This is the first piece of furniture that we've ever bought together I think (the rest has been for my various dwellings as a "bachelor"), and because I liked the bed it's now "the bed." I just want to go check out more than 1 store before we buy the damn thing, esp. if I can save a grand or so. Thanks - we will check these out.
My wife has spent a lot of money at Three Sheets and Stock & Trade. Both in Homewood and both have nice furniture.
Oranjello on the list of furniture store in Homewood at home has a good selection of modern pieces and Seibels has a bunch of cool Lakehousey type stuff. Both places will melt your credit card but have well constructed items
My grandparents gave me a full size bed and chifferobe when they moved out of their house. Not sure how old they are. They got them from my grandfather's parents(my great grandparents). They might be older than that. Nothing really fancy but they do have some decorative wood work. I need to get someone to retrofit it to at least a queen and do so minor resteration & repair work. I thought about trying to attach a queen floor frame to the head and footboards but really don't want to damage them. The footboard has already been repaired before at some point in time.
Posted pics in the homeowners thread, but we just finished a kitchen renovation. If any of y’all have ever given thought or plan to renovate a kitchen, Cabinetry Refinishing Ent. (https://cabinetryrefinishing.com/) did a great job on ours and was very reasonably priced. Happy to pass along contact info.
They should write a book how to stay open for 40 years while providing the shittiest service possible.
Y'all are talking about also-rans. Billy's cornered the market on shitty service. It was as if they were mad at you for placing your order. It was so bad it was like they were trying to be bad. If they'd embraced the shitty service as an ironic ad campaign, it probably would have caught on.
Billy's would answer the phone and say "please order to-go orders through waiter" and fucking hang up.
ah yes my b. i have a friend who's thankfully friendly enough with the staff that he let me tag along. i'm glad to have experienced it but not sure i wanna go back.
I had to google Billies in Lakeview and here is what I learned from reddit: - bunch of old men drinking bud lights - the regulars don't want you there - kinda racist - feels like somebody's basement
if instagram wasn't fucked rn i could show the one pic i captured at billie's that will confirm the bold
Billy’s is what Oteys is now for the crowd who graduated college before like 95. It truly was let’s see how long we can get by on nothing but ordinary bar food and our name. They’d advertise Football specials on Saturday and Sunday then staff two waitresses to handle it. While being shocked that so many people came to watch football at a sports bar in Birmingham.
It's basically devine's bar were it a real place. The bathrooms are detached and made mostly of plywood.
I called in to-go orders a few times. Every time it was “be ready in fifteen minutes”. Show up twenty minutes later. Wait twenty more minutes to get food. There was no point in calling ahead.
On the subject of decaying old standards what the hell is going on at Nabeels? I went there for the first time in about two years yesterday for lunch. Service was good, but place was just about empty and dirty. Food wasn't as good either
I had heard it was closing a few years ago but it sounds like someone else bought it and is just doing a half assed job running it?
Nabeel’s takes an hour and half to get in and out of there for lunch. I usually ask for the check when I’m finished ordering and have given them the card without inspecting the check to save time. That mint tea is the bomb though.
The one behind lakeview? I went in there after moving to 29/7 a couple years ago. Got a very strong get the fuck out of here vibe.
Well that article just pissed me off. Apparently filming multiple women changing against their will is a misdemeanor.
