Been obsessed with this Cult of Luna album for a bit now after seeing my beloved Brutus lead singer/drummer pick it out in one of those youtube videos where artists try to show how obscure they can get with their vinyl selections. The chick's vocals are one of my favorite things about it tbh, kind of disappointed she's only on this album. Actually listening to it right now, which is why I decided to do a TMB search on the topic. *Party on Wayne*
Do I have this correct, 14 full length albums and two EPs released in three years? https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Gaslarm/3540425581
looks like i was based on the posts that followed. anyway, he posted some vague shit on facebook yesterday about the situation and now the account is either deleted or went private. based on comments on the story when it broke apparently their relationship was bad enough that it was one of the reasons that the 3 other guys from the Terminal Redux era quit. i kind of just assumed that having 3/4 of the band quit at the same time meant he was a major league asshole like the dude from The Faceless it's pretty disappointing because Vektor is great
“There’s a lot of misinformation going on. I tried to stay quiet, but there is too much hatred spawning off of everything. I’ve gotta say something but keep things vague. I need everyone to know that sometimes relationships get tricky and people say and do bad things when things turn sour. I never wanted my life to turn into a dumb reality show/Soap Opera, but here it is. It really demeans the music this band has created. There’s a person who has destroyed this entire band and, (surprise!) it wasn’t me. I honestly feel very embarrassed that I lied for many years trying to save that person, while hurting myself, band mates, friends, and family in the process. All I ask is for all the hatred to stop. That’s all I’ve wanted from the beginning. “Please don’t get swallowed up in drama. Think for yourself, take the best knowledge you’re presented with and make up your own mind. That’s what Vektor is all about. Personal BS doesn’t have a place in all this. Be nice to each other. Be fair and ethical. I got stuck in a difficult situation, and one 15 second instant of my personal life was blown up on the internet. I’m sure a lot of you out there have lived through something similar, maybe to less of an extreme… Not fun for both sides. I’m lucky to have such supportive friends and family. I don’t want to imagine what would’ve happened to someone who didn’t have that kind of support… Anyone who has something bad to say: Go ahead. I’m sorry for you in the future because it probably means you haven’t been through something like this before. It’s hard, and it will ruin you. I’ve received a lot of hate mail… Please, please, please do not send any hate mail to the other party involved. Don’t even respond to negative comments. Let those people say what they gotta say and let’s be cool to each other. Let’s stop this hatred and move forward. This personal crap, dirty laundry doesn’t belong online or in metal, especially when dealing with false accusations. For the fans… I’ve been talking with Erik. We’re friends again, and we’ll see what happens.”
I'm still pissed that I didn't go to the Vektor/Black Fast tour when it came to Portland. Black Fast did a couple dozen shows last summer after their album released but didn't come anywhere near here and haven't done anything since. They said something about upcoming West Coast dates on their Facebook page but that was 6+ months ago :|
Ive decided i dont like new opeth bc of the weird ass vocal effects. Everything else is fine, but whatever theyve been using on his voice is not great.
I find that enjoyable new stuff tends to come in spaced out bunches for me, and tbh I've also noticed a trend of them coming, almost on cue, right after I've made a similar post as yours on TMB lamenting the lack of new albums that really hit the spot. So fear not burnt, I'm sure you'll be swimming in new spot hitting non-Opeth music in no time, probably
Agree with this, 2019 has been a drought for me too with finding good new stuff, but there is a shitload on the horizon I am looking forward to
What is your favorite opening to a song? Mine is so simple, but so fucking good. That snare intro into that riff... Yes this is a drunk post.
Honorable mentions. Despite lame ass James LaBrie vocals, this song and Overture 1928 got me playing on a kit. That intro is hard as fuck don't @ me. Also, it's a classic for a reason. Holy Wars is one of the nastiest, hardest hitting pieces of music ever written. No room to breathe, right from the get go.
There's a new Tomb Mold out, shitbags. Apparently there's a new Sabaton out too, but I can't bring myself to listen to it.
I've been listening to this off and on for the past week. Take the underwater acoustic part off the end and I think it's pretty good. If nothing else he has gone from clean vocals that were nice for a prog metal band to imo having one of the best rock voices out there now
