I’d take the train, that cab will probably cost at least $50, and I’ve never driven from ohare that early on a Saturday but pretty often a cab barely saves you anytime over the train anyways

Taxi will save you maybe 10-15 min if traffic is good.

I’d take the blue line to lake, then. Uber to the hotel

There won’t be much, if any, traffic at 820 am on a Saturday. Cab will still be expensive though. Can probably Uber for $30-40.

At 8:20AM on Saturday traffic should be light, so in theory uber would be fine. Check google maps before making your decision unless $$'s mater that much then take the train, its fine

How much shit are you bringing? The Milwaukee and Grand stop is borderline walking distance to the Hyatt House West Loop. Plus you can scout out all the spots on your walk.

Or you can just Uber/Lyft from there. No need to go all the way into the Loop to Lake if you don't have to.

this is what i pay you all for, if weather isn't trash definitely going to do Milwaukee/Grand stop

staying at the Hoxton for the rest of the days so imagine that's how we'll get back to ORD

nah have a roister reservation and contemplated how awful it'd be to show up at au cheval when it opens to see how bad it is

not taking advantage of that hotels restaurants really, will likely try to get drinks/empandas at Cabra at some random hour and hit Lazy Bird same

Not overkill actually. That flight is always packed if not full. Delta only runs 6 destinations out of ORD so you essentially have to make a connection through a hub (ATL, MSP, CVG, SLC, etc)

the info on this is crazy mixed, it seems that Ventra says they track your CC # to calculate transfers etc

"When using a digital wallet to pay, you’ll be charged a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) fare when you board. Transfers are now available between services when using contactless PAYG and are charged at the same rate as when using a Ventra Card. If using a Pay app, be sure to have the app use the same funding source every time you tap to make sure you get the best fare. "

not 100% convinced due to the mixed responses on reddit regarding it but seems to be the case if you trust ventra

be real nice to not have to fuck with anything but just using my phone for transit

Monday at 10AM is the best time to hit up Cheval tbh. I presume that’s not an option though. Maybe Wednesday at 10 before you fly out.

FWIW they made a change to the Ventra system a few months ago, and I’ve consistently gotten my ApplePay transfers charged appropriately since. It was hit or miss before then.

We will be in Chicago this weekend, first time. Dinner reservations at Gibson's Steakhouse, NoMi, & RPM Italian. Any of those a mistake?

Will be staying on magnificent mile (is it frowned upon by locals calling it that?). Thursday we will be getting there very early and have a lot of time to kill until dinner. Mainly want to know a place in that area that will have good bloody marys & brunch/lunch? Probably going to art institute but what else should we do? Navy pier? Also most of Friday during the day is free. Nights we already have covered.

I know thread is only 9 pages long but I'm p busy today and tomorrow. TIA

also Uber or Lyft in your fine city?

    1. River walk is pretty awesome, although will be really crowded during the weekend. If you wanted to hit up the Art Institute and aren't afraid of walking, doing the river walk to Maggie Daley Park to Millennium/Grant Park is something that I legit love doing and do almost every weekend during the summer (never gets old)
    2. I always suggest Cindy's as a place to stop by for a drink, especially if you can sneak in early on a weekday afternoon when it's not crowded. Great view of the lake/parks.
    3. Fulton Market/West Loop is another neighborhood that I'm a big fan of walking through. You won't be able to walk over there from Mag Mile, but there's some great restaurants and just good vibes over there during the summer. A bunch of places have rooftop patios in that area - I suggest Aba.
    4. Cafecito is a great lunch spot right off of the north end of Mag Mile. Not sure on the alcohol situation, although I know they do serve beer/booze.
