Voting in a mobile app, if they figured out how to allow it, would be a ballot stuffing initiative for this admin
PA House GOP Rep. Scott Perry won re-election just 51-49 last year and faces a serious challenge in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District from Democratic state Auditor Eugene DePasquale, but let’s just say this burgeoning threat hasn’t exactly motivated Perry to get his shit together. Perry just reported raising $150,000 from April 1 to June 30, which is terrifically bad for a vulnerable incumbent, and finished the second quarter of the year with just $300,000 in the bank. Bizarrely, though, Perry filed two fundraising reports: a “pre-special” election filing covering the period of April 1 to May 4, and a “post-special” report for the remainder of the quarter. You can be forgiven for forgetting about the special election Perry went through earlier this year because there wasn’t one. There was a special in the state’s 12th District on May 21, which Republican Fred Keller and Democrat Marc Friedenberg had to file two FEC reports for. That contest, which Keller won, had no impact on candidates for Pennsylvania’s 17 other congressional districts, though. For instance, Democratic Rep. Mike Doyle, who represents the 18th District, correctly filed precisely one quarterly fundraising report. We have no idea why Perry’s staffers decided to create unnecessary work for themselves by filing these two reports, nor why none of them caught the error in the nearly two months since they filed their first report. But given how little cash Perry’s reported raising in the last three months, it’s safe to assume he’s not hiring the best campaign staff money can buy. Want more great elections coverage like this? Rand Paul blocks Senate from approving 9/11 victim compensation fund By Jordain Carney Tweet Share Email Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Wednesday blocked an attempt by Democrats to pass an extension of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) tried to win the Senate's consent to approve the House-passed bill, which would reauthorize funding until fiscal year 2090. The bill cleared the House in a 402-12 vote last week. But Paul objected, pointing to the country's growing debt and arguing that any new spending should be offset by cuts to other spending. "It has long been my feeling that we need to address our massive debt in the country," he said. "And therefore any new spending ... should be offset by cutting spending that's less valuable. We need to at the very least have this debate." He added that if the House bill was brought up for a vote in the Senate he is planning to offer an amendment "but until then I will object." Under Senate rules any one senator can try to get consent, which requires the sign off of the entire chamber, to pass a bill or resolution, but one senator can also block that request. Gillibrand, after Paul objected, said she was "deeply disappointed" in his decision, adding "enough of the political games." "I am deeply disappointed that my colleague has just objected to the desperately needed and urgent bill for our 9/11 first responders," she added. Despite the back-and-forth on the floor, the Senate is expected to pass the bill before leaving for their summer recess by August 2. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) fast-tracked the House bill to the Senate calendar this week, paving the way for him to tee it up for a vote. McConnell said after a meeting with 9/11 first responders that it was his plan to bring the bill up before the recess. "We want to try to deal with (the legislation) before the August recess," he said.
Figured it would be McConnell. Mother fucker Edit: Looks like Mike Lee was involved also. https://nypost.com/2019/07/17/activists-blame-senator-mike-lee-for-holding-up-the-9-11-victims-fund/
Sorry, but I’ve been fooled most of my life by this country. I’m not letting it happen again. 2016 is the year America showed it’s true colors and I don’t see a way back. They literally voted for a white supremacist and Im actually supposed to believe anything he’s done has changed their minds or hasn’t brought in new voters? I’m not that naive
They sure did...by a whopping ~100k in three states. It sucks for America, it sucks for disadvantaged and persecuted "others" more. It could very well happen again if the economy keeps humming. The key is getting the good people to the polls. Good still outnumbers the bad. They did in 2016 (sheer numbers and in the ignorant who didn't vote) and they should by even more in 2020. Just need them to be in the right places because of our archaic system.
I’m not a racist. I just happen to believe it is for the best if only white people had voting rights. That used to be called a little something called patriotism. Hail Hydra.
another cool thing from your political hero BetterCallSaul i bet he probably loves child concentration camps as much as you do
Kobach literally has spent his career making efforts to prevent POC’s from voting. Is the host shocked that he’d support a racist? The media is just so seemingly disconnected from what’s actually going on. Why is Kobach even being interviewed
He's running for Senate (and hopefully wins the GOP nom...worth the risk to have a shot at the seat imo)
That’s great and all, but they may as well have brought back Richard spencer for that interview. At least he’s honest about being a fucking nazi. It’s just annoying how they continue to ask these people with LONG DETAILED HISTORY OF RACIST ACTIONS if they think what Trump said is racist. Of course they fucking don’t they 100% agree with him. You can’t believe you’re racist if you think your actions towards POC’s are completely justified
You hadn’t been paying attention then if that was the case. Did you grow up in a nice area? Upper middle class?
I did and yeah I had to learn what America was about the hard way over the course of the past few years even before 2016. I just thought Obama was a sign that things are changing for the better. I was wrong as fuck
This country is bullshit. Ultimately Trump is exactly the president Americans deserve. People like to say "if you don't like it here, you can leave!" But it's like, no, actually it's really fucking difficult to leave, why the fuck do you think I'm still here?
I grew up in a poor area. Most of the people I associated with growing were people of color. None of this is shocking or new to me. My wife is 3rd generation Mexican-American. On here she has been called a spic, a werback etc. IRL she has been told go back to where she is from. I have friends who’ve been told to go back to Africa. The shitpit morons are so fucking stupid they regurgitate white supremacist talking points that they don’t realize it or they do and don’t care.
Last election had the highest voter turnout in history (over 5.5 million more than 2008). Trump received the most votes ever for a Republican candidate and still lost the popular vote by 2.1% of the total vote. Republicans TURNED THE FUCK OUT to vote and it took the electoral college for him to win. There's no Republicans that didn't vote, they were sick of Obama and got to the polls. That's all the racists, evangelicals, capitalists, old whites, incels, and wealthy elites there were. On the flip side Hilary got less votes than Obama got in either of his Presidential races. If anything, there are tons of potential Dem voters out there that voted third party or didn't go to the polls, not the other way around. Trump isn't getting former Dem voters on board by saying racist, sexist shit. He's galvanizing them to get back to the polls because many are POC and moderates who didn't want to vote Trump but weren't motivated to vote for Hilary. Trump won because of election meddling, gerrymandering and Hilary neglecting states she thought were in the bag. And even then he won by the skin of his teeth. There's no voter pool for him to swing left to right, the Dems will carry the popular vote again. Fun facts about how close the 2016 Election was. In the 2016 Presidential Election Trump carried 6 states by less than 3.7% of the vote in those states. Those states (Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) carried a total of 101 votes. Of those states he carried Michigan by 0.23% of the vote, Pennsylvania by 0.72%, and Wisconsin by 0.77%. All of those state had voted Dem the last 7 elections before going to Trump by less than 1% of the state vote. Give Hilary just those 3 States and she wins with 278 Electoral votes. She didn't need Florida or Ohio or North Carolina or even Arizona. Just those 3 and she lost them by a total of 78,000 votes combined. Dems need to just nominate someone exciting that can drive home what Trumps America will look like for them if they don't get people to the polls. Fight election meddling, gerrymandering and voter suppression in key battle ground states tooth and nail and Trump will be his own undoing. Fin.
