Bumachenko just riding the top rank bum of the month club gravy train until bob decides to cash him out against a real challenge.
If he's insisting at fighting at 135, I'm not sure there's a better option out there right now for him. -Robert Easter stunk out the joint against Barthelemy and got clearly beaten by Mikey before that. Barthelemy stunk it out too and is 1-1-1 in his last 3. -Mikey is fighting Danny Garcia. -Pedraza's already lost to Loma. -Commey and Ray Beltran fight each other this weekend, so they won't be back in time for an August fight. -Haney and Teofimo aren't ready yet. Now, I'm open to the discussion and tend to agree that he shouldn't be at 135, but that's separate.
I guess, but I think a better question is who is the biggest challenge to Loma? Most people have Loma and Bud as 1-2 in the P4P rankings, so that fight seems obvious. Though that's a bit of a jump for Loma at welterweight. Maybe do it at junior welterweight. A lot of people want to see him fight Mikey Garcia, but I don't think that's a great fight for Garcia. I like Antonio Orozco, if he could make weight. Prograis?

Alright, one card tonight and it’s a good one. To note: Beltran missed weight yesterday so he cannot win Commey’s belt. ESPN, 10:00 pm ET, Richard Commey vs Ray Beltran, Carlos Adames vs Patrick Day. Commey is returning from a hand injury suffered in his February win over Isa Chaniev, which won Commey the IBF lightweight title. Beltran is a former titleholder and always a tough opponent. Richard Commey takes on Ray Beltran in a main event originally meant to be for Commey’s IBF lightweight title, but is now not for the belt, as Beltran failed to make weight and cannot win the title. Commey also cannot lose the title no matter the outcome, per IBF rules. The fight still figures to be a good one for action on paper, as Commey is a powerful fighter and Beltran has never shied away from a battle. In the ESPN co-feature, unbeaten 154-pound prospect Carlos Adames takes on Patrick Day as Top Rank continue to move Adames along slowly but surely, hoping to maximize his potential.
Commey was on track to fight Loma before the hand injury popped up. He’s good. Beltran is easy to root for and always game, though age may be finally catching up on him.
Canelo wins that fight. Ward rocked Kovalev with shots to the body and Canelo will do the same. Fun fight though, I'm in.
Hell has frozen over. Encouraging if you'd like to see Mikey-Loma at some point though. Carl is a Top Rank exec, fwiw.
Teofimo Lopez at the desk, says Commey is up next for him if Commey wins. We’ll see what Commey says about that.
Two cards tonight. First up: DAZN, 7:00 pm ET, Demetrius Andrade vs Maciej Sulecki, Joseph Parker vs Alex Leapai, Kal Yafai vs Norbelto Jimenez. Andrade defends his WBO middleweight title in the main event from his hometown of Providence, and Yafai is defending his WBA super flyweight title against mandatory challenger Jimenez. Parker-Leapai is also a fight on the card.
And then: SHO, 9:00 pm ET, Jermall Charlo vs Brandon Adams, Erickson Lubin vs Zakaria Attou, Eduardo Ramirez vs Claudio Marrero. Charlo-Adams is for the WBC’s middleweight title, while Lubin-Attou and Ramirez-Marreo are both title eliminators. It’s kind of an average Showtime event for 2019, make of that what you will. Jermall Charlo puts his undefeated record and questionable WBC middleweight title on the line against Brandon Adams in the main event. Charlo is sort of a man without many options at the moment, as PBC are pretty barren at 160, with the division’s top names — Canelo, GGG, Andrade, Jacobs, etc. — pretty much all with DAZN. So in steps Adams, a solid fighter but never close to a world level-contender in his career. To be fair, Adams was highly sought-after this spring, with Gennadiy Golovkin’s team also trying to get him for a tune-up bout, which instead went to Steve Rolls when Adams chose Charlo instead. The show is a tripleheader, with eliminators at 154 (Erickson Lubin vs Zakaria Attou) and 126 (Eduardo Ramirez vs Claudio Marrero), the latter an actual good matchup on paper.
That's a good stoppage. Parker couldn't finish him and 2+ more rounds of punches would've done Leapai some harm.
