Yeah I know German is on an innings limit and I'm not really expecting him to start on the PS. I see it as: Tanaka Paxton Trade CC Which doesn't inspire confidence but what can you do. Don't seem to be any true front of the rotation guys available with the Giants and Indians in the WC races. Maybe Grienke with the dbacks drifting back?
And with CC I'm hoping they go the short start (3-4 innings) and BP game route with that start in the playoffs.
Idk I think German will pitch in the postseason. He's not a super young kid. He's 26. I think he'll get another 2 week IL trip and then be ready for postseason.
Tanaka gonna have his vintage one inning implosion followed by a solid few innings kind of game it seems
Yeah rolling with what we have isn't an option. When last have we had a starter make it through 6? Good lord.
I guess it's important to remember that it doesn't really matter how brutal loses are. Still counts for one game. Win the next two and this never happened. Salvage one of the next two and the Sox just won 3 of 4 at home. They're supposed to do that. No big deal. Just gotta roll with this last turn through the rotation being a fluke thing.
If the report is right that the Dback wanted Frazier + Clarke Schmidt + DGarcia for Robbie fucking Ray, I'm glad we passed. We need an arm but he's not the arm you sell the farm for. I feel no better about a postseason start from him than I do the guys we have now. I assume the Dbacks and others thought we were bent over a barrel and asked for the moon. It sucks to not get anyone but I'm ok with not getting fucked.
Yeah no way you can make that deal for Robbie Ray. I don't blame Cashman for not pulling the trigger on trades like that, but I do hold shit like passing on Kuechel and Corbin for only money against him. That's without getting into the fact that the Astros got Cole and Verlander for very reasonable prices and we could have and should have landed one of the two.
Saw it was Frazier and couple prospects. Lol if they asked for Garcia. Frazier is never going to play here so wish he would just get traded.
Yeah and I'd say the DBacks would be getting the better long term of that deal even. Which is fine because we need arms now. But I'm not sure why Arizona was so unreasonable.
He's not gonna play this year obviously but next year he's an everyday player if he's not traded today
Like they just pointed out on the Yankees broadcast, none of the AL contenders really did anything in the pitcher market. Seems the asking prices were just ridiculous. Sucks.
Figure I'll soon be out of cell service and plan to be out for another 3 or 4 weeks. I'll have satellite TV so I'll be able to keep track for the most part though. Hopefully we have Severino to talk about by the time I get back.
Ugh Grienke being available and us not getting him hurts. But damn, hard to sell the farm for a 35 yr old SP. I assume they gave up Tucker or Whitley.
Yeah gotta think Frazier is worth more than Chisholm and I'm the biggest chisholm fan in the world (he's Bahamian)
I seriously doubt Whitley, but who knows. Maybe something along the lines of Tucker, Corbin Martin & Josh Rojas.
Yea I can't say I blame them, I just see the other side of it. Idk if I would have given up Garcia for Greinke. Maybe, but idk man. That's really fucking hard.
I'm fine with not getting Greinke. It's been talked about for a decade how bad he would be in the Bronx. It just sucks to see our biggest rivals for the pennant improve while we stand pat with a staff that has an ERA over 5.00 in July. And people keep talking about Severino like he's going to make an impact, but the truth is he's had his return date pushed back three times already and there's nothing to say he'll even make it back this year.
