I disagree, I thought it was well done in a slightly different tone. Knowing that Chance the Rapper was just random ass animals because they brought him in as a consultant on the first version was fun to try and spot in the "quiet" scenes.
That's cool. I'm glad you liked it, really. I went into Aladdin expecting to want to rip my eyes out, but I walked away loving it. I went into this expecting to love it and didn't. To each his own.
The animal style has nothing to do with anything I was talking about. I was talking about the acting and direction, not the animation.
they nailed the realism. an actual lion singing as captured by natgeo would have been more than what they settled on
Also, and I may get scolded but those who were worried about not having Jeremy Irons as Scar will likely be surprised.
Just got out of the movie. My five year old fucking loved it. I thought it was great. They tweaked some of the songs and a bit of the movie. I didn’t notice any overt political stuff so if it was there I was lost in the sauce to notice. Was nervous Scar would suck based on the previews but he was well done.
I thought some of the "This land is for everyone" while not overt was intentional, I may have read a bit deep. My 4 year old is still singing and playing with her Nala and Simba that of course they sold.
also I think whats different with the reactions of this and the other well reviewed remake Favreau did in the Jungle Book is that there is so much more emotional attachment to the Lion King with the adults in the crowd compared to the Jungle Book that feeds into the criticism a lot more also Lion King is at 56/91 critic/audience Aladdin is at 56/94 FYI
You won't need coffee. the open is awesome It got applause You know what is coming but seeing it is a lot.
Yeah took my son to Build a Bear before and then had to get the 13.00 dollar lion king bucket of popcorn. He thinks I’m Simba and he’s Kion lol.
my kid saw the McDonalds commercial so now I guess I am eating that tomorrow. She now "needs" a Happy Meal.
I saw THAT scene posted online and it was really bad to the point where I laughed. Hopefully the rest of the movie is better.
I’ll say this about those who didn’t like the movie I would agree that some of the actors did struggle to bring emotion/passion to the scenes. But it didn’t bother me to the point I didn’t enjoy the movie. But I think a couple of voice actors really could’ve been better. Also Rafiki was a slight disappointment for me till his final scene. Still go see the movie and enjoy it. It’s a fun two hours
Was decent Eichner and Rogen as Timon and Puumba stole the show, with Oliver as Zazu a solid runner up “Be prepared” was awful and may as well have not even bothered with the song Thought Beyoncé actually did a better job than Glover The lack of emotion from the faces was a bit awkward but can’t deny how far the technology has come
Saw it last night and enjoyed it. Only downfall was Beyonce sounding like she was reading from a book, but the rest I liked. Visually stunning, and the nostalgia was worth it even if the “lifeless” criticism is valid.
the image of a bunch of families settling in for the movie and dump walking in by himself. Then arguing with people on the internet about the movie afterward
not trying to be an ass but it sounds like expectations may be the problem here. falls in line with the criticism I see on the internet with Lion King. "it wasn't as great as I wanted it to be"
I enjoyed it but I do have a quick take quake: James Earl Jones’s performance sounded old and uninterested
His voice doesn’t have anywhere near the power it used to have. It’s obvious that Beyoncé hasn’t done much if any voice over work prior to this. She was very mediocre when she wasn’t singing. Be prepared was horribly done. Should have just kept the original or cut the whole thing. Lmao at the complaints of to much nazi undertones with scar and the hyenas. The OG was way more over the top with it. Timon and pumba were excellent. Changing “dress in drag and do the hula” to singing be our guest was perfect. Overall it was a very good movie. I enjoyed it.
I do not understand anyone that didn't like the movie. 95% the exact same story. Reading the reviews now. Just what did some of y'all want from an animated movie? They didn't read the line with enough passion!" Go back an watch the cartoon version. Exact same amount of passion. I tink you're not giving enough weight to just how important facial expressions are.
Just got back. Was ok. Thought Glover and Beyoncé did awful. Great CGI, but overall a lot of the voice acting felt like they Justin phoned it in.
