I like how the story of how shitty the life is of guys trying to get to/ make it on tour can be is being told not and more by Fried Egg, NLU and the like. I think if this continues you could see more and more interest in these lower level tours which would hopefully mean more $ for more players.
It’s pretty rough especially for those who never make it. Much better than it used to be, I think the mini tours are much more stable than in the past. Had a buddy tell me stories from the early 2000’s about minitours defaulting and just running off owing players tens of thousands of dollars.
I came very close to stepping on a snake at the course tonight. Third hole is a par 3 with a creek running along the left. I pulled my shot and it hit the side hill of the green and kicked towards the creek which was up pretty high after a lot of rain this weekend. My friend starting hitting at some thick grass while we were looking and the fucker just popped out of the weeds towards the creek about 3 feet in front of me. I let the creek keep that Titleist
I'm certainly not an expert, but only 3 top 20 players is the worst I can recall this season at least. Maybe I'm wrong.
If you really want to get into it, there's likely some opposite field events that were worse, notably the Puerto Rico Open that was opposite the Mexico WGC this year. The field this week does drop off in a hurry after the top 20-30 players though. It's just a tough spot on the schedule, a lot of guys will likely be skipping the 3M next week to head over to the UK and play the Scottish the week before the Open. The Irish Open is the week before the Scottish too so there's a nice run of links courses to go get ready
Ball goes into an armadillo hole in a fairway bunker. Gotta take an unplayable, right? No local rule of note otherwise.
Sitting around watching golf, apparently But really, getting carts (for staff, security, grounds crew, etc) in and out of the cart shed. And at the end of the night, doing some cleaning of carts and getting them charged. Seems like it's going to be a very easy week of work
$100 and change. Maybe $125? Got two shirts, a jacket, hat, and admission to the tournament/hospitality tent. Not a bad deal imo
Ordered a like new Rogue Sub-Zero on Callaway Pre-owned that arrived today and the shaft snapped during shipping
What's the best way to follow an individual player today for the senior us open shot by shot? Is there anything like the shotlink stuff I can look at?
Check and see if they have an app for it. There was one for both men's and women's opens and I'm pretty sure you could select your favorite players like you can in the PGA Tour app
Look for me on 14. Hanging out in front of the white tent after the last tee box. Should get a view from the golfers 2nd shot. Black sunglasses
I'll be heading to the Rocket Mortgage classic on Sunday, 1st ever PGA tour event, looking forward to it. No one can convince me this is a terrible field, I feel like I'm heading to the masters in a few days
I don’t necessarily hate Notre Dame, but seeing my favorite golfer don the done is a little deflating.
Holy shit....the immediate post round interview tomorrow that Peter Kostis always does might be a hell of a tear jerker. If Nate Lashley wins this it will be his first PGA Tour win. Nate grew up in western Nebraska and went to college at Arizona. His parents and girlfriend flew to one of his tourneys in college. His dad had a plane and was piloting. They encountered bad weather over Wyoming and crashed and all 3 died. Peter Kostis son was on the same team as Nate at Arizona so he knew him then and everything he's been thru.
