What's cute is your lack of knowledge between the difference of humidity and dew point. The dew point is the actual indicator of what makes heat "uncomfortable". Anything above 70° makes it feel shitty outside. The type of heat where you sweat just being outside doing nothing. Read a book sometime.
- Request Donavon as your caddy, especially if you want to chat CFB (he’s a massive Georgia fan) - Carve out a bunch of time and try to get drinks/lunch at the Ryder Cup Bar in the clubhouse - If it’s your first time playing it, don’t worry about score too much Are you staying on the island?
A friend of mine, in his infinite wisdom, planned a golf/lake weekend in the middle of summer. Played 36 on Saturday with a heat index near 105, then 18 again Sunday morning with a slightly lower index. I easily went through about 15 waters and somehow a couple of the guys only drank beer. Playing in 80 degrees in Anchorage on Wednesday will be an absolute delight
Thanks. Got it Ryder cup bar is planned. Staying on the island for 3 days of mini vacation. Wife and kids enjoying the pool. Have a buddy from joining me from Charleston.
Freshfields right off the island is an awesome little village with bars, restaurants, and a grocery store. Much cheaper food options than on the island but still incredibly nice. It’s where all the locals (meaning people that own homes on the island) go. Plus the caddies all hang out at King Street Grill. It’s literally located right before the island entrance.
new clubhouse at cougar is great. gives you another option for dinner. at night heron park, there is a small reptilian exhibit. good for kids that aren’t pusses. taco place at Freshfields is also p good.
When the fuck is the Masters lottery? I like being disappointed out of the blue and not being reminded by this thread for wks?
Have had a trip planned to Pinehurst in August for a while, but we finally got confirmation we're going to be able to play #4 while we're there. Can't wait, have hear nothing but great things about the Gil Hanse redesign
Did a pinehurst trip a couple months ago. I actually liked #4 better than #2 with the exception on how immaculate the greens were on 2
What is the rule regarding adjustable drivers and adjusting them mid round? Do I have to keep the same setting I started the round with? Or can I adjust it if I see I’m hitting the ball a certain way?
like sc_chant said if it’s a regulated tourney then you’ll have to keep it. If it’s a round with friends or a scramble change it up. Only risk is it is tough to adjust mid round like that — I wouldn’t advise it without being at the range.
Story time .. playing golf with dad on the 4 th of July .. tee off 845 , not playing that great . Make the turn , get in the fairway of 10 .. group of 3 hit into us . Wait on hole 11 , they roll up “ hey y’all just can’t jump in front of us imma member pay blah blah blah “ they had stopped in clubhouse for more libations thus giving up spot . A lot of cursing ensued back and forth . Packed it up got a refund. Clubhouse went out to discuss. Police came . End story . Happy 4th ... cliffs was 47 on front ..
My issue is when I’m fresh and swinging full speed I need to have it set to draw to keep it somewhat straight. Once I get tired after playing in this 90°+ Georgia heat I need to change it up to neutral
How long did they take between 9's? Did your group stop in the clubhouse at the turn? Were you waiting on them frequently on the front 9?
This is the Fossil Trace fight in Golden, CO. Heard a local radio guy reference a MLB brawl and compare one of the players involved to “blue shirt guy at Fossil Trace”. Made me laugh like a bastard
I generally play 3-5 days a week in the summer. I go from 9 to 10 and hit as soon as it's clear. Never had an issue.
The rule is that you can't adjust mid-round. (3) Deliberately Changing Club’s Performance Characteristics During Round. A player must not make a stroke with a club whose performance characteristics he or she deliberately changed during the round (including while play is stopped under Rule 5.7a): By using an adjustable feature or physically changing the club (except when allowed to repair damage under Rule 4.1a(2)), or By applying any substance to the clubhead (other than in cleaning it) to affect how it performs in making a stroke.
I guess maybe different regions and different courses practice different protocols but at my course and basically all courses I'm aware of around here....you don't just jump in front of the group ahead of you at the turn simply because they stopped into the clubhouse for ~5 mins. Now anything longer than that and it kind of becomes fair game I suppose. There's more than that, that goes into it though. Primarily...is the course in general very busy and kind of backed up or was the group you're passing also staying up with the group in front of them? I mean it would be a dick move to pass a group on the turn IF the group in front of them was still on hole 10 somewhere by the time you got to the tee box.
We went straight to 10 , no one on the tee or on the green . Hole was clear . Group that was disgruntled stopped in clubhouse for 20 minutes . After dust cleared , the GM said club policy is if you stop at clubhouse , you forfeit your spot in the sequence. Either way guy was drunk and acted like a Neck .
Sure but that's not what we're talking about. If you play 9 you don't make the turn so it's a moot point.
