he seemed like a clown when running for gov, that's about the extent of my feelings towards him. his commercials were really annoying.
He also ran as a D when *all* of his political life prior was as a very conservative R. That part of it was weird to me. It would be like if a hardcore Bernie Sanders supporter ran in a Republican primary.
He went in to meet with political consultants and told them he wanted to run for Governor. They asked, “okay, as a Republican or a Democrat?” And he told them that it didn’t matter. https://theintercept.com/2018/04/06/shri-thanedar-michigan-millionaire-bernie-sanders-republican/
Wonderful weekend in North West Michigan Just gorgeous on so many levels Hope it keeps up for y’all heading North
For 10 months out of the year, I love it. From mid-June till mid-August, it’s pretty awful if the weather is nice. I have lived here awhile so know how to navigate it, but it’s bad.
Yeah they just completed a renovation in that building and it’s really nice. It was fine before, now it’s great.
Grand haven is a nightmare getting out of on the fourth Toasted pickle was good tho Is it possible that I might have saw an alligator swimming in Lake Michigan Tia
Love going there, but mostly because my cousin and her husband own it and I usually drink for free Haha. Did the bar side get renovated or just the coffee area? Havent been there since the coffee shop first opened
Toasted Pickle is a good spot.... I was at city beach in GH a weekend ago and I didn’t spot any gators but the amount of white trash was incredible. I don’t remember being that bad. If you are still around, there’s a beach called North Shore (about a mile north of GH) that’s great.
They opened up most of the first floor and the bar and coffee shop essentially share the huge new space.
Do you need to stay in Ann Arbor? Staying in town on a home football weekend will always be pricey. The Comfort Inn or Baymont in Chelsea would be less than $200 total for Friday and Saturday night. Edit: I lied. I checked and they are closer to $200 per night.
You really want to stay at the hotel I linked in downtown Ann Arbor if there’s room and you can afford it. As NilesIrish said, Ann Arbor is a good town. You want your time there to be there and not driving.
I would like to stay there but I can’t justify paying 250 plus per night to watch an ass beating. I appreciate the suggestion though.
If you can’t get a room in the AA area, there are places like Brighton/Novi/Wixom/Canton that are 25-30 minutes from Ann Arbor and have ample hotel options. Not exactly exciting destinations, but there are lots of hotel rooms and easy access to the freeway
You'll pay $50-80ish each way uber to Detroit but if it's a noon game it's smart. Despite the whorish tendencies, I really do like Ann arbor. But Detroit is way more fun.
There is a new Holiday Inn Express in Brighton off of 23 that is about 15 miles away from Ann Arbor. It's next to a Friday's or something. It would be the easiest place out of town, although Brighton kinda sucks.
