That and it’s all so short. I like it, but I was disappointed tbh. I want more than 30 seconds of JID. I do have to check out more of Buddy after hearing him. I had no idea who he was but I liked him on there
Mid year I got Album of the year 1: ZUU-Denzel Curry 2: Bandana-Freddie Gibbs 3: The Plugs I Met- Benny The Butcher Song 1: I Been Waiting- KRIT 2: Palmolive- Gibbs/Push/Killa Mike 3: Middle Child- J-Cole Slow year tbh but Denzel Curry surprised tf outta me
I’ve never gave Denzel Curry a listen but I’ll check him out. I was satisfied with Krit, he’s been my favorite since hometown and those old mixtapes. Gonna listen to that Gibbs too.
Legit start with ZUU. His older stuff is kinda on that heavy metal xxxtenacion soflo hip hop and ZUU is more him on some clean more traditional shit and he kills it. He’s legitimately talented and I can’t say that often about these young guys. If Krit took MISSISSIPPI and Learned from Texas from the back end of his album and replaced Obvious on the front half and made an 11 song album it would legit be a no skip for me. Those fillers on the second half and “obvious” make me knock off points
agree on both the slow year and Curry being surprising. I think I'd have it 1. Bandana- best since DAMN and 4Eva Is a Mighty Long Time in 2017 2. Diaspora 3. Zuu also just noticed Pusha T has verses on Bandana, Diaspora and The Plugs I Met recently saw where Skyzoo and Pete Rock recorded an album that's supposed to come out this year. Thought the Smoke Dza/Pete album a few years ago was awesome and Skyzoo is really good especially when the production is on point (like on his record with Apollo Brown), so looking forward to that.
Each of those pusha verses are absolutely filthy as well. Dude has such an aura about him when he steps on a track
What you guys think? My answer is 1- Train. Crazy talent and I credit it as the song that introduced me to KRIT. Also, Action Bronson always surprises me when he’s on a track. Dude is so underrated
Is Dungeon Family a collab, what about Def Squad? I’m such an old man that I can’t remember collabs that aren’t recent. Clique, 1-Train, Monster, King’s Dead?
We the same. 4, 3, 2, 1 Method Man, Redman, Canibus and LL, don’t know why this song always sticks in my head. Think it’s because I’m not an LL fan and Canibus went at him. Coast/Clear with Beast Coast. Joey Bada$$ and Flatbush Zombies
The Denzel Curry record was borderline shocking to me. I didn't see that coming at all. He is filthy front to back. I'll probably catch tons of shit for this but I love Megan Thee Stallion. She can really rap.
I looked but couldn’t find an article I read that said on this outing he cut the delivery of words per minute in half while simultaneously upping his use of unique words. He slowed it down while also making it more intricate. I think this album is gonna really do wonders for him going forward
If we talking female rappers Saweetie has my attention. She may not have the same caliber flow as others but her voice is Rihanna level sexy. She kills the hook on addiction
