He’s not making a bad point that the association with the word concentration camp is of a worse degree, but surely they began when we’re currently at today, and if thats the rhetoric it takes to make the point, then stfu.
The freshman Democrats have been great with the media and have been far more successful at changing the media’s focus. Why haven’t people like AOC attempted to take over the phrase “pro-life”. These concentration camps seem like the perfect spot to do so.
Ah, yes. That's a good point, how can you even call these concentration camps if they aren't even gassing people.
He’s making a terrible point, invoking the phrase “never again” is not and does not demean the holocaust, the fact that pointing out that the US is running literal concentration is taboo is a major problem. Let’s not pretend that people aren’t dying in these camps either, but I guess we’re not supposed to be upset until we get to 6 million dead. The Nazi didn’t start gassing people right away, it built up, I doubt we ever get to that point but with the MAGAs itching to shoot people at the border one can never be sure.
I just hope all candidates adopt this so I can expand my preferred candidate list from *checks notes* One.
Maybe make companies like amazon pay more than a can of rc cola's worth in taxes before taxing individuals more imo
and also people are confusing concentration camps with extermination camps that's really the only point that needs to be made http://70.auschwitz.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=85&Itemid=173&lang=en
That rhetorical battle has been settled for a while. Inconsistencies between the literal meaning of "pro life" and what it actually means politically and policy-wise are irrelevant to the people who see themselves as "pro life"
All our student debt is paid off ($500k+) so I believe I’m obligated to hate this proposal. JK that would be fucking awesome.
I should’ve have said tax all investment income, not just dividends, and tax corporations for the unrealized income of the stocks they hold. None of this will happen but it would be nice if these revenue streams were at least taxed at higher rate than rental income.
I remember during the Bush years that people said we should stay in Iraq or Afghanistan because it would dishonor those who died if we left or something. I dont understand the need for inflicting suffering on others if someone in particular somrwhere suffered but it really, really resonates with morons
we have a ton but because the way we owe it due to being silver spooners this would never apply to us but it'd still be super dope
It’s a leGitiMate qUesTion. Anybody running for the Dem nom should be held to account on how they would both fund and translate their policy ideas to legislation. But since he’s not going to be the nom, his plan is just something for him to screech about in between “billionaire” references.
It's not a legitimate question, especially in light of the GOP's recent history on spending and taxation
I'd love to see how it's framed if a bunch of armed black men stood outside a state house to protest the murder of an unarmed black man by police. I doubt it gets called a militia.
I mean they cancelled a Saturday Senate session because of credible threats about armed militia types showing up and apparently the Oregon gop finds this funny
Ah. The joke missed me, seemed like they were just bragging about their white supremacist militias helping out
I'm sure most of you have read it already, but for those who haven't Homage to Catalonia is great, probably gonna finish it today. It's probably one of the most honest reflections on leftism I've ever read.
This shit pisses me off, why can’t congress stop being pussies and fucking do something. As a father of a toddler, these kids deaths hurt to hear and I can’t believe I live in a country where this happens. Fucking cowards.
It’s a non starter from a legislative perspective. It wouldn’t even get unanimous Dem support. Well maybe Bernie could use his great unifying skills to get everyone on board, so who knows.
