I think Craig was done after Spectre but his movies have grossed so much they convinced him to come back. They ended his storyline in the last film. I wonder if they can’t find the right guy to be the next Bond, the next Bond wasn’t available yet or the producers weren’t ready to take a chance on anyone so they went for a 51 year old guy as Bond who has delivered.
Thunderball might be the most overrated of all Bond films. That being said, it is probably #1 on the list for best Bond girls
Time for some on the fly rewrites where a plucky analyst played by Shia LeBeouf takes over in the field when 007 is sidelined by injury
Um. So idk how to say this, but the New York Post either got hacked, or they just spoiled the hell out of the new Bond movie. Spoiler
People freaking out and they don’t understand that James Bond will still be in the movie, the 007 name is handed over to a new character. I think it sounds kinda cool.
I was actually just really looking forward to Idris, but whatever. 007 does get handed down, and this is an effort to make the character more contemporary. This being the choice was probably unthinkable until very recently, so that’s awesome. Hollywood largely quit on making new and creative properties years ago, so I wouldn’t have expected anyone to create a separate franchise for a black, female agent.
if people actually look at it, there isn't really a controversial choice being made. The universe continues with a different person as the focus. Not sure how much sense it makes to give the new person the 007 callsign because typically those are unique to the person, but it's really not a big deal. James Bond isn't changing. He can and most likely will come back at some point.
Could be reading too much into it. Could simple take his number while he's undercover, much like whichever book it was.
my problem with the always hypothetical Idris casting was they're roughly the same age. I mean yes it'd be cool to see him play that character but thematically you aren't really moving the needle, going to get similar "old beat up Bond" storylines.
Idris would have been great 10 years ago, even 15 but his time has passed. with that said, I'd still take Idris over 007 not even being Bond.
Yeah and ultimately...who the hell cares? It’s a fictional character made for entertainment. Just make a good movie. I imagine her name won’t be a female form of James. But if that’s the case....why not just create an integral black female the way they were with Money Penny in Skyfall?
Will Lynch be the new 007 going forward or is she just in this film? Spoiler Also, is this how they are going to kill off Bond but keep the franchise going?
Not a fan of them doing it, but there is a rumor going around that Craig and Broccoli want it to happen.
