I liked Hernan, was great for the clubhouse But, his stats are literally the equivalent of a replacement level player. He's being replaced by another replacement level player who is cheaper and has more potential. It's a business and needed at this point in my opinion. Pérez is a great person and a decent player - I hope he finds a team where he can figure it out and contribute to.
He really seems like a good guy but he just never got on base enough to add to his versatility. Hopefully he catches on with a team like Baltimore or if no one picks him up he can come back and play in San Antonio.
He needs to go down to the minors and practice catching, so he can come back and catch a game. He'd have played every position on the diamond then.
This is not a good team and I don't want to give up any decent prospects at the deadline. I not only don't see this team contending but I could easily see them finish in last place.
It's a stars and scrubs roster that can't win without huge games every night from the same three hitters or Hader pitching two scoreless innings. Hiura will help the lineup but it's not enough when he is the only legitimate right handed threat. We can't score against garbage lefties much less an elite closer like Vazquez.
Cain still isn't right and should be put on the injured list till after the all star game. Counsell moving him to the cleanup spot is pretty bad.
Keston is the Key Clubbered this HR https://cuts.diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/...6-CSVM-DIAMONDTMP-asset_1280x720_59_4000K.mp4
I've seen enough of Saladino. This team desperately needs another right handed bat to go along with Hiura and that isn't Aguilar or Saladino.
That loss is all on Counsell with him pulling Anderson way too early and letting Albers face Votto when he had Claudio warming up and Hader as an option. We are lucky this entire divison sucks because we aren't very good.
No Yelich or Grandal in the lineup tonight and Saladino is starting for the fourth time since getting called up. I too have lost faith in Arcia but Counsell shouldn't be benching him for someone even worse.
Perez was outrighted to AAA but he can refuse the assignment if he chooses to. I am certain he would at the very least be back in September so he would be awfully foolish to leave the organization.
Luckily I missed the game last night but is it any surprise that they got shut out when they decided to rest both Yelich and Grandal on the same night. Everyone talks about the pitching being bad which it is (thanks David Stearns for letting the best pitching coach in baseball leave) but few talk about how this offense is 3 deep and a bunch of garbage besides that. Hiura will be good but we have so many bad players in this lineup every night. This team has a decent chance of finishing in last place and I don't want to trade any decent prospects for short term gains.
I think its time to explore what we can get for Hader. If we can get the kind of package that I think we can we really should take it.
We have three good hitters and one potentially good rookie. Our formerly great superstar Braun is washed up and Cain is injured and posssibly washed up as well. If you think things are bad now wait till Moustakas and Grandal leave after the season. I'm not blaming the hitting coach for guys like Saladino and Arcia struggling. I know I have this reputation of being negative but I really think this is a last place team. With a terrible farm system the time has come to consider moving Hader and maybe even Yelich.
What has it been 20 innings or so since we've scored off this Derek Johnson pitching staff. Besides Yelich and Hader he was the biggest reason why we were one win away from reaching the world series last year and why we will finish in last place this season. I am so incredibly disappointed in David Stearns for letting Johnson go and for the job he has done all season.
How about they bring up this Deolis Guerra guy who in his first and only outing blows a 6-1 ninth inning lead and they replace him with someone called Burch Smith who gives up 5 runs in two innings the following night.
We are worse than mediocre and the only reason we are technically in contention is the division being a joke. I really hope that Stearns is smart enough to realize this isn't a good team and make moves for the future. No reason to trade what little prospect capital we have to make a run at a playoff spot when we aren't a real contender to reach the World Series.
With Woodruff being added to the all star team we now have 5 all stars but we also have a ton of terrible players on this team. I think we should definitely move Moustakas and Grandal if we can get something good and I know I will be ridiculed for saying this but we should see what we can get for Hader. A team like Houston is loaded with young talent and might be willing to give us multiple top prospects for Hader. We have Josh for 4.5 more years and definitely don't need to trade him but we have nothing to lose seeing whats out there for him. Our minor league system is really bad and we are losing Moustakas and Grandal with no real replacements in the system so we have to be creative and moving Hader for a huge return is something to consider but only if we can get a ton for him.
How are we only half a game out of first place when we have been so bad for the last month against mostly terrible teams.
Didn't see any of the game tonight but I guess Arcia got hurt colliding with Hiura. Anyway IanC should be excited because Dubon is getting called up.
