just so yall know, we are already baseball world champions, if we get womens soccer we are basically basketball away from just owning the usa
The ole no offense but.... :) I understand your point, for me it just makes no sense to do what they did against a team like Thailand. They have no money, no funding (it’s a third world country for fucks same) no talent and these women basically stepped on them and laughed at them. It was disgraceful. Different mentalities I guess. Regardless I am surely in the minority here, whatever not a huge deal. Congrats, us were the best team and it shows a great deal about opportunities for women in the us.
When it’s the highest level of a sport and goal differential is used as an official measure of success, running up the score can’t be seen as a bad thing.
I am not talking about the score, I am talking about the celebrations after every single goal....even the 9th
Just gonna leave this here and not post the article where Team Canada won 47-0 because it was so long ago. https://www.thestar.com/news/2009/12/26/team_canada_refuses_to_let_up_in_160_victory.html Don't hurt yourself getting up on your pedestal.
At 9-0 would you still slide on the fucking turf all proud of scoring on a team who’s budget is not even one of your players salary...show some fucking respect for these women who live in a shit country and work hard to be there. Seems pretty simple but I guess it’s an awful take
just to mix myself in the minefield. I am fine with winning 13-0 or whatever it was. Im not fine with the way they celebrated beyond the 5-0. Everybody knows its fake celebration at that point
Humiliating and degrading people that are not white is weaved into the fabric of America; the women were just carrying on our deep shame with gusto and bravado
The Thailand thing was weird, in retrospect I’m sure the coach and captain would’ve handled it differently. The world is rapidly improving at women’s soccer, the American college system will not be an advantage soon. I imagine the US’s hold on the sport will soon diminish
i'm back guys Dontae Manning decommitted from OU so he's back on the board...he would be a top end CB recruit Spoiler *** Big news came out yesterday that Raytown (Mo.) cornerback Dontae Manning decommitted from Oklahoma, and our own Bryan Driskell reported that Notre Dame was "definitely interested" in Manning and has been trying to get him on campus for an official visit. Rivals.com analyst Josh Helmholt reported here that Manning is looking to take an official visit to Notre Dame for the USC game in October and is talking with Jordan Johnson about the Fighting Irish. *** I checked in with a couple of sources on Manning tonight. One told me that Manning's reason for decommitting from Oklahoma was basically to keep his recruitment more open. Manning committed to Oklahoma in the spring but never shut down his recruitment, so this allowed him to fully open things up again to all schools. Manning already had taken an official visit to Texas A&M, so it's been clear that his commitment to the Sooners was soft. *** Don't expect Manning to be a lock to Notre Dame or anything like that. Texas A&M may be the team to beat here and Oklahoma, I'm told, still would like to land him, which also shows that there's no bad blood between he and the Sooners. One thing in Notre Dame's favor here is that he's already taken his official visits to OU and Texas A&M. I can also confirm what Driskell said yesterday in terms of the Irish having strong interest in Manning. *** When mentioning DB targets left on the board, four-star Highland Springs (Va.) safety Malcolm Greene is a name we discuss. I've heard from those close to Greene that he's still interested in Notre Dame, and I'm told on the ND side that they still are interested as well. Recruits commit earlier than ever these days with spring and summer official visits, but Greene is really taking his time with the process and there hasn't been much movement here outside of him taking unofficial visits to Michigan and North Carolina in June. Look for Greene to visit for a game this fall. *** Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty defensive back Ramon Henderson is still an option for the staff as well. The latest I'm hearing is that Henderson is discussing a fall official visit with the coaching staff but has not locked in a date yet. Notre Dame offered Henderson on May 24 and there's starting to be some more movement in his recruitment with the Irish.
I would love for us to recruit over guys like the other big boys do but don’t think that will happen anytime soon
Not many countries have the stomach to actually build long term. There's not much money in it to do so. China tried decades ago because they just threw numbers at it and figured some talent would pan out.
Women sports is like a 7-10 country thing, other countries just don’t care enough to spend any money/time on it.
