The selling agent said that the buyer was a former NFL player, and he hypothesized CTE was causing the man to act erratically and abandon the house, which he was supposed to be flipping. He purchased it through an LLC, the address of which we tracked back to a Houston area trailer park.
I just called a guy yesterday after filling out the online calculator. Said I would need 8.6kw pv system (approximately 28 modules). This would fall in the $27k price tag range, turnkey. (typically a 7-10 year payoff)
Anyone every go to war with Japanese Beetles? Tell me what you did please. Called Terminix because they have a page dedicated to them. Scheduled an appt, got ghosted on Wed. Called back and scheduled for today. No call no show again. Called them up and got some fucking clown on the phone who proceeds to tell me that they don't do anything for Japanese Beetles.
No but I can’t believe they have a page dedicated to shit they don’t take care of. Then we also have these things called spotted lanternfly, invasive from China, that he was insistent on treating. I’m like buddy, these are not fucking laternfly, they are beetles, they look absolutely nothing alike. Just a complete waste of time.
It’s the avenue I think I’m going to have to go. Would prefer someone else do that because the bitch of it is that it’s a 30’ x 15’ tree.
Just spray the areas you can get to. It is a delayed chemical. It doesn’t have to get on them to kill them. The spray in the general area will effect the surrounding area.
Yeah they eat the leaves, so I have to get all the leaves. They only come around like a month a year so I need to be ready.
First time I’ve ever done grout work. Why didn’t you people tell me to hire someone to do this shit? Why can’t you people read minds?
Need to start pricing hot water heaters. Going tanked - sorry lechnerd. We currently have 2 50 gallon tanks. Based on the calcs I see for 3 people, that seems like overkill. Any reason not to just replace one instead of both?
My AC system is fucking struggling. 2010 install I believe. Was 96 degrees yesterday. Power went out for a bit, interior got to 82. Took it over two hours to get back down to 75
Piggy backing off the above. This is my AC the past week as it sores to close to 100 in Florida. Is this normal? Should I buy a warranty and hope it goes out or what?? My power bill was almost 200 last month for an 1100 sq ft villa. Our AC blows cold too. 58 degrees out of the vent. Seems like it takes forever to cool and then once it kicks off, the place warms right back up.
My gambit to get my insurance company to pay for a new roof following a storm which caused hail and wind damage in the area (and blew over part of my fence) has been a complete failure. First the claim was denied (including the fence damage which they valued like $14 below my deductible), and today I received notice that my policy has been non-renewed due to the condition of the roof. So now I get to spend $15k on a roof and find a better insurance company to insure me going forward. This is not a huge surprise, as we got the house well below market value because it was going to need projects, one of which being the roof. Just had hoped to catch a break on that one.
You should price out water damage to your house while you are it along with a higher electric bill hth
Is there someone that would look at this specifically and not try to sell me anew AC? If so what is that person called?
They were both installed in may of 09. I was thinking about getting ahead of a disaster and getting one good energy efficient model with an automatic shutoff. Bad idea?
I have a Victorian home I bought last year near downtown Denver. Pressure washed the front covered porch area and columns in the front of the house today. I’m mid 30’s but feel 47 today.
Will be interested to hear how tough it is getting a new insurance policy after another company dropped you. I figured they all had access to the same records.
Pre-existing damage, which was questionable. But the roof is of an unknown age and likely 20+ years old. I’m sure it will be impossible to find coverage for the roof, but when I buy a new roof there is no reason for an insurer not to cover me.
I'm sure you're right, I just assumed they would make it difficult for you to get a policy due to having a "claim" on your history.
proud soon to be owner of a full set of KitchenAid appliances + a Bosch 800 series Dishwasher. Smug and broke as fuck right now but the house looks amazing
A lot of major companies have eligibility guidelines for new business on homeowners to be zero claims in the past 3 years. Certain exceptions apply if your insurance score is high enough for forgive a loss (no matter if claim paid out or not), but those can be rare. Might have to go to state high risk pool to get coverage which can be rather expensive.
Starting this morning, the garage door keeps stopping on the way up. Closes just fine. Lubricated the rails to no effect. Anyone have any ideas? We had a brief power outage this morning, i thought maybe the limit switch got fucked up but I have never done that type of tinkering with the garage door opener before, worried about my ability to make the problem worse.
I'm still cutting old grout from my shower...I can't even think about your garage door right now, sorry man. Fucking worst job ever. Used to be cleaning gutters but I'll clean EVERYONE's gutters before I do this shit again.
that's very normal and actually pretty solid time to cool 7 degrees given it being 90+ degrees outside. In general your unit will cool to about 20 degrees below outside temp anyway.
