In this analogy grains are vaccines? I feed them merrick raw infused and add some extra freeze dried bits I get from a small pet store. Like I said in my post I understand that the switch to “grain free” could have dick to do with her skin getting better but the switch help her so I am sticking with what’s helps my pup. She has enough issues for me to put her on something that might fuck with her.
well you live in Texas which is the woat state for allergies tbqh so its either certain grass types/pollens or the protein in the food and they would either need to be on a novel protein diet or hypoallergenic diet you can also try Adult Benedryl. a mg per pound, so a 25 lb dog would get 1 tab every 12 hrs if needed
We went the other way just bc our grocery store sells buffalo and not science. The puppy stuff we buy isn’t grain free though, I don’t think. Maybe we’ll start ordering food on chewy and go back.
Benadryl has been helping, but I dont like having to pill her up twice a day I'm gunna get a small bag of pro plan food and see if it makes a difference
My two previous labs lived their whole lives on pro plan, I switched this one off after puppy food because the only local pet store that carried it shut down So I guess I'll have to remember to grab some in Austin
Damn, the last two bags of food we got for Tosu is Taste if the Wild High Prairie puppy food. I’m guessing we need to find something else?
Do I need to stop feeding my dog Blue Buffalo like immediately or is this something I shouldn’t worry about if the occurrences are so rare?
I haven’t looked that much into it because my food isnt on the list. Obviously im not an expert but seems like the condition happens because of a lack of taureen in the diet. I would assume if you find something to give them that’s a taureen supplement would negate the risks dump
My vet just told me Blue Buffalo is a really good brand and that the heart disease is usually more genetic. He also said if they were to do a recall or actually tell people not to use it then that’d be a different case. He said to proceed as I’ve been doing. Guess I’ll just keep doing that unless more info comes out or whatever.
I'm pretty sure Taste of the Wild has HGH in it or some shit, because Tyson has went from 87 Pirates Barry Bonds to 01 Giants Barry Bonds in the last month or so.
Blue's collar freak out is getting worse. We've started rewarding him with treats and stuff when we are just rubbing on his neck, etc but if he doesn't show improvement we are going to have to seek help. We can't have an 80 lb dog that freaks out and bites when you touch his collar. I'm not sure why he does it, he's never been abused/hurt by his collar and it's not always a negative thing to touch it. We put his leash on to take him on walks, etc. It hasn't progressed to the point of serious injury yet but my hands have got some scratches for sure.
Both really. It's not an aggressive bite to the point of breaking skin but its definitely more than playful nipping. We started giving his best treats this weekend as we just sit there and rub his neck and collar so hopefully that puts us on the right path. It didnt seem like a big deal before so we didnt catch it as early as we should have but im hoping we caught it soon enough to fix ourselves.
It probably sounds like I'm always bitching about him but I made the mistake before of thinking I knew more than I do and could correct any problem that a dog had. Not gonna make that mistake again. No shame in asking for tips or advice.
I’d try putting PB in a Kong or marrow bone. Something he has to work at. Let him go at it for a bit and then start petting his neck. Then if that goes well. Start taking the collar on and off. The hope is he’s preoccupied w the Kong and eventually associates the neck pets ect w the PB and good stuff. That’s a tough one.
you don’t have to get a gym membership cuz you’ll get gainz everyday lifting them up and doing PT on them
Sent her an email this weekend after his not so good vet visit but I'm gonna call if she doesn't respond to the email tomorrow
One of mine is trained to run to the linoleum when he's about to puke. The other gets scared and runs to her crate which is lovely
paige does the crate and i have to reach in and grab her and then carry her to the nearest floor and it is always a fun race against time
How did you train yours to go to a hard surface? I have to spring in to action and put mine on a hard floor, but his instinct is still to always go for a carpet.
I dunno really. He's a great dog and when he was a puppy I used to drag him. Now he just goes where I shoo him
My damn dog will not stop eating our cats food. We don't want to put it up because she broke her leg and had it amputated, so she's running on 3.
We had a hard time finding a good liner for the crates because they chew everything to pieces. Finally settled on bath mats because they’re heavy enough to stay put when the dogs toss and turn (no opportunistic corners to gnaw on) but soft enough to provide some extra comfort. If one gets sick in the middle of the night, or it’s just time to clean them, we can toss them in the wash/dryer no problem.
I only pointed it out because we just moved into our new place and I’m slowly turning the Bermuda/weeds tide in my favor. I know some goddamn weeds when I see them.
I just went through about a 1K eye ulcer for Denny. It started on May 8th, he hurt his eye then it was all downhill. After 2 months of different eye drops and several Cornea Grid Keratotomy's, he's good to go. God bless for dog insurance.