Gold Standard Spoiler Scoop On 2021 OL Targets — Singer *** Notre Dame has four-star class of 2021 offensive line commitments in Blake Fisher and Greg Crippen, but the Fighting Irish coaching staff has several other big-time, highly ranked OL prospects in their sights. Good Counsel (Md.) offensive tackle Landon Tengwall is probably the most popular of the group, and he's highly considering Notre Dame. The Irish got a summer visit from elite tackle Tommy Brockermeyer, and Donovan Jackson has interesting ties to the Midwest and hopes to visit Notre Dame this fall. There are a few more top offensive line targets for the Irish, and here are updates on them. *** Warwick (Pa.) offensive tackle Nolan Rucci is ranked as the No. 28 prospect in the 2021 class, and sources have expressed that the 6-foot-8, 271-pounder is a big priority for Notre Dame's class. Rucci is keeping in touch with offensive line coach Jeff Quinn, and the four-star Rivals100 recruit told me that he had a great conversation with Quinn in June .*** Rucci believes that Notre Dame is a "great spot" and has high praises of the Irish offensive line coach. Quinn compares Rucci to specific linemen who have gone through the Notre Dame program, especially players who have been through the program in the past few years that Quinn has been in South Bend. Rucci's last visit to Notre Dame was in January, and he also took a visit to Notre Dame in spring of 2018 with his brother, Hayden Rucci, who signed with Wisconsin in the 2019 class. Rucci hopes to get back to Notre Dame this fall to see a game and watch Quinn in action. 28 NATIONAL 2 STATE 5 POSITION NOLAN RUCCI RANK 6.0 6'8" | 271 LBS | OT WARWICK LITITZ, PA CLASS OF 2021 UNDECIDED *** Clarkston (Mich.) offensive tackle Garrett Dellinger is another big Notre Dame target, and he's a guy who the staff has been recruiting for a long time. The Irish offered him the day after the Michigan game last year, and he's been on campus a total of three times. Dellinger keeps in good contact with Quinn and is getting to know him better. Dellinger feels comfortable with Notre Dame's football program and academics, so the focus now is building a strong bond with Quinn. The Fighting Irish are in good early position for Dellinger. *** Dellinger is high school teammates with Rocco Spindler, who is also being targeted by Notre Dame and is a priority for the Irish. Spindler noted that he's keeping in touch with coaches from Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan State the most of schools recruiting him. He'll visit Michigan on July 27 for an event right after the dead period, and he's also planning to visit Northwestern, Wisconsin, and hopes to see Notre Dame twice in the next three months. Look for Spindler to potentially visit Notre Dame in August. He also has the USC-Notre Dame locked in on his calendar. Spindler referred to Notre Dame as a "top notch" program and said that the Irish are "rolling on all cylinders." I do feel that this is mainly a Michigan-Notre Dame battle. 76 NATIONAL 2 STATE 2 POSITION ROCCO SPINDLER RANK 5.9 6'5" | 290 LBS | OG CLARKSTON CLARKSTON, MI CLASS OF 2021 UNDECIDED *** While I have Spindler in this 2021 offensive line breakdown, he very well could end up playing defensive tackle in college. Michigan and Notre Dame are both "50/50" on whether they want Spindler on offense or defense, according to the Rivals100 recruit. Spindler doesn't have a strong preference on where he plays at the next level and trusts what his college coaching staff thinks is best for him. Spindler could either play guard or tackle in college; he noted that he's talked to Quinn about tackle. *** The last offensive lineman I'll go into detail about is Fort Collins (Colo.) Fossil Ridge offensive tackle Trey Zuhn. Quinn offered Zuhn while recruiting in Colorado during the spring evaluation period, and Zuhn camped at Notre Dame in June for the Linemen's Challenge. Our Bryan Driskell wrote that Zuhn had an impressive camp. Zuhn really enjoyed his time in South Bend -- learning from Quinn, seeing the facilities, and competing in the camp. Notre Dame is one of many schools in the mix for Zuhn -- it's too early to tell where he's leaning at the moment. - NATIONAL 2 STATE 20 POSITION TREY ZUHN RANK 5.8 6'7" | 276 LBS | OT FOSSIL RIDGE FORT COLLINS, CO CLASS OF 2021 UNDECIDED Mayer's Mother Dishes On Notre Dame — Holland It’s been more than a year since Michael Mayer committed to Notre Dame. One of the first members of the 2020 class, Mayer grew up in a family full of LSU fans as his grandfather, Dick Mailey, is a former All-American basketball