They just traded for 2 defensemen. Ideally they'd just put Seabrook permanently in the press box until they can buy him out but thats not happening. I think it says more about what they think of Ian Mitchell who I suspect will sign and burn a year off of his ELC next spring.
Would have liked a more proven prospect in return but the pedigree is there. Think the Hawks like their other defensive prospects more and Joker complaining all the time sure didn’t help things
Is Risto for Reilly Smith a realistic trade idea? Vegas needs a RD and has an abundance of forward depth, and I think they're a similar level of player at similar cap hits.
considering they still need to sign boeser and they have about 8 million left under the cap, seems like they may get Ferland for a steal.
Think I read that Vancouver and Boeser are working towards a 4 year deal. Both sides will probably be happy with that as it doesn't get him to RFA and he'll get to cash in again quickly.
Ferland is a good signing. Now they need to get rid of Eriksson, Sutter, Tanev, Pearson, Baertschi, and Schaller. Too many bottom 6 forwards.
It is a good signing. But it's still putting lipstick on a pig. It's just another asset that will help the Canucks get to 5th in the worst division in the NHL instead of bottoming out and hoping to finally get some lotto luck. The canucks are determined to stay in mediocre territory while not collecting the premium young talent they desperately need.
I've already said multiple times what they needed to do for the betterment of the franchise. It's an ownership issue.
Friedman on 31 Thoughts -Columbus talked with Marner, but wanted 7 years. He wanted less. ”Multiple people told me that they thought if anyone was going to do it, it was going to be Columbus -Toronto wants 2-3 years, or 6, with Marner. 4 year is straight into UFA, 5 years means he and Matthews have UFA deals that ends the same time. Marner wants something a little different, but he still thinks Marner wants to stay -He thinks it's a possibility that Loui Eriksson ends up at Utica if he doesn't ”play ball” with a solution. Green was ”really upset” about what Eriksson said in an interview about him (playing less, more defensive role, not seeing eye to eye). ”I can't see how he's on their roster in the beginning of the season, it doesn't make any sense -”People went crazy when they heard about [the Labanc deal]”. Talks a little bit about this might be a possibility for Sharks to give him a huge contract in January
Marner is crazy if he thinks a team is going to give up 4 first rounders to pay him 11.5 million+ for 1 to no years of UFA
don't blame any team for not wanting to sacrifice 4 first round picks for anything less than 7 years.
Can he still play a little? We are stuck with the Bobby Ryan deal but he’s been a good pro that can still put up a few points on a crappy team. Ryan deserves to be moved but with our owner who won’t allow our GM to retain it won’t happen.
Yes, he's very good defensively and could potentially score 10+ goals. Eriksson's bonus is due today which leaves only $9M left on his contract for the last 3 years.
