Alabama plays USC, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, A&M, etc in 2020. That sounds better. Your insistence in defending UCF for playing cupcakes and then crying about respect is hilarious.
I’m not talking shit about it at all. Their program is in a different place right now and they have to play to what little advantages they have — tons of empty seats at RayJay they can give to visiting teams to sell and a total lack of season ticket holders who will complain about having 5 home games in the not too distant future. The challenge is, at least in my opinion, is it further addicts them to the p5 teet instead of building up their own sustainability which only comes by focusing on fan growth. They’ve got shit for season ticket holders and their annual alumni donations are at the bottom of the entire AAC. This gives them great exposure but kicks the can on solving those two things, and without it, they won’t ever get their OCS or IPF or any of the other wish list items.
On one hand the SEC's OOC schedule would look like a real life vagina if it were a thing but on the other comparing P5 conference schedules to non-P5 conference schedules is dumb.
Conference schedule is not what is being talked about. Everyone has to play their conference schedule. You play an SEC conference schedule, we play an AAC conference schedule. The AAC conference schedule is weaker than an SEC conference schedule. We have no choice in that, it is what it is. However, you are mocking UCF for who they choose to schedule for their OoC games. I’m just bringing up the schools Bama choose to schedule for 2020 for their OoC schedule; 3 cupcakes at home, and USC is in there too
Not to mention that if even half of this bullshit about OOC games being necessary to build prestige were true, the Citadel would be a god damn powerhouse by now. People act as if they know what will get UCF invited to the p5 more than UCF — who has gone through the song and dance and been rejected for specific stated reasons multiple times. It ain’t got nothing to do with OOC games booked ten years in the future.
1. I'm mocking UCF for playing nobody OOC when they play nobody in conference. At the end of the day, I only care about total schedule. UCF's is shit. 2. You left off Alabama playing USC, an all-time top 5 power blue blood program.
UCF has to schedule strong OOC to play a single team worth a shit. Bama can schedule four nobodies and play multiple very good teams every year. That's the difference. You can ignore conference schedules if you'd like, but they make all the difference in this argument.
Nobody said playing those games builds prestige. Playing and WINNING those games does. I'm baffled that you can't comprehend that.
What scenario is more likely: - Playing games on the road over and over in places like Tuscaloosa and somehow winning the majority of them when basically no one does, at any level. - Running the table and upsetting a p5 in a nationally televised ny6 game after being the top ranked g5 Ditto kiddo. Good on USF for playing big p5's in September. They're playing the cards they have. We'll just keep playing our big game in January ;)
at pimping the gameplan of playing scrubs to go undefeated in the regular season. That's just embarrassing.
Not exactly. It's playing the cards we have in a corrupt system and maintaining long term vision. There's simply nothing a g5 can do to get into the CFP, by design. So instead you hold firm on 1:1's and let the system close in on you with this 2:1-only-for-g5s thing. You let the power conferences move to 9 or 10 game conference schedules. You sit back and let them shrink the inventory further. Now all the sudden you have a situation where a few conferences literally own a majority stake in a "playoff" that requires SoS as an entry, when those same few conferences have absolute control over everything that determines that SoS. We can continue to collect the checks, continue to be a part of the conversation (I mean... UF and USF can't even schedule games without the articles ending up about us), and hopefully continue winning. When the times right and the pieces become overwhelming obvious, there's a slam dunk anti-trust case waiting to blow it all up.
I’m baffled that you can’t comprehend that it really doesn’t matter who schedule and play and beat. Until something changes with the CFP, they’ve determined that our ceiling (or any G5’s) is the at large game New Years game. We could schedule Bama, OSU, Georgia, Clemson, UF, Michigan, whoever. If we beat them it wouldn’t be a bunch of talk about how great UCF is, it would be a bunch of talk about how overrated that team must have been to lose to UCF from the AAC. How do I know? Because it happens literally every time we beat any P5 opponent.
My favorite part is like... we've sold out season tickets, right? And we had what, 10k a game the season before UCF started this whole thing? These clowns act like they know how to build a program and diss everything Danny's doing despite the now overwhelming evidence that UCF shouldn't do a single damn thing differently.
at you really believing that. If UCF were to beat Bama, Clemson and Georgia in 2019 while going undefeated in your other games, UCF would 100% make the playoffs.
No, that would count as the all important “quality loss” for them and the committee would still choose Bama, Clemson, and Georgia
I'm just pointing out this is wrong. UCF fans run with the "Playing real competition wouldn't help anyways!" to justify playing stiffs. It's really weird.
So all UCF has to do is beat all the playoff teams on the road all while going undefeated the rest of the way. Seems like reasonable and a fair request to make for a team with a total athletics budget of 40M.
We should have no problem predicting all 4 playoff teams 10 years down the road so we can manage to schedule them all. That's actually totally realistic and reasonable. Great job Bama fans you cracked the riddle and it's amazing that someone hasn't put you in charge of an athletics department because your roadmap to a CFP invite to UCF is so simple. Fire Danny White!
UCF fans - IT'S NOT POSSIBLE FOR US! THEY WON'T LET US IN! THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO! Rational fans - Actually, if you did X, Y, and Z, you'd definitely be in. UCF fans - THAT'S TOO HARD!
well since that schedule would never actually happen regardless of if we tried to schedule it or not, I'm using sarcasm to show the absurdity of what you are saying. That we would have to beat multiple playoff teams earlier in the same season before actually even getting considered for the playoff. I mean that did work out for Auburn in 2017 if I recall
Yeah you're right, I actually agree with you. We should just predict all 4 of the CFP participants 10 years into the future and schedule them all and then beat them all on the road while going undefeated. I don't get why UCF fans are pretending like this is difficult to figure out it's a clear path to the CFP. Then they just need to beat 2 of those teams again and they'll earn the championship just like everyone else has earned it.
UCF: We'll play anyone. P5: Play us with one arm tied behind your back. UCF: nah P5: wE OfFeReD UcF bUt ThEy SaId nO Facts are we need 7 home games to pay for what we've built and you can't change math. 1:1's and occasional 1 and done's accomplish it. Signing 2:1's all willy nilly like USF is doing right now doesn't. Combine it with the fact that it literally doesn't matter and the system rewards undefeated seasons over good efforts, and here ya go. Good news for us is it's working really, really well and UCF's business couldn't be better. Hell, our rival just scored the biggest series in their history and all everyone is doing is talking about us.
Wow! Congrats to our #UCF Knights posters on their AD actually growing a sack and agreeing to play someone... :checks notes: ...in basketball. Nevermind.
To be fair, UF refused to play outside the state of Florida since Syracuse in 91 until they played Michigan recently....