player for the Tigers. Meanwhile his older brother, AJ, is a quarterback at Miami (Ohio). While he has no ties to Notre Dame, the four-star Covington Catholic (Ky.) tight end and his family simply fell in love with the program — so much so that he pulled the trigger almost right away. And his mother, Amy, couldn’t be happier. “We didn’t know a lot about Notre Dame until the recruiting process,” Amy said. “But once we saw the stadium, the campus and just everything up there, it was awesome. We are Catholics, so that’s a plus. It just felt like a great fit for Michael with kids from similar backgrounds. “We only visited two other places. Once he saw Notre Dame, he didn’t want to see other schools.” The Mayer family actually took in the Notre Dame vs. Miami (Ohio) game back in September of 2017. It wasn’t until a couple of months later that the Irish presented Michael with a scholarship offer. 71 NATIONAL 2 STATE 3 POSITION MICHAEL MAYER RANK 5.9 6'5" | 215 LBS | TE COVINGTON CATHOLIC ALEXANDRIA, KY CLASS OF 2020 VERBAL COMMIT 7/1/2018 NOTRE DAME Mayer would return to South Bend for two unofficial visits in 2018 before committing to Notre Dame in July of that year. On every visit, Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chip Long and the rest of the staff made the Mayer family feel at home. In fact, Amy said religion and the bond she formed with the Notre Dame coaches played huge roles in the family’s final decision . “It was awesome for me to see the cathedral and things like that when we visited,” Amy said. “I love the whole religious aspect. Of course, Chip Long gave us a lot of attention. Michael has a close relationship with Chip, players on the team and a lot of the commits. We trust the whole coaching staff. He’s in good hands. They’ve been great from the beginning.” Amy added that Notre Dame’s prestigious academics also helped make the decision easier. “The academics are huge,” she said. “Michael is a smart kid, but he doesn’t love school. It’s not his favorite thing. Football is. But once he’s challenged and the bar is set high, he likes the challenge. It’s going to be great for him to have that peer pressure and be surrounded by smart kids trying to do well. That’s definitely a plus.” The Mayer family will be back in South Bend for an official visit in October when Notre Dame takes on USC. At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, Mayer is ranked as the No. 3 tight end and No. 71 overall recruit in the country, per Rivals.com. Tyree Family Sounds Off On Notre Dame — Holland Chris Tyree may be the fastest recruit in the country. So it’s no surprise he has quite the stellar offer list. Tyree, however, committed to Notre Dame over fellow finalists Alabama and Oklahoma earlier this offseason and is now completely locked in with the Irish. For Tyree, picking Notre Dame was a family decision. His father, Richard, made it clear that he, his wife, Michelle, and Chris all fell in love with the unique blend of academics and athletics at Notre Dame. “Historically, it’s a phenomenal institution both academically and athletically,” Richard said. “I think that’s the biggest draw. But Chris really felt at home with the players on the team, the commits in the class and the coaching staff. It all really fell into place.” Michelle added: “It’s big-time with athletics and academics. You also have that small, hometown school feel on a regular day. On game day, it doesn’t get much bigger. It felt like home. The coaches and the players are like-minded. You can’t ask for too much more.” 64 NATIONAL 2 STATE 1 POSITION CHRIS TYREE RANK 5.9 5'10" | 185 LBS | APB THOMAS DALE CHESTER, VA CLASS OF 2020 VERBAL COMMIT 5/23/2019 NOTRE DAME The Tyree family made their way to South Bend for an official visit last month, where they were reassured that Notre Dame is in fact the right place, The official visit also gave them a chance to get a look at some things they hadn’t seen at Notre Dame as well as an opportunity to meet with families of other 2020 Irish commits. “Spending time with the other families and getting to know them was a big thing,” Michelle said. “The commits have their own chat, so it was nice for the parents to have a chance to do something like that as well. It was a family affair. We enjoyed that.” Richard added: “The one thing we did on the official that we hadn’t done before was talk to the admissions staff. Notre Dame isn’t an easy school to get into. They just reassured us that Chris is doing the right thing and that he is on the right path. We toured some different places. We got to see the new indoor