Started becoming a golfer and fan (more than just a Tiger stan) a few years ago and that was helped greatly by NLU podcast. I still like them, but starting to grow tired of them. Don't know exactly how to describe it, but just liked them better when they were a smaller operation that no one gave a shit about, could get a big name to interview on occasion. Now it's turned to how they know everything, are great golfers, and have fans all over the place. They are so cool because they have professional golfers that they play with and are "friends of the pod". I know I'll still listen to their pods though.
I mentioned this in here a couple months ago, but for me it’s the constant, “Well we’ve heard some things from guys on tour.” Then they never elaborate. Either let us in some of the behind the scene things you guys see/hear, or don’t bring it up at all. Too many inside jokes and crap like that.
After 12 years of trying I finally won the lottery. I got 4 for Wednesay. It's nice to repay the favor to some friends.
Getting back into the grind of things for the last part of summer. Haven’t golfed in easily a month and a half and nothing felt good. Had a birdie putt on the first hole which turned into a 3-putt. We’ll let that be the indication on the round. I did finish with a Par.
He’s a pretty good friend of mine or well was when he was in town. We worked together at a country club through college. He can absolutely play.
We have completed the selection process for 2020 Practice Rounds and Daily Tournament tickets and regret your application was not selected for tickets.
Playing in a 2 day stroke play tournament this weekend at Pheasant Run Golf Club in Canton MI. Great weather today, feeling pretty good about my game. Low 160's should be the winning score for two days in my devision. Top 7 get paid, I'll keep you update after day one.
Tried some new swing thoughts today and while my score was a mess because I was trying new things to my swing it felt very encouraging. Taking the club back slower now to try and make sure I get into the right position helped a ton. I hit more greens today then I had in a while and some really good drives. My short game was an absolute disaster but I don’t play or practice enough to really get upset about it. However I did only have 29 putts today which as Ty Webb can attest I am a god awful putter. Spent more time lining up the putt and the line on the ball and then just trusting what I had set it to and just making a good stroke was a huge help
A visual representation of the 1st hole. Each color change is a different shot. Notice the rainbow around the green
Shot boggy golf yesterday for a 90. Had 7 pars, no birdies and couple doubles and a triple. 20-25 mile an hour winds, so a lot of the time into the wind we were having to club up 2 clubs. Had a terrible front 9, couple loss balls to post a 49. Got it together a bit on the back with a 41, made a couple of nice up-and-down putts to save par. 40 guys in my division sitting dead middle at 20th place. Need to shoot an 81 or lower to have any chance to finish in the top 7. The leader shot a 79 yesterday with 7th place sitting at 82. The Tee's we were playing: 6,445 yrds | 71/128 I think I need to just relax and have a more carefree attitude, we'll see how today goes.
Played in my clubs Member/Guest the past 4 days. My partner and I won our flight and just kept winning in the derby. We got runner-up. 2nd place out of 108 teams. I'm pretty salty that we got all that way and didn't win.
Went 50-40 yesterday. Started to not try the hero shot and just tried to avoid a big score. Still need to cut down on not taking advantage of good drives, however, I’m driving it the better than ever.
Finally had a solid round today after 3 straight rounds in the low 80s. Shot 74 at Sewanee with a dubski on a par 3. Been working on better posture and a little more deliberate/smooth takeaway. Swing felt good after being a little out of sorts for a few weeks. I'm playing in a member guest tourney this Fri-Sun. Should be a shit show/good time. Basically will hook up an IV of Tito's Thursday night and won't stop until Sunday afternoon. Only thing that sucks is that I won't see much of the The Open. Also, I just ordered 3 new Vokey wedges: 52, 56, and 60, and 2 dozen ProV1s.
Well my game is shit right now. I don't appreciate all of these positive swing thoughts in the thread right now.
This weekend was the city championship here at my course. There's only two flights, so you either play at scratch or with a handicap. The handicapped flight had some amazing sandbagging going on. A few guys that I know of that normally play the back tees were playing with their same handicap from the tips but on a forward set, likely a couple stroke difference. The winner was a 17 handicap that had two net rounds under par. I don't know the guy but I know that statistically, a 17 isn't playing to that handicap very often, much less two days in a row
