cam's pelo name is aceboog1e and he got to 354 kj on a 20 min ride on 7/1 after the studio feature ride. guessing he had to look nice and composed for when the cameras were on and then he ripped it for the other one.

Tabata is 2/1 that doesn’t strictly mean 20 on 10 off. On longer rides you’ll get longer on/off so that becomes your “break” you don’t get a strict “flat road” break for a couple minutes. You might get a 1 minute break but not a lot.

I believe the principle is 2 units of effort, 1 unit of rest regardless of length. I believe I recall a long Tabata (45 min) with two minutes on, one minute off intervals, and other varying length intervals.

I’ve found them to do even blocks followed by recovery. So 4 sets with a longer recovery until the next set on the longer tabata rides. In 15 minutes there isn’t much time after warmup to do anything else.

I did Robin's latest 30 minute interval ride. Probably the hardest class I've done since owning the bike. Couldn't do my second floor class afterwards. I'm going to either do abs today or the chest/back workout. Probably abs.

One thing I have realized is I need to engage my core more during my rides. I'm too slouched over.

Did the 45 Robin Tabata today and while I got it done it was not my best effort. Didn’t catch my second wind until 35 minutes in.

For those wondering what that ride was like:
    10 min warmup
    15 of 2 on 1 off
    2 min recovery
    9ish minutes of 1 on 30 off
    3 min recovery
5 min of hell at 40 on 20 off
    1 minute recovery.

Did a Power Zone ride tonight. It had 10 rounds of 45 seconds at Zone 5, with 15 seconds of rest in between, for a 3-to-1 ratio...not super fun after about #6. Fifteen seconds rest flew by like it was nothing. On either side was 8 min segments at Zone 4. It worked though, day's stress is long gone.

i dont ride a lot of 45 min rides but i bested my earlier pr (jj's last ride) by 10% with a recent edm ride with emma and it even had a 4-5 min arm section in it. ended at 488 and maybe i clear 550 (from a best of 445 earlier) without the arms section.

Did the 45 minute Red Hot Chili Peppers ride. I knew almost immediately I was going to do well.

Got a 354kj output! Highest PR so far. Man it felt AWESOME.

Wish there were more 90 and 120 minute rides too. Wouldnt even mind them getting into a few Triathlon style rides. I know Matt has done Tri's and Christine has done some long races as well.

Went out for a solo hike climbing a mountain about 9300 feet high - wanted to go solo to test out fitness. 5.1 miles each way, about 3200' elevation gain. Summit time was 2'30", but I had to take a long 10" break at 1'50" due to high heat and endless sunshine really wearing me down. Day was hotter than expected by 10 degrees, and east face climb kept the wind off me almost all day, which sucked (90 deg at car when I got back). While Peloton isn't specifically training one for climbing hikes, that an impressive pace for me at any temp - let alone high heat - and faster than last year. Only my 2nd hike this year, so any credit goes to Peloton work, and my warm Peloton room helped prep for heat today.

The RHCP ride was bad ass. Loved the playlist.

I don't do many 45 min. rides. I've trended toward a 20-30 min ride paired with other workouts. Really like the bootcamps too.

Nonetheless, I beat my previous pr by a wide margin on a 45 min ride. Went from 551 to 617. Felt damn good crossing 600.

Some of you animals break 700 right? Got a ways to go to get there.

My building just got 3 pelotons for our apartment gym. Feels good to get back on the bike.

Used my airpods, is it normally that quiet? Had the volume up all the way and I seemed to want it much louder.

Going on a 2-week work trip but one of the hotels on our list is Even (and IHG brand) which is all around health and fitness. #Blessed they have Peloton bikes. They also have yoga stuff and resistance bands in every room if you are doing those classes too.

Sometimes my left AirPod goes out for 10 seconds then kicks back in. Also sometimes I get an echo sound. Seems to happen more with the older classes rather than newer. I used to ride without headphones but started using AirPods and I couldn’t go back.

I actually got the headphones Peloton sells (they are wired) but I actually like them a lot just for using with Peloton. They fit and stay in really well. Got them with the referral cash so don't know if I'd actually pay for them with actual money but they've worked well.

Just completed my first live ride. Was kind of hoping for a shoutout even though it was only #75 because it was my first live ride + i thought i did pretty well (was ~40 most of the ride and finished 31st) + i've got the Portland location and it was an HMC ride (and she's from Oregon). But alas.

Either way, that was exhausting. It was a 45 min interval/arms. Crushed my 45 pr i set just Saturday, bested it by ~90 and finished at 576. And that was with three arm sections so i have to think ~650 is manageable. I was competing with this one guy pretty much the entire ride (gave each other a couple of handjobs throughout the ride) and i finally vanquished him at the end.

Live rides are fun because it seems like there's a lot of really great riders on them. but i really like the features they've added over the last few months - the sound mixing, being able to preview the playlist, showing what's coming re: arms vs. riding re: when the warm-up ends, and the instructor guidance. i guess i didn't think about how you wouldn't have any of that for a recorded class. but i suppose a good live class bests everything because you just focus on kicking ass like i did.

I did the 30 minute advanced arms + shoulders. I enjoyed it, but sometimes I think they make shit unnecessarily complicated. One of the exercises literally made no sense to me so I did it in a way that did.

Have we talked hydration/recovery drinks? I'm a whore for Skratch Labs out of nearby Boulder. Very cool people, connected in with pro cyclists, and their products don't bother my gut. I ride with their orange or fruit punch hydration, and use their chocolate recovery drink after tough rides. For a long haul ride like 75 min plus, one bottle of Skratch and one of water (usually pour some on my head to cool off).

Added recovery drinks pretty late in the process, and I started feeling stronger the next morning (ride at night) and during the work day into the next ride. Anyone else using something other than water?

    Feel better, Beo.

Probably won’t impact anyone in this thread but Peloton is stopping support for their first generation monitors. They won’t send updates anymore and they are offering half off an upgrade if you have the first gen. Again we all probably all have the 2nd generation. If you have a red bottom on your monitor you have the 1st gen.

Just jumped on for 10 minutes last night doing a scenic ride just to get some exercise in - and I'm curious how they determine mi/hr speed and distance traveled. I would go up to 130-140 cadence on a low resistance (was trying to match resistance to the road on the screen) but speed was really low. But if I turned resistance up, the speed would go up. Like I get how cadence and resistance combine for the output but I just figured speed and distance were more tied to just cadence. I may just not understand bicycle physics.

Also, it would be pretty cool if for the scenic rides they added the little resistance range indictors depending on the road.

Jess’s Trap ride was great. I think I’ve transitioned closer to music type v instructor. Good news is Alex plays the best music IMO.

Personally for me, being comfortable and prepared while on the bike is huge. There were times where I forgot my headband or towel or didn’t put ice in my water bottle and it threw me off my focus because I was uncomfortable which made me frustrated.

I’ve been planning with more than less now to stay locked in. The biggest changes I made are I went from 1 to 2 on hand towels and water bottles (with ice).

With the changes, I’ve mentally improved which helped improve my performance overall.
