Also, question abt sonars. How did a Baltimore detect me at like 8km with a sonar? I was behind an island which I know doesn’t make a difference, but what should is the 8km. I didn’t shoot, so it wasn’t that (well I’d shot torpedos like 10 seconds prior, but I thought in that case he could just see the torps). I could not get away from it. He was the only guy left so it wasn’t another ship’s sonar. I’m perplexed.

 

Something in this thread says it gives you a 10km detection range, which is broken, though I barely understand what they are talking about in this thread.

 

Tonight was frustrating. In about 4 games I was top on my team in points with at least 2 ships sank and probably tops on my team in damage -- lost all 4. One of them I hit 100k damage and sank like 3 ships while capturing 2 points.

Anyway, in one of the games (maybe all of the games, but only noticed it in 1) people had letters next to their names. Not every person, but like 3 of the 9 ships on the team. What does that mean? This is Xbox, so there's no ranked matches, and if it were divisions I figure everyone would have had a letter. It was also a capture the base map, so Idk what it means, and a quick google search didn't help much.

This game is fun, but I've never been more frustrated with teammates than I am in World of Warships. Last night, in a capture the base, our weak side gets over run pretty quickly. One of the ships tells everyone to "get back" and basically defend the base. This is a good call, and I comply - I'd already killed 2 of the 3 ships on the enemy's weak side. However; 3 of my teammates decide to "request support" and chase the final kill of the weak side FOR THE NEXT 10 MINUTES without even so much as attempting to secure the base. At one point, we are up 5 ships to 2, and lose the game because of the idiot 3 ships chasing a single kill all the way across the map. It was infuriating -- so infuriating that I joined game chat just to tell them how smart I thought they were.

Shit like this happens literally all the time, people do not use any sort of critical thinking, and do not make an attempt to do what is best to win. In a game after that one, the game puts me furthest away from the base -- I see the 2 ships (1 Scharnhorst/1 cruiser) I'm grouped with turning towards the base, so I start to do the same (I'm the Warspite). We are all sited early, so clearly at least 1 destroyer is in the area (I look at scoreboard and see that they are grouped up, so figure they are both together). Every ship I'm with is fast than me, and leaving me behind despite going as fast as I possibly can. I see smoke, then I see second smoke like 6km away -- both destroyers are chasing me. I request support and the responses are "RETREAT NOW!" and I'm sitting here doing exactly that as fast as I possibly can. Instead of getting help from the cruisers like 7km in front of me, they all go the opposite direction and I'm promptly murdered by like the 7th full set of torpedoes that have been shot at me.

Those 2 games were special.

Not to mention this happened yesterday as well -- I outscored everyone on the winning team, captured 3 points, sank 5 ships, did 130k damage, and we lost. Love this game, but my God is it infuriating sometimes.
