wound up buying a seiko turtle. for daily wear i like the durability with the really comfortable rubber strap and water resistance. Spoiler
Solid choice... We twinning. Have had this Prospex model for about 2 years. I love it, but sadly, it rarely gets worn.
Is Hardlex that much worse than sapphire? There are a couple Seikos I've had my eye on but I've been hesitant to pull the trigger.
You pay premium for Sapphire. Continue saving, or settle & wear it carefully, as Polywatch won’t remove scratches.
It has nothing to do with not wanting to pay a premium. It has to do with Seiko not using sapphire on hardly anything.
It’s on their high end pieces, hence the premium. The Hardlex crystal is why Seiko is typically considered a value brand
My logic is that if the hardlex gets scratched up badly, which I doubt it will, I think a sapphire crystal upgrade is like 50 bucks. That’s why so many people by Seikos with the intent of modding them. They are relatively cheap to upgrade, and typically not precious enough that you are going to worry about them getting a little beat up. I think my gshock dw6500 has a mineral window. I’ve had it for 5 or 6 years and don’t really notice any scratches.
In Australia for work and the dollar is so strong that the watch is 19% off list before we even start negotiating. This might happen sooner than anticipated
I did a little experiment, set my Sea Dweller to the exact second based on atomic time. Just checked back 7 days later and it lost 10 seconds.
That is normal unfortunately. I was shocked to learn this but they told me when I purchased mine they can lose/gain up to 5 mins a month in some extreme cases.
I never should have bought this thing. I am going to spend an ungodly amount of money on watches in my lifetime. I'm obsessed.
That’s my thing. Watches. I don’t wear much jewelry or flashy stuff. Watches are my vice. Luckily I haven’t been looking recently. An omega is probably my next.
Someone help me here. Looking at Rolex Pepsi's and I really want the blue face but I think it only comes in white gold so the damn thing is $35k+. The black face one is steel and only $10k. Is there any way to get the blue face in steel?
Got my watch back from Omega, decided to change my band up and put on their Velcro band....I love it. Omega did a great job as normal....I gotta take off that plastic shield on the face....I forgot.
I believe they used to make one - I was looking for this too at one point but all I could find were used ones. Either they used to make them or people have had them customized. I asked at a jewelry store why Rolex didn't do a SS w/ blue dial and the salesperson said that that was their way of making it known that someone was wearing white gold and not stainless

I guess that makes sense. Frustrating bc I like the blue face and the oyster band more than black and jubilee. But lol at $35k+.
I don't think I could bring myself to buy a $10k watch off eBay. I'd be too worried about it being fake.
The buyers are protected. Once it arrives you get it checked out at an authorized Rolex dealer and if it’s not real or not to your liking you return it
Sweet heavens I may have to cop one of those old school leather band Rolexes. $2600 for a timeless piece of art like that is a steal.
Just checked with my buddy that’s a Rolex guy, they only make the black face in steel. It’s possible to switch faces if you have it done, but will kill the value of the watch.
Sucks so bad. I loved the black face jubilee when they came out last year but couldn't find one that wasn't 2x mark up. Now the blue face oyster came out and I like it way more but lol @ $35k.
This is done on purpose where certain watches and certain watch styles clearly come in either precious metal or steel, not both. It’s why you don’t see any steel day dates. You can make a Frankenstein Rolex if you want but will kill the value.
Someone just added me on ig. He has a Rolex, 2 pugs, and drinks good beer. Is that someone from here or should I introduce myself to this fine fella?
Get a used Rolex from a site like the Omega one I posted. What you want is out there... just have to find it. Or you can come work as my in-house assistant & I'll get you the white gold one as your "bonus" in 2020
You can't afford me. So they made the blue face oyster in steel at one point? Where can I do research on this so I can hunt for it?
The Pepsi GMT isn't for me, but understand why you want it... what is wrong with this, honestly? It's a classic. Drop the $10k & call it a day Spoiler
A day date is a style watch made by Rolex only made in precious metal. If you see one you know it’s not steel. Rolex does it on purpose. That awesome light blue distinctive dial watch people love? Only on platinum.
While I appreciate them, I am decidedly not a Rolex guy. If I were to purchase one, it would be a Datejust w/ rhodium dial Spoiler
I prefer the blue face. That one has the oyster bracelet though so I like it better than the 2019 model with the jubilee bracelet. Just not a big fan of the jubilee bracelet.
Looks like a black face with the oyster bracelet? I like that. The bracelet difference is a much bigger deal than the blue/black face.
