Posted that as well. That crap happens every day in every county. Obviously this was a serious case. *And it’s not bad police thread issue.
We don’t have a bad judges thread and since it’s related to the criminal justice system I decided to put it here.
Johnson, an African American, kept promising more diversity. But when it came time for the hiring in CPD's expansion, whites got nearly twice as many of the jobs as African Americans, according to an analysis of city personnel data by WBEZ. As the department grew, black representation in CPD actually decreased. African American officers also faced wider disparities in promotions, the analysis found. And their odds of being a detective dropped while the odds for whites increased — even as the department struggled to solve the shootings. Some black politicians in Chicago have accused the Police Department of unfairly screening out African American applicants through debt restrictions, psychological testing, and a rule that recruits have the equivalent of two years of college. Still, CPD's traditional disparities continued. Whites got 59.4% of promotions; Latinos got 20.5%, and African Americans got 16.9%. But CPD's growth did little to make the supervisory ranks more diverse. By this May, 17.0% of white officers were supervisors. The figure for black officers was 9.3%. For Latinos, it was just 7.4% Whites also got more than their share of detective promotions. CPD detective ranks increased by 240 during the three years ending this May. The number of white detectives increased by 159, Latino detectives by 67 and black detectives by just 3. Whites also got more than their share of detective promotions. So the police department actually improved its diversity pretty significantly. Only 40% of the new hires were white-non hispanic. Slightly overrepresented by demographics of 40% vs 32%. Hispanics were actually the most likely group to be hired at 40% vs their 28% population But you and Truman just want to imply it's simply racism?
Anyone remember that one cop who basically executed an unarmed man in a hotel hallway in AZ? He got quietly rehired by Mesa PD so that he could get that monthly pension that he deserved, around $2500.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/11/us/florida-deputy-arrested-planting-drugs-charges/index.html It took 100+ cases getting tossed out but they finally arrested the Florida cop that was planting drugs on people.
Video is blocked. Is that the one where he made the guy crawl to him and shot him for messing up Simon Says?
I didnt imply racism. I implied they struggle to recruit/keep black officers because of stories like the one I posted. Try not being a defensive twat that’s always projecting for once. Who knows, you might even like it.
Not a lot of info available, but Eric Logan's son was shot in the leg by police last week. Logan was the man killed by police without the camera on last month... Waiting for details but not a good look shooting the son of the man you just killed and whose family is suing you.
US cop fired over deadly shooting 'rehired to get pension' Media captionDaniel Shaver was unarmed when he was shot A US police officer who was fired after shooting dead an unarmed man was temporarily rehired so he could apply for a pension, local media report. Philip Brailsford, 28, killed 26-year-old Daniel Shaver in the hallway of an Arizona hotel in early 2016. He was fired and charged with murder - but was acquitted at trial in 2017. Records show that he was briefly rehired last year so he could apply for a lifetime pension worth more than $2,500 (£2,000) a month. The move meant he could be medically retired - rather than fired - which made him eligible for the pension. "He was eligible for retirement benefits, so he applied for them," local official Chris Brady told ABC News. He added that Mr Brailsford had submitted a claim of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in connection with the shooting. Image copyright Mesa Police Department Image caption Philip Brailsford was found not guilty of murder in December 2017 The former officer signed an agreement with city officials that allowed him to apply for an accidental disability pension and medical retirement, the Mesa Police Department said. Records, seen by the Arizona Republic newspaper, show that Mr Brailsford was reinstated for 42 days last August so he could make the application. "[He] was not in any way fulfilling a capacity as a police officer" during this time, a police spokesman told the newspaper. No weapon found Mr Shaver was confronted by police responding to a report of a man pointing a gun out of a hotel room window in January 2016. Bodycam footage of the incident, released after Mr Brailsford was acquitted, showed Mr Shaver on his knees asking officers not to shoot him. But he was shot five times with a semi-automatic rifle as he crawled towards the officers while sobbing. Lawyers argued that Mr Brailsford had responded appropriately, according to his training, when Mr Shaver reached towards his waistband - because he believed there was a concealed firearm there. No weapon was found on the body, but Mr Bailsford said he believed Mr Shaver was reaching for one. The police report said the victim had shown guests in his hotel room a rifle he used for work. It later emerged that the rifle was an airsoft or pellet gun, rather than a genuine firearm.
Looked it up and you could not be more wrong. Seems like the department found his use of force excessive and he resigned. https://news.vice.com/en_us/article...spray-at-driver-reportedly-suffering-a-stroke
Idk about “more wrong.” Video is from 2015. He resigned. Sued in 2016. Here he is in 2018 winning an award with the Sheriff’s Office from the same county:
Amazing how you have to make up what people said to win an argument because you talked yourself into a corner.
Except I didn’t. Which is why you had to resort to ad hominem attacks. And why you’re being so defensive right now.
Cop runs stop sign, crashes into another vehicle, arrests the crash victim. The man who the officer hit -- identified as 27-year-old Carlos Martinez -- has no criminal record and that the officer allegedly told Martinez he did not have any rights while making the arrest. Martinez suffered minor injuries and is not facing any criminal charges as a result of the crash.
Have you seen how most people argue on this website? No one wants to be wrong. It’s always the other guy’s fault.
yes, including me and you on this site ha. I understand not wanting to look bad, but that LEO gambled some petty punishment with a full on firing and he lost. Too many damn camera’s out there now a days.
Not surprising that you’re defending the wrongful arrest of a Hispanic guy despite the fact that the department acknowledged it was.
I’m actually making fun of people like yourself that would be dumb enough to do what the cop did. Thank you for proving my point.
No, you’re doing what you always do when a black and brown person is involved finding a way to justify them getting fucked. I thank you for putting your bigotry on full display.
Despite the childish nature of your reply it’s actually a good reply by you because if you tried denying your bigotry your posting history would’ve proven you wrong.
I hope one day you realize baselessly calling someone racist because you don't like them is pretty unsavory and counter productive to your cause. I know you feel emboldened by AOC calling Pelosi a racist. But it isn't a good look to call those of us who have been lifelong Democrats racist. I then pity you for not being able to comprehend the conversation between myself and 941Gator
I’m not calling you racist, I’m calling you a bigot and there’s nothing baseless about that, your posts constantly defend Shitty AMC Show and false arrest of minorities. Also believe it or not, minorities don’t need AOC to embolden us, I know this is shocking to you but we’re capable of thinking for ourselves.
You've shown yourself incapable of thinking for yourself. You're in here accusing me of defending the cop who ran a stop sign when that never occurred. Do you ever think that your bias has led to a skewed reality?
Yes, I know you believe all minorities are incapable of thinking for ourselves, another consistency in your posting history do no surprise that you would post that yet again.
Do you do this in the real world? Any time anyone makes a comment about you it’s a reflection of your race? You do realize I have no idea what your race is, right?
You have used this excuse in the past, so I know you’re aware of my race, much like your act this excuse got old and outdated. Try a different excuse to wave away your posting history.
I should be surprised that a cop had the audacity to arrest someone to avoid admitting he ran a stop sign and caused a wreck but I'm not.
