The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu)

yep. incredibly tough to watch but also just plain incredible. i'm gonna need someone to pull a choppa out from under their dress pretty soon though or i might just bail.

 

Watched 4 of them today. A little slow but I think it will end up being really good. I'm going to keep watching.

 

My wife wanted me to watch this with her - I'm enjoying it.

I knockout three episodes tonight. It's been awhile since a tv series has made me this uncomfortable. But damn is this well done.

 

thru 3 episodes, also felt uncomfortable. But intriguing.

 

We're a few episodes back, but I'm confused on scale. Are there just like 20 of the handmaids in the entire country or is it just the city? Do only high up officials get one or is it like one in every household?

 

Only a couple episodes in but this is really good TV. Surprised there isn't more talk about it.

the audio mixing is fucking horrible so i'm watching with subtitles. but it's pretty damn good so far. enjoy the slow burn reveals and intrigue

 

ending was kinda meh

 

I'm glad there will be a 2nd season. Elizabeth Moss is a great actress. She also kicked ass in Mad Men.

 

The slave labor camp scenes are intense. Its crazy to think of how many times that scenario played out in the 20th century.

 

Knocked out the two episodes from season two last night.

The first twenty minutes of episode one was pretty uncomfortable to watch at times. I also wasn't expecting June/Offred to make an escape this early in this season.

The slave labor camps seem interesting to me. For a while, I thought that the toxic land was a made up story by the Gilead to keep people from escape.

Finally, the entire scene in the airport with Ofglen looked eerily similar to the situation back in January 2017 at JFK Airport.

 

Good again in season 2. Didn't realize they were releasing an ep a week. Works for me I've got enough on my plate.

 

I dont think i could marathon this show anyway. It’s so slow and depressing.

 

It’s way too depressing for me to binge watch.

 

Very few shows I've watched have drawn me in to legit want something bad happen to people as had this show with aunt Lidia and Mrs waterford.

 

I have a feeling that Mrs.Waterford will end up in one of colonies. We clearly know that a wife can be put in one by what happen earlier this season.

Serena is the true villain of this entire ordeal. It’s also clear that she lost control of the movement after nearly being killed outside of a College (Which reminded me of Milo, Ann Coulter and Candace Owens)

The seen at the handmaids lunching was awkward as fuck. But I’m glad to see Serena shocked that Ofglen’s tongue was cut off.

Nick really has the ability to blow the lid off of the Waterford home. But idk if that would benefit June in any positive way.

I’m highly curious how the war is going at the moment. Clearly they have funding to build a new center.

 

Yea it’s meant to remind you of those people, and it’s ridiculous.

 

I don’t think it’s ridiculous. We certainly see ppl from different political sides try to shout down their opponents in person or on social media.

 

Yea they're being encouraged to do so in universities and now they're shouting down people they just disagree with. Not some fake ass fascist patriarchy.

Aside from the regular greatness of this show, the one thing I've been most looking forward to is more explanation of the world Gilead exists within. The politics, war, etc. of it all. So the way this episode ended reallllllly piqued my interest. Not to mention, bad things finally happening to bad people.

 

I think the details of this are intentionay vague. I have the same questions, but I think it’s easier to play with hints around the edges than address any of it directly. Any full explanation of what happened/is happening would likely be full of holes and picked apart as naseum. Much easier to give a general sense of the world without getting in to specifics.

Last nights episode was pretty legit. I still don't trust Serena and at no point do I see myself trusting Eden in this show.

This show is incredibly emotionally draining and yet we come back because it's so striking and fascinating and the occasional phenomenal acting performance, but this story will break you down. So what do the writers do? The absolute worst option because they know they had to keep the show alive.

 

She’s basically an enemy of the state now. She can certainly cause issues. But idk what exactly.

 

Fuck this show. I’ll have to hate watch next season because my wife likes it.

 

Finale of season2 was absolute trash and ruined the whole thing for me
