably needs a new swing coach but sound the alarm? Nah.
He had a good may but other than that he just hasn't been clicking. His strokes gained stats this year arent the prettiest and the only thing he is top 50 in is putting. He just looks like he's really laboring out there. His comments after missing the cut today aren't the most encouraging.
Eh, they’re playing shorter golf courses so this argument doesn’t hold weight. While they may only hit it 250, they still have the same club into greens than men do, because the tees are up so much. They hit their big clubs far more accurately than the men do. Granted, it’s a much shorter distance. But they also don’t need to hit it as far.
I’d venture to guess the women don’t swing as fast as men either. Easier to keep it in the fairway with slower swing speeds. You ever play with old men then swing slow as fuck but hit every fairway?
Week in, week out you're correct. Hazeltine, this week, isn't that way. I've seen a ton of fairway woods into par 4s
Well majors are always going to be different. The Symettra Tour is playing on a 5100 yard course this weekend for Christ’s sake.
Man back in the early 2000’s we had the two best swings of all time on their respective tours. I’d never seen a female golfer come close to the positions and speed Wie was achieving at like 14 years old. Shit she nearly made the cut at the Sony right? Then Leadbetter either fucked up or let her fuck it up.
Got drunk last night and decided to try to make a putter for the fuck of it. I've heated, flattened, and bonded 14 layers of 1/2" copper pipe into a basic blade design, gonna grind it down and shape it etc. over the weekend. I'll post pictures if it doesn't turn into a massive failure.
Shot 78 yesterday after not playing for the first time in since April. Front nine I played well, back nine, not so much
On a par 4 at my course today I holed out a 52° wedge from 110. I pull/hooked my first drive OB so the hole out was for par. This fucking game.
Weird thing happened today. The shaft on my driver ‘shattered’ at impact and the club head flew about 50 yards forward. It’s an old R11 so it was probably just time. This is the second TaylorMade driver I’ve had explode in the last ten years.
My friend has dented the face on at least 4 M3s and M5s in the last couple of months. His swing is 120+, but that's pretty pathetic quality.
A Dremel, hammer, sander, vise, blowtorch, and epoxy are all I've used so far. A drill is probably the only other thing I'll need.
US Senior Open this week. I’ll post pictures for you guys. Hopefully the super has me mowing Fairways or something.
Looking forward to this. A guy I take lessons from a few times a year made it through qualifying for the second time and is playing. Made it through in 2015 and ended up making the cut. Only drives the ball 250ish but is an insane iron and short game player. Finished his qualifier as first alternate after a 20 foot birdie on the first playoff hole. Somehow they rank all the qualifying events based on the strength of the field and his qualifier ended up being one of the toughest. They had some drop outs and he ended up getting the call last week.