facility. We got a taste of it. Those were the biggest things.” Michelle also mentioned the fact that this was their first face-to-face meeting with Notre Dame running backs coach Lance Taylor. Winning over mom in recruiting is a must, and Taylor passed with flying colors. “We had talked to him on the phone many times, but it was good to get that in-person meeting,” Michelle said. “We talked to him about how he would use Chris. Of course, he’s coached players like Chris, so that was a big draw for us. We hit it off with him. He and Chris clicked. We also met his family, so that was big for us.” Richard noted that the entire coaching staff at Notre Dame does a tremendous job with their student-athletes, hence why they feel comfortable sending Chris to South Bend. “They all relate well with the players and recruits,” Richard said. “They are easy to get along with, but they do a good job of letting you know what’s expected. Outside of football, they care for their players not only as players but also as young men.” At 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, Tyree is ranked as the No. 1 all-purpose back and No. 64 overall recruit in the country, per Rivals.com. Notre Dame Commits React To Offord, Watts — Singer On back to back days last week, Notre Dame landed new commitments, coming from cornerback Caleb Offord and wide receiver Xavier Watts. We reached out to the Fighting Irish commits to get their reactions to the new additions to the 2020 class. *** Defensive tackle Aidan Keanaaina: "I’m so happy for them to join the family. They are pieces we need for our future team and can’t wait to put in work with them." *** Wide receiver Jay Brunelle: "Ecstatic about both additions. It really looks like the class is coming together especially on the skill position side. I’ve been in contact with Watts, and I’m really glad he is coming. *** Running back Chris Tyree: "Those are my guys, man! They’re really good players and I’m glad they joined the Irish. *** Drop end Jordan Botelho: "They both are great players and it’s exciting to see our class come together!" *** Tight end Michael Mayer: "Both these players will make a big impact on our football team in South Bend. I think it’s awesome we keep get such good kids, and awesome football players."

Funny Golden story. Don't know if anyone remembers this from like 2007 or so... T-shirt making was super popular when I was at ND - Backup College for BC, Trojans Break for SC, etc. One night I was hammered with my buddies and came up with the slogan "Golden is Thy Tate" from the alma mater, and the idea for a play diagram on the back that showed Golden running a fly route - back at the time the campus joke was all he did was run fly routes. We sobered up and still thought it was an ok idea, and we pooled some money together, started a facebook group and printed about 100. Nearly immediately they sold out, and we kept printing more and more. Think we printed close to 600-700 and in the facebook group, people were ordering them from all over the country. One day my buddy gets a message from Golden that he hears he's the dude who is selling all the shirts and we all start getting nervous thinking Golden was pissed or something. He comes over and just wanted to chill a bit and get a couple free shirts for his parents. He and my buddy stayed in touch and they actually became friends throughout college - going to parties and stuff. They still talk to this day. My buddy went through some things and quit drinking and Golden and him still talk often - don't know all the details, but supposedly they do like online bible study together and stuff like that. Bonus Golden story - at Coachella a couple years ago, I turned to my left in the middle of a concert to see a dude in an ND lacrosse pinny absolutely losing his shit; put 2 and 2 together that it was Golden.
Traveling home right now, but there's a good chance I still have my golden is thy Tate shirt, somewhere in my dresser Sat behind/with Golden's family at the Purdue game that year where, I believe, he had a TD or two (possibly the first of his career?). What a terrible, but amazing season.
Delete this post before ND compliance sees it and self-reports to the NCAA, resulting in us vacating all three wins from 2007.
Friend at work today asked me if I would rather have Ian Book or Justin Fields at qb this upcoming season. I laughed in his face and couldn't believe he was serious. Interested in y'alls opinions
In a vacuum if both were transfers, fields. Since we think book may be immune to the Kelly we curse and has a year starting in the system, book.
