Yeah I never understood this. Hillary's resume for the job was bout as robust as it could have been. Yeah she kind of came off prickly at times but if she had been a dude no fucks would have been given. She and her team just fucking underestimated trump. It's not like she and DJT were some sort of equally bad choice. Come on
I completely get why people don't want to do the "vote for the lesser of two evils" thing, but it's really the only responsible option given the system we have designed. If we could change how we elect the president and go to a ranked choice voting or something like that, then yea, absolutely vote for a third party candidate or something. We should all be pushing for that in local elections to start, and see where it goes. For the presidential election though? Sorry, you have two choices.
There's a lot of people you can remove from harm's way by voting the lesser of two evils. See: the southern border
The weird thing is that the people that didn’t vote for Hillary also lament about the Dems not running a centrist candidate. They’re fucking morons. And I don’t think Hillary underestimates Trump. She clarified what he was multiple times to the American public. Her failure was underestimating the electorate
Hillary was by no means my ideal choice and I live in the goddamn bible belt and you better believe I was in line bright and early to vote for her I actually voted absentee but the point remains
They screwed up a lot of things and I don't think you can point to one particular fuck up. Overestimating the intelligence of the electorate is one. Not campaigning in the right areas was another. She also focused way too much on Trump during her speeches, the debates, etc. Now, the media had a huge fucking part in not letting her policies break through, and all they would focus on was e-mails vs. whatever dumb thing Trump had done in the last 12 hours. And that same pattern continued for a fucking year. The media was utterly fucking negligent in their reporting of the 2016 election.
100%. He's going to make numbers up. Census Bureau suggests 90% or more accuracy on citizenship determination. He's going to fudge the results in R's favor.
This press conference is insane. They have blatantly lied over and over again. Are they saying that the census will incorporate other info? I’m not really sure what they are going for here other than getting deeper data for redistricting, which is a bit scary. I can’t imagine they have given up on trying to take representation away from blue states though.
Gosh, this old data is so much more accurate than the census, why did we ever need the question on the census itself?
Hilary was the worst possible Dem candidate. After 8 years of an exciting, thoughtful and relatable President the Dems nominated the anti-Obama. She’s a silver spoon, cold, establishment candidate who made zero effort to relate to or speak to middle America/middle class people (quite literally in some states). She was a place holder, who expected to win and it showed. I’m not drawn to candidates who are there because they navigated the party ranks making sure to shake the right hands and refusing to ruffle feathers. Give me someone with a vision, a plan, and energy. She was none of that. I have plenty of issues with his politics but I would have voted for Bernie in 2016.
They've shown nothing that says they've learned anything from 2016. Trump will be a clown show and the left will be held to standards they have for decades.
Bill Barr announced they are going to try to use non-census data to determine apportionment saying it was an open question. I don’t think it is at all, but this is coming from a guy that thinks it’s impossible for a president to obstruct justice or for anyone to obstruct justice if they aren’t also charged with the underlying crime that inspired the investigation. So I’m not sure that he is a trusted source on legal matters. It also highlights the importance of democrats winning in 2020
This is the literal worst answer you could have given, come on man. At least ATTEMPT to make a substance based argument.
Hillary Clinton made no effort to relate to the middle class! - says me, a person ignoring all of her policy ideas that would have benefitted the middle class She was an imperfect candidate, but that post is hot garbage formed by years of shitty news publications and private convos with right wing dopes
That’s what I got out of it also, but there is in-State apportionment versus total state representation. I think the first is something they would have done anyway with this data that they already supposedly have access to. Not adding the census question hurts their ability to get more data for the second, but doesn’t help the first. The second scares me a bit more.
It doesn’t matter how awful she was. Trump was more awful and she was the only person, in our system, with the possibility of beating him.
The woman in the stupid dress is Joy Villa, apparently some big Q and/or Scientology person. Totally normal that she's getting invited to the social media summit and the Rose Garden afterwards.
Oh they’re going to use it for nefarious purposes. There’s nothing they do that isn’t some sort of movie villain type of shit.
As awful as this shit seems, every once and a while I close my eyes and envision drinking a glass of whiskey as the democratic candidate breaks the 270 mark and trump starts to cry on twitter about it
She’s worn a stupid Trump dress for like 3 of the last Oscars. She’s a stain on the red carpet and nothing more.
