Good idea giving Yelich the day off and playing Thames in RF. Hopefully he is rested for the all important home run derby.
Stearns has totally and completely fucked up the management of this roster. Braun is hurt but they refuse to put him on the DL and this is probably at least the 20th awful decision that this team has made this season. I went from thinking this guy was the best young GM in baseball to wondering if he should even keep his job.
If we are going to trade the best relief pitcher in baseball with 4.5 years of control we have to get a ton in return. As much as I'm willing to do it I highly doubt the team would even consider trading Hader. As you know small market teams need to be creative and trading a reliever for 4 or 5 top prospects is something a team like the Brewers should consider.
IanC this is the second time you've changed the thread title yet I haven't heard any comments about where I am wrong about this team.
This fucking team is pure garbage. We have 5 all stars, 1 rookie who will be great, and 19 pieces of garbage. You know I once believed that Melvin was doing a good job but I learned really quickly that he sucked at his job and we are at that point with boy wonder.
Only an idiot would let the best pitching coach in team history walk out the door. Stearns should have realized that his trash pitching staff was being held up by a miracle worker.
Saladino has one hit since being called up yet he is pretty much playing every day. Yeah Counsell keep complaining about Arcia when you insist on playing a guy like this instead.
Once again great job Stearns for letting the genius out of the building. We need to bring Johnson back as manager and watch how our pitching staff is good once again. A guy like Burnes would be a top of the rotation guy with Johnson back in the fold instead of pitching to an infinity ERA under the overmatched Chris Hook.
Screw this rain delay just call the game so Yelich can get prepared for the all important home run derby. Who needs our best player in the lineup the last game before the all star break when he has to prepare for an exhibition event. Damn idiots running this team into the ground.
This pulling the starter when he is pitching decently after 4 innings and less than 75 pitches needs to end. This isn't the playoffs and this bullpen is garbage unlike last year.
Guerra has been terrible lately yet Counsell brings him in the 7th inning in a tie game. Instead of pinch hitting Braun for Burnes we should have just let Burnes hit for himself and stay in the game. Its not like Braun was going to actually get a hit.
No good dumbass manager. I could see Guerra getting bombed from a mile away yet this idiot let him give away the game anyway.
Stearns is a slightly better GM than Melvin and Counsell is pretty much Roenicke all over again. Maybe you can give Saladino another 100 at bats to show how much he sucks.
So Counsell pulls Anderson when he is pitching ok after less than 70 pitches. He then pinch hits for Burnes when he looks good to bring in Guerra who was throwing batting practice two nights ago and lucked out that the balls were smoked right at defenders. It was obviously that he was going to get lit up.
The best thing for this team would be for one of these other awful teams in the division to go on a run so we aren't delusional at the trade deadline. At that point maybe we can do the right thing and trade Moustakas and Grandal and even make the big move and trade Hader for a ton.
I can be the Yelich of this thread but I can't be Hader as well. I expect both IanC and Emma to participate a lot more in the second half. Enjoy the all star break knowing we can't lose again for a few days.
The outlook was even worse heading into the all star break. How about chill the fuck out and see what happens the next couple of months?
We weren't three games above .500 last year at the all star break and we weren't coming off of a month where we lost nearly every series to mostly bottom feeders. Last year we had a pitching coach that was able to turn trash like Chacin into more than competent pitchers. If this division didn't suck from top to bottom we would be out of it completely. This is a last place team and I am not willing to give away good prospects hoping we can win 85 games. Counsell and Stearns have both done terrible jobs and I can't be the only one to see this.
I'm taking two weeks off from commenting on this team and will only break this code of silence if a trade is made.
This is good that we didn't lose Murphy to ND. One of our mods claimed he expressed some level of interest
I don't know why they bothered with putting Burnes on the IL. He can't pitch in the big leagues this year as long as they are in contention. Send him back down and decide what his role is for good (starter or reliever) and commit to that.
Woodruff was put on the injured list with an oblique strain and those usually take a while to come back from. I think this pretty much kills our playoff chances. Nice to see the team pick it up the last week but without Woodruff I can't see this team staying in contention.
They should have intentionally walked Suarez but Counsell has done a really bad job this year. Really haven't been able to trust Jeffress in a big spot since last years playoffs. Just can't keep losing to last place teams.
No reason to make any big deals at the deadline. With Woodruff out at least six weeks we just aren't good enough to do any damage even if we make the playoffs.
