Pretty good road tip with 2/3 Nats, split va Cubs (although we should’ve won game 4), and 2 already against the Mets.
It seems luke is mixing the fastball better and not over throwing that slider to the point it’s biting too much. I like this luke.
I loved how he pitched backwards on Smith there. Two perfect sliders he could do nothing with, then blew him away with 97 mph heat at the top of the zone.
Those nerds really think these boys are gonna close out the year at 42-36? This team (with another starter and bullpen help) could be a 100-win team.
Luke is obviously pitching better but the setup combo of Newk, Swarzak, and even Webb (who’s improving in high leverage situation) has made the bullpen so much better than it was 6 weeks ago.
This might be the feel good win of the year. I think we’re all having fun. Even jrmy seems to be having a good time. I’m sure Toby is drunk off his ass at chili’s rn
Blevins is improving too (suck it whoever suggested we DFA him recently). He’s given up 3 earned in his last 17 appearances after that shellacking on May 7 in LA.
Luke Jackson's past 16 appearances: 2.12 ERA, 17 innings, 14 hits, 4 ER, 5 walks, 26 strikeouts. #Braves are 15-1 in those games. This is contrary to what I’ve seen in this thread. Weird.
Last series loss was at Pitt when I went on my tirade that Thursday about our offense. That was on June 6th. Incredible run.
Its gonna be a really tough day for Stone Cold Steve Austin when Folty, as he predicted, takes over Luke’s spot as closer. Folty’s two best pitches (fastball and slider) profile perfectly for a late inning guy.
Eh, I'd like another starter and one high leverage reliever. I think I'm good with the team otherwise.
We’ve got World Series caliber bats, we just need to add another high caliber starter and reliever. I believe we can have the pitching staff to give us a chance to get there with a move or 2
To say something nice about Luke’s progress (albeit painful to watch), he was a DFA candidate at the beginning of the year who only stuck with the club because he’s out of options.
This. The most overlooked aspect of this team is the bench. It has been clutch and spectacular. If you look at the other top teams in baseball they all have the same depth.
I think the call ups will help but a solid utility guy would be great. And yes a starter and a reliever or two have to happen
We have multiple great utility guys, so I don't see the need there at all. The only thing I'd add is pitching.
I don’t see any real changes I’d make to our position and bench players at all that are reasonable. We need another starter and we need a reliever. We honestly can’t keep Julio in the rotation of every start puts our bullpen in a bad spot.
