Stokes has played some sensational innings this WC. If he goes, you gotta think it's over.. On that note .. what a ball. So close!!
I think in a normal match New Zealand wins. But with it being the finals they are doing a super over, which I don’t know what that is
Scores are tied at the end of play, so it doesn't matter if England are bowled out. Super over rules are that you start fresh with all batsmen available.
No, it would still be a tie in a normal match - wickets are irrelevant. I'm just glad England didn't win by being the higher ranked team which I was worried about.
Fuckin gutted for NZ. To lose a WC because you hit 1 less boundary in the super over (after two ties) is heartbreaking. Fair play to England. Butler and Stokes dug in and Stokes took it home.
Indeed. What about the 2 wickets NZ took vs. 0 from England? How about whoever hits a 6 wins the tie breaker. Fuck this super over rule. If England had lost because if that rule, you'd not have heard the end of it.
there are 2 things that kinda even it out to me. 1 the wide called on the first ball of the NZ SO was not a wide, was over the inside half of the line after the bat had already shuffled across his stumps a good bit. Secondly i do think NZ had the better part of the conditions of the pitch tbqh
I got to say I’ve watched the highlights so many times. Just a fucking unreal match. Sad most people in this country have no idea how exciting that truly was
Not getting too excited yet because we've been here before (1-0) and lost. But it's a nice start and I'd rather be in our position than their's.
englands batting is such a mess. Root has fallen of a bit, bairstow, stokes and butler are all not in the finest of form and whoever else they line up is worse at batting than the all rounders that they leave on the bench. Also their bowling is very reliant on movement in the air
Man. What an innings. Absolute unit. On a side note - in Utrecht right now and hitting up Eindhoven for a day trip tomorrow
Well done, boys - mission accomplished. Did it the hard way but we've been the better side by miles in the series and would have been an injustice if England had somehow fluked a win.
I know this threads been dead but damn what a chase to win the match last night. I'd have taken a draw at the start of the day with Cummings bowling as well as he was.