Shamrock Secrets Spoiler *** Notre Dame has three defensive back commitments in its 2020 class. The Irish would ideally like to add two more recruits in the secondary. We've mentioned over and over that Notre Dame wants a true safety in this class. But the Irish aren't going to take a safety just to take a safety. Notre Dame wants the best defensive backs available, and I'm told they feel comfortable with the safety versatility offered by verbal pledges Caleb Offord and Clarence Lewis. *** With that said, Notre Dame hasn't thrown in the towel for four-star Salpointe Catholic (Ariz.) safety Lathan Ransom. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The Irish are making a concerted effort to get Ransom, who is set to make his decision on July 16, to pump the brakes a bit. Right now, the feeling I get is that Ohio State is still the clear cut leader here. But Notre Dame's push, at the very least, is being well received by Ransom. *** Again, while Notre Dame is pushing, I still feel like Ohio State is going to be the pick. I don't want you to get optimistic. I simply want you to know that if Notre Dame is going down, it's going down swinging. Notre Dame defensive backs coach Terry Joseph has been in constant contact with Ransom throughout the dead period. I have reason to believe that Texas has slowed down on Ransom a bit as there doesn't appear to be much optimism in Austin, so Notre Dame may have slid into No. 2 by default. Still, Ohio State is going to be tough to overcome. *** Raytown (Mo.) cornerback Dontae Manning recently backed out of his verbal commitment to Oklahoma, and I immediately put in a FutureCast pick for Texas A&M. I actually had heard some buzz at The Opening that Manning was getting ready to flip from OU to A&M. However, I'm now told Manning is slowing things down and wants to use his visits. Notre Dame has pushed significantly over the last few days, and Manning wants to make his way to South Bend in the fall. He has become a priority for the Irish. *** Sticking with the OU theme, four-star Little Elm (Texas) cornerback Ryan Watts is still committed to the Sooners. It may not be today or tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised if Watts eventually follows Manning and backs out of his verbal pledge to Oklahoma. Notre Dame has reengaged with Watts as I hinted they would last week. And just as I said in that same report, Watts is open to listening. Remember, Watts has already used his OV on Notre Dame, but I am told that he would be will to make it back to South Bend on a UV. *** Notre Dame is still in the mix with four-star defensive back Christian Gonzalez of The Colony (Texas) and Malcolm Greene of Highland Springs (Va.), but things have been pretty stagnant with both. Gonzalez enjoyed his recent OV to Notre Dame, but there are still question marks about his personality fit. Gonzalez still plans to make a decision this summer, but it doesn't seem like Notre Dame has momentum. Meanwhile, Greene hasn't expressed a ton of interest, but a fall OV to South Bend is possible. *** The biggest riser on the Notre Dame DB board may be Liberty (Calif.) product Ramon Henderson. While he has not completely locked in an official visit date, Henderson is aiming to make his way to South Bend for the game against Virginia on Sept. 28. I've considered putting in a FutureCast for Notre Dame as I believe the Irish are in the lead, but I want to see if they do follow through and bring him to campus. Right now, I'm told the staff loves Henderson's upside and potential. the bold is such a strange take - there is no way that UT slowed down on Ransom...they put a ton of effort into recruiting him and suddenly just want to drop out of the race? it's more like he dropped them Loy basically said as much and narrowed it down to ND vs OSU...that being said, it's probably OSU
I was right there with you but then I went and looked at fields’ highlights. I think I would rather have fields. He is at a different level. Not a huge sample but his potential jumps at you
The guy was 27 of 39 coming off the bench, 330 yards no picks. Wimbush could not even complete 27 of 39 against air
I can see that, plus I bet he was always preparing for just a package of play so it doesn’t mean he can be accurate making all the throws and reads. I am comfortable with book, fields has more potential but he could also be just average. We will see
Some of them, he played early in a lot of games. But I don’t follow Georgia that closely, if you watch the highlights he plays when the game is still competitive against auburn, Tennessee.etc
