Patties were thicker and cooked too long/rough. Changed the bread to some Great Value bullshit style buns. Overall it was like eating a burger at a friend's house who doesn't know how to grill.
Went to Cayo coco yesterday. Place is cool as hell and drinks are delicious. Bit too crowded with suburbanites rn but should thin out before long.
I was in liberty park area and headed to Cayo Coco for dinner. Got on 20 and got off near those section 8 park place apartments or whatever. I was heading towards dinner and was stopped at a light and saw a ton of cop cars and commotion. I rolled the window down and heard what sounded like 20-30 gun shots from multiple shooters. I ran 4-5 lights toward 1st ave. north and everyone up that way had no idea what was going on and acted like they didn't hear anything. Scary stuff.
I’ve never enjoyed it. He always sounds like he’s doing an impression of a guy trying really hard to sing.
More like Carrigans is a good restaurant but should not be considered a bar (I wish my wife knew this).
What’s there to like? I went once with my wife and another couple. After a few minutes, my buddy’s wife turned on Spotify on her phone so there’s be some sound. Place was lame.
HoW aBoUt HaViNg A cOnVeRsAtIoN?! Their insistence on not having televisions is why I don't go there during the fall and winter.
Carrigans just needs to lay off their cocktails. First off they aren’t very good, they also take way too long to make as they aren’t staffed properly for how busy they get. I would go there more frequently if the bar staff was better.
Hot take: depends on who the bartender is. Most of the guys/girls are douches. The (former?) bar manager was incredible, very chill, and a cool dude to talk to. When you had a conversation with him, it always seemed like he was speaking in hushed tones so the assholes working for him wouldn't know he was the man. Also, I like their rooftop at night. If you want music as part of the atmosphere, then nope, not so good. Also, owner is clueless, as is obvious by Brat Brot's first incarnation (haven't been since the reopening).
Yeah they gave one of my friends a speech about organic/clean ingredients when she tried to order a Jack and Coke.
If you haven’t been to Okinawa Japanese steakhouse off Lakeshore you should go. Best Hibachi in the metro, sushi is fantastic, Japanese beers are $4.00. Really no reason to go back to Surin. Edit: also they don’t cook in front of you with the flat top grills and communal horseshoe seating which is a huge plus for me.
Okinawa is a hidden gem in that shit tier shopping center. Quick stops at Milos on the way home from Lowe’s trips are also pretty good.
I never went in five years in Tuscaloosa and decided to get some at the Lakeshore location one weekend, following a Lowe’s trip, to see what the hype was about. I came away very disappointed and mad I didn’t just go to Milos.
I love Taco Casa and realize I’m biased/predisposed to it as a Ttown native. I’ve been told on good authority, they add oatmeal to their ground beef and totally understand how people could find the entire menu disgusting. That ice tho.
