https://jambands.com/news/2019/06/2...ufmann-pens-emotional-tribute-to-jeff-austin/ Interesting remembrance of Jeff Austin by Ben Kauffman. After listening to a ton of YMSB in high school and college, and not much since then, I've listened to quite a bit over the last week or so. Man they were a lot of fun in the late 2000's.
Yes, it was easily the worst phish show I’ve ever seen. Terrible set list. The 29th on the other hand had great songs but I couldn’t go. We also got rained on for about 1.5 hours before the show started.
Yeah a lot of the setlists of this tour have given me pause. Part of it is me not knowing any of the new songs, but also the song placement seems odd at times.
The hit/miss ratio is pretty high for me. Been to around 40 and can say that easily 35 have been great-phenomenally great
Most of that setlist kicks ass, imo. The rain definitely sucks though. 6/15/11 was probably the worst time I’ve had seeing Phish because of rain and hail
I haven't listened to SPAC from last night, but the only shows I have heard this tour that I would put in the "good" category would be Charlotte and Camden night 3. Everything else has sounded below average 3.0 to me.
Take that back. The worst was Jazzfest in 2014. It was miserably hot in the middle of the day. People passing out left and right and because of the heat and being shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other people.
Agree for the most part. Plenty of solid blocks of playing but not many 'complete shows' due to all the new material being worked in. Tons of shows with strong first sets that cool off in the third or fourth quarter. Still having fun and have fairly high expectations for Mohegan - Dick's.
Interesting interview with Joe Russo and some shoulder pain he's had for the past 2 years. http://www.chicagonow.com/lists-that-actually-matter/2019/07/joe-russo-on-the-divided-mind/
Ghost > Tweezer probably would be better to open set two since it's always still light out when shows start at Alpine
I kind of fell out of love with Phish and jambands after the hiatus and leading to the breakup. Got more into bluegrass/folk and a lot of funk and jazz. Didn't really get back into Phish when they returned, but I started getting back into jambands last year and Charlotte this year was my first Phish show since Vegas 2004. Also went to Sat/Sun in Camden (incredible first set on Sun). Chased Tela forever and finally got it. Have y'all seen Goose? Highly recommend them. Saw them at DomeFest this year. Not really a big Pigeons fan but went with some friends. Been watching Goose videos tonight and they just keep killing it. Magic Beans was fun too and will definitely see them again.
Haven’t seen goose, but listened to some sets. They just got added to Nugs. They pretty good. Saw magic beans a few months ago. Was a solid show, nothing mind blowing but definitely fun.
One of my best friends had been to almost 100 shows and had never caught a Sloth. Another has been to more than 80 and never seen Pebbles + Marbles. Another one of my best phish friends is really close with the band's masseuse. We had met her a previously at the Gorge and ended up running into her at a bar outside of Fenway last weekend. Turns out we were flying into Milwaukee at the same time and staying at the same campground, so she reached out to my girlfriend about hitching a ride with us from the airport. Her and my gf became fast friends and we ended up hanging out all weekend. On Saturday, as she was leaving to go give Trey his pre-show massage we semi-jokingly screamed "Hey tell Trey to play The Sloth!" and she looks at us and goes "okay, I'll hook it up." We assumed she was joking...until they played The Sloth. On Sunday we were kicking it by the lake and she's like "ok so what do ya'll want to hear?" and naturally we said Pebbles and Marbles. Got it mid first set, right where Sloth had been the night before.
Between Me and My Mind prop bets tonight (Patton Creek Theatre, Bham AL): Footage of Trey crying /// yes +150 no -180 ‘More’ will be played /// yes -110 no -110 Acoustic ‘more’ /// yes +300 no -350 Smell of marijuana’s smoke in theatre /// yes -200 no +180 Will there be a wook or old ‘head vending merch in the parking lot? // yes +180 no -200
7:00 screening is sold out, and 7:15 screening only has non-adjacent seats available. Guess I'll wait until it comes out on streaming. Also, I haven't been to a movie in years so it's probably on me, but when did you start having to select your seats during the ticket buying process?
7.23.99 is a pretty epic show that’s hitting its 20th today. The second set opening of Ghost -> Free > BOAF is a monster
Top tier Ghost baby. Love it. As far as Ghost intros go, I think ‘98 is my favorite style. Not as completely loose and ambient as ‘99 but not as abrupt and choppy as ‘97. In the middle, just right. Eases in but still thumps hard.
While Prague gets most of the 98 love (and rightfully so), the Copenhagen version a few nights prior is an absolute monster as well. Also partial to Desert Sky.
