Really, really good season of television. I could add eleven more “goods” but that might seem ridiculous. I’m really happy Stranger Things delivered Along the levels of Dark because Dark had me worried TV may never be the same

Just finished this new season.. Amazing. My thoughts if anyone gives a shit Spoiler Robin and Steve on drugs was the best. Did not expect Robin coming out to Steve. My boy Steve needs some love Alexei was a good addition too. RIP Smirnoff They used Max way better this season. Billy killed it this season acting wise More Murray/Bald Eagle Will destroying the castle hit me hard Hooper monologue at the end fucked me up The guy in the cell is for sure Brenner or Hopper
The characters, dialogue, etc really save it for me (when it loses my attention otherwise). Great show though. Enjoyed it. Also FYI, there is a post credit scene (maybe 10 seconds after the last scene).
thru 6 episodes. Was hoping at some point for Hopper to get better and stop shitting on set this season. Dude is cringey even in the scenes where the writing is good for him (some of the early season seemed like bad writing for his character). Love the rest of the season so far. Really picked up and got into playoff form after Ep1-2 were kinda slow. Not sure if there’s any way for Hopper to redeem his awful acting in 2 episodes
So just to pick our one of the many shit scenes he did... the gas station car jacking scene - you thought that was good acting on his part? It was really tough to watch
Harbour plays Hopper to perfection. He’s an “awe shucks” tough guy with a heart of gold that fits in perfectly with the universe. Sometimes he’s a walking dad joke and I can see how that would be cringe but I find it charming and I wouldn’t want anyone else playing that role
Binged the entirety of S3 yesterday. I haven't nerded out like that in YEARS. That ending though... all the feels. I need more!
Also, more Netflix tv shows should take a cue from the 8 episode season, which was perfect. If I’m Netflix I request that no dramas go over 10 one hour episodes.
I had no complaints about him acting the part in seasons 1-2. He played the role you described pretty damn well in both. He was notably worse for me personally in S3, which I said was probably partially writing to blame. The stuff with him and Mike early on was bad... like just growling trying to “act crazy”. And a few scenes with Smirnoff like the car jacking. Some of it was good... him jacking up the Dread Pirate Roberts and inside the Russian bunker was vintage Hopper acting. Some good, more bad. Honestly the same goes for Joyce. She played the eccentric but cute mom-detective better in prior seasons. And her+Hopper dynamic was great in season 1, but didn’t do it this time around. Dr. Smirnoff and Murray carried the scenes in that group story. One of the funnier/better parts of the season actually.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I just never ever for even one moment was bothered by Hop or Harbours portrayal of him and I am a notorious cunt. I found it refreshing that Ryder got to have sort of a “normal” season acting as Joyce as well and absolutely loved her this season. Murray and Alexei are great tho I’ll give you that
Still loved the season. The kids acting has carried the show and still does. Dacre Montgomery played his role pretty damn perfect Spoiler And would still probably be alive if Joyce didn’t gawk at Hop so long Lucas’s sister and Ethan Hawke/Uma Thurman’s daughter we’re good additions. Good to see younger Busey still alive and playing the douche role to a T. Ted Wheeler is a gift as a dad’s dad of dads
Full send Hop is one of my all time favorite TV characters. That’s an easy thing for me to say. I think the bumbling goof scenes from this season are typical fare from 80s romps.
It wasn’t near the level of Michael from Lost or Ziggy from The Wire where the acting makes me want to fast forward the scene. Just stood out as worse than the previous two seasons. “I’m not upset I’m disappointed” in a few scenes... none of which made the show less enjoyable. And in consolation him and Joyce were great in the final 2 episodes I watched today. Much more on par with their work in seasons 1-2
I liked because the soundtrack of Dark is amazing as well. Was tryna rack my brain as to where heros was used in Datk but it would not have surprised me
